Hi Miss Helen! I would like to thank you on behalf of my grandma and my family. My grandpa passed away from COVID-19 on October 29th. My grandparents were married for 63 years. Mema has been extremely depressed and we found your videos on RU-vid. She watches you everyday and you bring her so much joy at the saddest time in her life. You are a blessing! So on behalf of my Mema, Dottie have a wonderful day, and I hope someone blesses you as much as you bless everyone!

Ms. Helen don't worry about having something to make for your video's. I enjoy watching your recipes and of course your wonderful creative crafts, but your stories are the best! I could sit and listen to your stories all day. It reminds me of my Aunt Helen, who would call me and say put the kettle on, I'm on the way over (she loved her hot tea) She would tell me stories of her childhood with my dad and stories of me and my siblings and parents when we were little. Thank you for sharing and taking the time with us and your positive attitude. I look forward to your video's every week.

Helen, I'm like you... I make my own pizza , sauce and dough. Only time I buy one from the restaurant is on my birthday. When my 91 yr old mom came to Washington DC from Virginia Mountains she was asked would she like to get a Pizza Pie? she thought it was some kind of pie ... like a fruit pie. She was raised like you.. no electricity , no running water, wood stove heat. Her only entertainment was the battery radio. I'm 49 yrs old and my Grandaddy was born in 1880s. He raised 12 kids on his own. My mother said she remembered doing homework by the Kerosene lamp.

Listening to your voice and the stories about your childhood, and how different things are now is relaxing and lets me drift back into my place in time growing up. And watching you make home-made pizza WOW, there's just nothing better. I could almost smell it from the oven, and your black coffee of course, and the crunch of the crust when you cut your piece. It looked so yummy I swear my tummy growled. I thoroughly enjoyed this cooking lesson, and can't wait for the next one. Question...Do you know how to make Chicken Pot Pies? Miss Helen, I love your stories. You bring back memories that I sometimes have not thought about for a while. Penny candy from my Great Aunt Maggie's country store, a pot bellied stove, a single light bulb hanging from the center of the living room and no lights in the rest of the home. Two fireplaces and another potbellied stove kept the house warm during the day and evening. When my grandfather turned in for the night, he put all fires out for the night. When we stayed with them, we slept on the floor on pallets becuase my three of my aunts were still unmarried and living at home. I cherish the memories. It may seem that this type of lifestyle was hard to many today and they would be correct, but we lived it and survived with a closer family than most have today. Thank you for sharing your stories. By the way....How is Cody doing? Hope your January is free from snow this year. I'm hoping for a short 'winter' in the south. Take care and know you are loved.

Those old coal oil lamps are unbeatable! I have a couple that have been passed down in my family from my grandma. You can still buy new versions of them at a few places but to me they just aren't as special, well made, or as pretty. Every household should have at least one, whether it's an old heirloom or new version, because when bad weather or an ice storm knocks out your power they're the best thing to have! Beats a flashlight or candle any day, they even put out a little heat, cost next to nothing for endless use, and are pretty enough to sit out as decor when not needed. And God knows with just a little care they can be passed on for generations.

OMG I used to have those same Corelle dishes! I think I got them for a wedding present back in 1968. They are indestructible! I finally donated them because I was tired of them. Now I wish I had them back. LOL Your pizza looks so good it's making my mouth water. I'm going to have to make some. I love you and your videos and your conversation.

Helen , I’m 75 from Appalachian mountains Kentucky . Way up in Daniel Boone country. I lived with grandparents, we didn’t have electric till I was 15 . Kerosene lamps is how we did homework . We grew all our food , butchered , it , canned it , pickled it , dried it , smoked it ! The only thing we bought was flour , sugar , coffee, things we couldn’t grow! Life was a lot of hard work but very satisfying. When we prayed at the end of the day we had a lot to be thankful for! You be blessed and favored always ❤️🙏🏽

Generations going forward has no clue what type of blessings n happiness was by working hard (n learning from the elders) thru the day by doing things with your own two hands n feet. That is what creates precious memories! N ps I grew up on the farm when a youngster. Did the same as you n your family did. Hope ur still living that quality of life! Unfortunately, in the city now but at least I still have my mind. Well, sort of. Lol. N as always, abundance of infinite blessings to all

Helen, we love you. My Grandmama was born and raised in Newnan, Ga. We lived several years in a small home in a very rural area, without power. We've used those same lamps many times! I'd send you a globe from one of ours if we still had them.

Helen, if you don't like pushing the buggy around walmart, and you aren't able to find what you need, you can go to Walmart.com and order your groceries on there, and you can either pick them up or get them delivered. If you do pick up, you don't even have to get out of the car! Please stay safe ❣️

You made a great pizza, and if I could get self-rising flour I would try it, but where I live in a rural part Philippines we don't have that we only have All-purpose flour, we can get yeast most of the time, I may be able to look on the internet for a substitute for self-rising flour. Look what I found For every 1 cup of self-rising flour you are substituting: 1 cup (4.25 oz, 119 gr) all-purpose flour (plain flour) 1 1/2 tsp (0.3 oz, 7.5 gr) baking powder. 1/4 tsp (0.05 oz, 1 gr) salt. Praise God.

When I was a little girl my grandmother used to tell me how they would use a horse and buggy to go to church down in Greenfield Tennessee. How her mother would wash their clothes on a washing board and how at holiday dinners, the grown folks would sit at the dining room table and the kids would sit at a small kitchen table in the kitchen.

Hey Helen from Ga. I hope you are doing well even better than that 😁. My husband of 51 years & I was up at our little Farm in Blackshear, Ga. He & a couple friends was unloading materials for a pole barn to put his tractor & bobcat under & had a accident and one of our friends had a pole roll over his ankle and dislocated it & broke it . Our place isn’t far from yours. It was cold not too cold & rainy. But the farmers have most of their crops gathered. My husband and Son’s hunt & we always have deer 🦌 meat. My grandkids & I are going to make your pizza with deer burger & Same other ingredients, my grandkids don’t like pepperoni either. Thank you for your child hood stories, they’re always enjoyable and I can relate. You look great as always. Instead of watching the news I watch you. You’re a blessing and great encouragement to everyone who watches your utube video’s, keep up the great work, God bless 🇺🇸🙏💐
