Old people have less to lose and are less likely to care about deadly consequences, so it kinda makes sense why he keeps going while everyone is frozen. Plus, he is probably losing it, so....

I first started watching the channel from your Avatar reactions, and I gotta say it's interesting to see Michael more actively involved in it. Usually out of the three he's the most laid-back one in my opinion, but here he's more involved than I have seen before.

I think this episode does a great job at making Gi-hun an unlikely protagonist that we're supposed to detest, but as the series goes on, the games demonstrate what his strengths are, and I ended up completely in his corner before I knew it.

Watched this about 2 months ago, I binge-watched all 9 episodes over 2 days with my daughter, but have enjoyed going back and watching some of the reactions to it. Yep, 'Gi-Hun' got slapped the heck out of him during the 'Ddakji' game on the underground tube/subway station on his left cheek until it turned so red, that he forgot about the money in the end when he won and couldn't give up until he did and that's the problem right there, because that's the gambler inside him, he almost forgot about the win/the money. Remember, "Korean Won" is a different currency and not as strong as the pound or say the US dollar. For example, 'Gi-Hun's debt to the loan sharks is KRW 160,000,000 million = £100,320.00 or US$135,360.00 and his debt to the bank is KRW 255,000,000 million = £159,885.00 or US$215,730.00 so their millions is our British thousands, you just remove 3 noughts, which is still a lot of money when you're not working and do not have it.
