So so true. Veteran here and I’ve seen some things. I’d add to this cutting time to do laser treatments in half than what’s recommended and leaving no time to chart or turn the room over .
Hey Amy!! I love this video and agree with everything you discussed. As far as interviewing at spas, what are questions you ask to ensure you dont accept a job with red flags? Or what are things you make sure are in/not in a contract when you sign to be an employee… I’m not so familiar with the business and legality side of things- non-competes, social media, ensuring you have real name brand products, etc. This has been my biggest set back as an aspiring successful nurse injector!
Unfortunately, Im already working in medicine :). But seriously, knowingly injecting expired product is so crazy, Ive never worked in any place where that would be remotely okay @@fitnessbabe7958
Hi Amy! I wanted to get your advice on something. I currently have a BS in Human Biology and planning to do an accelerated BSN. My goal is to be a dermatology nurse or a cosmetic nurse and am wondering what I should do to put myself in the best position for getting into that field after I finish the BSN. I was a premed student and have 200 hours in the cardiovascular intensive care unit and in the infusion center as a volunteer and about 1,200 hours as a research assistant in a lab (not sure in that applies to nursing). I was wondering if I should get a job as a medical assistant in a dermatology office or should I get experience in a hospital during my schooling?
What else are you interested in? Get some hospital experience and volunteer in a hospital just in case you don't like dermatology, you have something to fall back on. It's actually easy to get into a dermatology clinic or med spa. They train nurses with little to no experience so don't worry about it. Most aesthetic nurses I work with did bedside nursing, got burnt out or didn't like it and went into aesthetics.
A medspa wants me to sign a 2 year contract if employment since I’m coming in w no experience….is this normal? Is this a red flag? What are the consequences if I want to leave
So how did it work out? Did you dign the contract? Did you like it? I hope you dont mind me asking. Ive considered doing the same thing and wanted another person's perspective on this. 😊❤
oh no! what's wrong with them? i hear it's a great way to get your foot in the door to the industry and get experience. have you worked with them before?
Worked for them for more than 2 years. They treat their nurses like assembly line workers, change up scheduling and hours with little to no communication prior and management definitely plays favorites and treats some nurses poorly and unprofessionally as a result. If you try to bring up any issues to HR, it either falls on deaf ears or you are retaliated against. Front desk misbehavior is perpetuated and as such, some nurses get bullied. Decent to get your foot in the door but know that it is a very toxic environment. Everyone I have worked with has left. High turn over and also you don't really grow in the aesthetics world with how what kind of training and treatments nurses are allowed. @@shanologys
