Red Velvet's specialty is melding light singing with dark/creepy/horror-influenced visuals. They also have two primary styles "red" and "velvet". "Red" songs are uptempo and bouncy, "velvet" songs are laid-back and more in the r&b/ballad realm; despite the light touch on the vocals, this is a "velvet" song. Either form may or may not have said dark undertones. If you graph it out on a 2D x-y axis, they have songs in all four quadrants. Red songs without creepy aspect (e.g. Red Flavor) are summer bops, red songs with (Peekaboo) are quirky fun. My artist recommendation: AleXa. This is, at minimum, a three-song commitment because the first videos of her monster rookie year (Oct 2019-Oct 2020) are tied together in a single story arc and are best watched in order. AleXa made a predebut cameo in Mamamoo's "GogoBebe" and remains friends with them to this day, as shown by her dance cover of Moonbyul's "Eclipse".
