I've used henna for many years and the trick is to mix it with warm water and put it straight on your hair and wait 3 hours. There's no point it processing in a bowl. It needs to process on your hair. I wrap it with clingwrap, ditch the hair dryer and wrap a towel over the clingwrap. 3 hours later - BOOM

OMG this is making me excited! I decided to bleach my hair first and then color with the same henna but wasn't sure how it would turn out. I'm literally in mid process now, and your hair looks awesome, which gives me hope =D
Tip the easier way to keep the heat level up is on top of the plastic wrap, wrap a towel around your head keeps it really warm that's how I do it works well also leave it in for 3 hours you get better color to. Wow your hair came out beautiful
This made me feel so much better. I’m currently in that orange glow phase since all my hair is light blonde 😂 and needless to say I look like Leeloo...can’t wait for 2 more days to reapply new henna to darken the orange
Finally a video of henna for bleach hair . I also got a balayage that was suppose to be chocolate but it ended up being blonde. I’m definitely trying this with the chestnut color from the same brand and hopefully I go back to my brunette hair.
Because I have the same situation and I don’t thing blonde is for me,every salon that I go to is telling me that the blond is going to show after a week or so,and I will have to dye it every 3 weeks till I outgrown the blonde and bla bla,so I’m happy that I found your comment

If you use henna to color your hair and decide that you want it darker.....wait about 7 days until it gets to it's full patina color. It does darken after the first day on it's own. So wait and then decide if you want to do it again. I did mine from blonde to red. At first it was more like a strawberry blonde, but after about a week I had a totally DARK head of red hair. And for those people that think you can just go buy a box color to change your hair...it is a very big process. Box color doesn't do it to remove the henna color. And I had a very even color throughout because I applied it on dry hair until all my strands were saturated.
I have bleached hair and I'm doing henna today but I want black/dark brown hair in the end so I'm adding indigo afterwards. I'm excited to return to my natural color!

I have been purchasing alot of henna here lately. I'm waiting for my previous hair dye to fade. I bought for different colors (2 boxes each) and I will be dying some test strands just to see which one i like. Your hair looked beautiful and glad you liked it. I love your hair henna hair!! I have long dark ends to roots, that are now too dark for above my shoulders. What processing treatment specifically would you recommend to use on the longer , darker length forth, to have larger the color blend well??? Thanks, judy
My hair used to be very ginger when I was little, but now it's a light brown-blonde with a ginger tone to it.. it also gets highlights that are pretty blonde from the sun so I have lighter ends and around my face is a bit highlighted. That being said, I do not want to make my hair any darker, I just want to get it more ginger. Do you think just using red henna would be a good idea for what I want?

heidinsasha Thank you! I know it has to do with the chemicals that are used in bleaching, maybe they are less present after awhile from washing and whatnot? I have seen someone's hair turn green from trying to do bleach and then henna directly after so I am sure you will be so much happier if you wait!
I have naturally light dirty blonde hair and the rest is all bleached blonde from removing blue dye, almost 6 months ago, Ive always loved being a red with box dyes but they always washed out very quickly, i bought the light mountain red with the fox box that comes with 3. Im really excited to try this, i have to be paitent and wait to actually dye it though so I dont have neon orangy hair for a proffessional setting i have to go to in the next couple weeks, but im excited to try it!
You could have done this directly at once without even doing it thrice just by adding 2 spoons instant coffee to your henna mixture. I did it today and my bleached hair turned out very much like your hairs after doing it thrice..
To apply the henna multiple times? I didn't really wait at all honestly in between the henna applications as I wasn't aware of any reason not to and I didn't have any adverse reactions to doing several applications one day after the next.

So, the different hues. Is that the genba picking up your natural highlights? Im scared that if I dye my hair with Henna all my natural highlights will even out into just one red color.
Anna Gosciejew I think it is just the difference between the hair that has been bleached and the hair that hasn't been. My natural hair color has some natural highlight but did seem to get lost with the henna covering it. It just would depend on the contrast between your darker part of your hair and the lighter highlights. Hopefully that is helpful. ☺
It should not messy because the way you hold your hair was wrong you should make a bun by putting one by one strand into a bun from the top of your head. And for dark color by using henna one time you can just mix boiled black tea water in it and let it set for one night 😊
I would love to go red by using henna. I'm blonde, so is it easy to go back to blonde if it doesn't work for me? I know when I've used boxes dyes to change my hair color to anything darker it's impossible to go back blonde without bleaching it.
Jessica Kennon it’s practically impossible to get henna out of your hair, you would have to wait for your hair to grow back to do anything with it. Once you put henna on your hair you have to be committed cause you’ll just end up damaging your hair to the point of it breaking off if you try to go back to blonde especially.
No, it doesn't have the same effect. It may fade a little but the bleached and henna-ed ends of my hair are still red and I haven't applied henna in a few years. It won't leave red dye all over like red hair dye does either which is one perk.
i was told that henna would damage my hair more if i go over bleached hair . mine ,the ends are fried ,its been months since i did it.Can i still use it
No, my hair is pretty much the same still. I for sure DON'T recommend this for temporary use, especially because blond hair really shows the henna. I would recommend a temporary hair dye in that case. Hope that helps!
You don't need to wait 4 hours, 2 hours can be enough and let it sit long first. One spoon Apple vineger is good for a Long lasting effect. I put in Coffee or black tea. For a lighter color Camille tea. I put in conditioner and Avocado oil. It should be no runny should be like mashed potatoes or müde and applied with the hands no brush.
Henna is like a varnish for hair it adds colour while protecting and repairing it. I dont see how 100% organic henna would damage hair, ones with chenical or additives will.

I am letting my henna grow out after my last application a few months ago but I still love it and am glad I did it. I just don't want to any upkeep and was ready to start the growing out process🙂
did u do a test to see if u were ellergic ? i have auburn henna never used henna b4 just normal box hair dyes ,ur hair is beautiful x just a bit apprehensive to use it even though its all chemical free x
Helen Keenan I haven't heard of someone being allergic, honestly I think that you are more likely to have a reaction from the box dye than from henna due to the high chemical content. Keep in mind that this is totally permanent and you have to wait for it to grow out and can't really dye or bleach it out without great damage to hair. Best of luck with your hair!♥
I just went to use s color remover last night to gently strip my hair because I'm waiting on my henna to come in. Well evidently, ions remover is nothing but a bleach! I'm pretty irritated as I just spent 2 years getting my hair back towards healthy and my natural hair color. I wasn't careful since I thought it didn't matter. Now my top half is bleached and a little spotty, nowhere near the roots. Ugh!! I'm not sure whether to just see what the henna does, or do a dark blonde color rinse to even it out a bit before I henna. Sorry for my question, I just realized I must have skipped where you said what you used. Lol. I got Amber spice.
A Day in My Life Oh no! The henna will take very differently for different shades of hair so if you can even it I think you will be much happier, but that is said without me seeing your hair to kind of determine that.
