I have been using Henna Sooq for five years and I would never use another brand. It's perfect and I love Red Raj. I have heard the Rajasthani henna gives you burgundy tones - which might be nice - I may have to experiment one time. My tip is to put the container of henna paste in an insulated lunchbag - helps to keep the heat in longer. I find that I can't just wash out the henna with water, there is too much left on my scalp. Instead, I rinse most of it our with water and then I put some conditioner on my hair. By the time I wash that out, I've gotten all the henna out without removing or fading the colour that is already in my hair.

It's been years since i've used henna in my hair. I used to use it nonstop after high school, but I just never got the red I wanted. It was left to fate most of the time, the harvest, and whatever kind of henna I was attempting to use. I want to give red raj a shot though. I'd like a more red or ruby color than a ginger or copper. Now I just need to wait for it to come back in stock. :( lol

Looking for videos about henna I found your video, I am absolutely in love with the hair color you have. It seems your natural color and it looks beautiful. Thanks for this tutorial. I am definitely going to try this application method, I make such a mess when I use my hands. I also usually use Henna sooq's organic Rajasthani henna with hibiscus pedal powder but I might get a richer red with the red raj.

Hi! What is your natural hair colour? I have dark blonde hair, almost brunette. I am looking for a strong henna that comes off bright and red on my hair. The henna powder I have used so far look rather yellowy, greenish, and just not so red in hue. Do you think the Red Raj will come out bright and vibrant red like yours on my dark dark blonde hair? It's really rather light brown I guess.

I find that egg white gives bounce to the hair and my hair which is very thin appears fuller.

WOW!! your hair turned out gorgeous,I love it,I use nupur,henna&milk,essential oils like tea tree, rosemary,,jojoba oils1cap mixed in, I let it sit overnight,then apply it in the AM⛅,let sit for 4hours in hair then rinse,then shampoo,which I,m going too stop doing that after I henna,I going to do it before,&only condition it after I henna,love your video, I will add a little lemon juice from now on to intensify my henna color ,by the way my henna color I use is dark auburn.May God bless u beautiful lady.

An applicator bottle is a good idea for the roots. I have a dye brush but i just don't have the patience to apply the henna with a brush it takes forever. I usually use my hands for the overall application and a little cosmetic brush for my hairline and roots. I think I'm going to purchase an applicator bottle at the pharmacy good idea. Thanks.

Roheryn Design it totally did. My hair is naturally red, but it’s changing as I get older. It’s getting more muddy brown at the nape of the neck, and sun bleached at the top and around my face. The salt and pepper is starting to creep in a little too. I’ve tried other options for hair care to help preserve the red as much as possible, but a lot of those shampoos and masks just damaged it and increase hair loss. I really think it’s time to bite the bullet and start coloring to enhance the red. Your henna tutorial makes it sound super easy. I feel like your back to front dye strategy is going to be super helpful because the top is the lightest part due to sun bleaching, so it should color the fastest. It’s really nice to see a hair coloring tutorial from someone who has hair like mine. And I think you said henna makes the hair thicker & less prone to breakage, which would be really helpful for what I’m going through with my hair right now. So, thanks again for making this video.

I find it's most effective to apply henna in clumps, squelch it into your scalp, run your hair between your fingers, and twirl your hair into a bunch of little buns. Good luck! :)

Hi ! Wanted to ask what is your natural hair color? This is the red I am trying to achieve but I have medium brown hair and know Henna gives different shades of red depending on the natural color a person has. Im scared if I try it, it will not turn out to be this bright.

I have tried lemon juice, followed by coconut oil. I think my henna has set for too long to lighten. So I gave up. I don't want to damage my hair.

Thank you for your question. I am sorry I didn't see it. RU-vid has been really spotty in sending me notifications. I use 2 different conditioners that I rotate through. The first is ProSanté. You can find it by typing in the search bar bit.ly/kdshaklee. Simply amazing! I also use Pureology in the purple bottle, and I get that from Amazon.

I did not end up trying highlights. After researching even lemon juice would cause more dryness than I'm willing to deal with. When doing so many braiding tutorials, broken hair is a nightmare.

Question - I used jamila and red raj on my second henna application. I will probably do just red raj next time. How often do you henna? Do you do whole head every time? If so, how do you not get overly dark saturation levels with so many layers of henna? Also, how long do you let the henna sit on your hair?

You can use either. They lighten the henna slightly by lightening your hair. But they can also be drying. So I recommend doing a coconut oil hair mask at some point.

Leave to Rest the henna for 12 or 24 hours you can leave 2 hours in your head instead of 6 to 7 hours in your hair ! Can I used henna in my colored hair? Does it work?

Hello, Doesn't henna go darker and darker as you dye over and over? I naturally have medium brown hair and i love being ginger and i go henna to be ginger by dyeing my hair blonde. And it gives the ginger look i love and never fades away. But kinda worried how i will maintain it now. Only root seems hard to apply :D I will figure sth out to lighten henna i guess.

I am a bit surprised to see the use of a metal spoon and it is even left sitting in the henna. Every guide I have seen up until now has specifically advised not to use anything metal because it can cause a chemical reaction. Did I miss something?

Hi! From my understanding, metal is dangerous when mixed with impure henna. Henna has a bad reputation because for a long time impure, chemically “enhanced” dye was sold under the same name. This dye contained henna, but it also included metallic salts that reacted with metal bowls and spoons. HennaSooq, Ancient Sunrise, and Night Blooming are all great sources for henna information.

I did some experimentation at home to both lighten and to pull henna out of my hair, and I didn't like either one. They started to damage my hair. So if your natural color is actually lighter than the henna color you chose, you can lighten a portion of your hair by mixing cassia with your henna color for that section. If you already have henna applied, this will be a long process, as you apply the new mixture to the roots of your section of choice, as you won't see a change until it grows out enough. And since this is such a long process, I have not done a video on it yet.

Great video!! I want your opinion on something, please. I usually wash my hair with baking soda and I rinse it with apple cider vinegar. Do you think that will be ok to start that up again 4 or 5 days after I henna my hair?

Yes. That treatment should work well. However, depending on your hair, you may need to add something like a coconut oil mask every now and then for extra hydration. These treatments will lighten your henna slightly as well.

I let the dye release for just over an hour, and left it in my light/med brown hair for about an hour and 15 min. It barely turned red at all. Should I leave it in longer next time?

Yes. I let the dye release for at least 2 hours before applying. 3 hours is even better. And then let it sit on for 2 hours. Make sure that your hair is very clean with no conditioner and no products before application. Also, henna builds on itself until it reaches full intensity. It took me 4 applications to reach the color I have now.

Henna doesn’t make your hair dry? Someone I know stopped using henna cause she said that it was hard getting it out of her hair in the shower after application and that it made her hair really dry.

Such a great question! The layer of henna on your hair shaft at first does feel dry. This is why a saturating conditioner right after helps so much! Once you wash your hair again in 2 days, you get the remaining residue off, and your hair feels much more normal again. A coconut oil treatment overnight might help for those with really dry hair. However, this will pull a little henna back out of your hair. This isn't noticeable for people who have been using henna for more than 4 months, as the color really won't budge. But you may notice it if you are new to henna.

You are stirring such a small time. Henna has never hurt my metal spoon, and my spoon has never hurt my henna. However, use a plastic or wooden spoon, and that spoon is now only for henna due to the stains. To each his own.

My hair is red, but not so vibrant. The great thing about henna is that your first application is not going to be the ultimate result. Unlike chemical dye where you get what you get, henna starts to layer. It becomes richer each time you do it, until your hair is holding all the pigment it can. I got my best results after 4 applications. Now I just maintain the color. :)

Yo Yo B. Good question! PPD is sometimes used as a substitute for henna. It has no place on our skin. Henna Sooq is organic and pure. Any henna you try should be looked at to make sure the coompany and ingredients are pure and made with integrity.

T Whyt First, check your technique to see if there is a missed detail. Use my video as a guide. If all that is the same, then I'd wonder if there is a barrier on your hair. Past chemical dyes or shampoo/conditioner/other hair products can interfere. I use bit.ly/HealthiestHair I shampoo and towel dry, apply henna, and wait till the final rinse in a few hours before using conditioner, as shown in the video.

Yes and no. What happens is that the henna will layer on a little more each time until it reaches the full color it can reach. After that, there is no change.

Slightly. Henna Soon provides additional products to use, if this is a problem for your hair. Typically, a good quality conditioner soak after will solve this for the majority of people.
