Oh Ms Helen I do love your table too! So enjoyed this video, laughed along with your surprise and amazing discoveries of gourds, lizard 🦎,frogs and sweet potatoes. A heartfelt moment for me, during summer stays with my grandparents, in the evening after chores sitting at the kitchen table having a bowl of sweet potatoes with canned milk and sugar with them . We had sugar cane, too an easy treat for a housefull of kids! Grandma had 14 living children with kids of their own. So you can imagine the commotion when they came to visit! Miss Helen - Thank you for yet another enjoyable video, brightening the day of thousands of your viewers throughout the world. A funny story re plants. Years ago a coworker mentioned she had experienced problems with a loud, obnoxious next-door neighbor. She decided to plant vines with hopes that the loud neighbor would keep a bit of distance from the fence. She said the vines had overtaken the fence, she was hoping to remove all the vines. She shared a photo - seems she had planted kudzu she found growing on the side of the road! It was a huge mistake. As the vines were being removed they discovered the wooden fence had been compromised. I totally understand why you enjoy and continue to grow sugarcane. It is a fond memory of times with your Daddy and his sugarcane. I personally feel any time I repeat activities that had special significance in my life it triggers a special emotional response, almost like a 'hug'. It is a precious, treasured reaction. Your Daddy is definitely proud of his daughter Helen!

I grew those gourds once. They won’t grow here for me. Then they grew EVERYWHERE! I made birdhouses out of them and gave them for gifts. The flowers were pretty, too.💖

That's what my Grandfather called it, also the leaves from corn.He called it fodder.It fed the hogs and cows during the winter months.The corn he fed to the chickens and I think hogs too.

That is wonderful what that young man is doing at the nursing home. Is the cane easy to grow,I might give it a try next year. Yes you need a paved road , if you get a paved road maybe their noise want bother you as much. The little 🐸 thought it was hiding. You have hit the sweet potato jack pot. Those gourds are vining and will spread out and vine up anything they can. They like to grow up. It looks very happy and healthy!

No wonder you stay so young. Look at everything you do. You are truly amazing and inspire me to want to try to do more around our house. I’ve had 5 back surgeries but I still try to do what I can.!-it’s been 2 years this month on the 27th when I had my fifth back surgery and on the 2nd of October, this. If you have a press with rollers to feed the cane through, the sap or juice as you said, can be boiled and made into cane syrup. Maybe you do that but I did not hear you say that if you did.

I set mine up on pellets in my building to dry out good. I miss having them. Granddaddy made us flutes out of his cane field. Bless his ❤️🙌. That was so sweet. They love watching the bird's too. I worked at an independent living complex and filled those feeders up so around it.
