Even if it was somehow a "reskinned" Battlefront; by now it is so polished, gritty, impactful, and deep (in mechanics/skill gap) that nothing else really compares.

Actually i am a little wrong; Halo Infinite has a deep movement and timing mechanic well at this point, but 343 is nearly as bad as DICE at this point. They have two saving graces; good multiplayer, and some form of campaign. Unfortunately FTP, Microtransactions and cross-compatibility are ruining the first, and the second still doesn't live up to the hype. At least I can say that I retain a small amount of faith that 343 might turn it around.

Yup and after they started fucking even with that game then dice died. After that all they released was bf2 which they never bothered to finish, bfv aka disgustingly disrespectful woke trash and now 2076 the worst battlefield game ever made. It's not even a battlefield game lol. It's just woke trash.

For me personally it was BF1 that was the first nail in the coffin, only Battlefield I never bought since BF 2.

George H you can do that in this game there are dedicated specialists for it, Falk and Angel . You gonna die a lot anyways, it doesn’t matter since there is no leaderboard. Medics usually are on end screen as top performers for rezes and heals.

@@Cardan011 I main medics in BF games. And I do the same in BF2042. Unfortunately that role is very limited and in most cases not very impactful. You're useful mostly in 64 breakthrough and, ironically, teamdeathmatch. But it still better than trying to play engineer role. Which is nonexistent in terms of usefulness now.

There’s a lot more medic options in BF2042…you’re not restricted in weapon and gadget choice. Much better IMO

Me neither, my last purchase was bf3, i saw what was happening and never bought anything else after and thank god i did not. I stupidly decided to try it again with this one and to see how they have shat on everything that made bf fun for money is sad. Thankfully i will never be buying another product from dice again so this purchase will probably make up its losses over time.

It’s times like these where I ignore new games and work on my gaming backlog.

For years im a dedicated Retro Emulation gamer. The best games, are the old games. And you don't need new hardware for playing Retro. Not that you actually get any new hardware/GPU anytime soon... Its safe to say, after 2005 gaming was going downhill. That was the year the Xbox 360 was released. Gamedesign was changed, so games can now be played solely with a Controller in mind. Recently a forgotten game was re-relreased. Thats Severance Blade of Darkness. And just like Gothic 1&2 these games have no native Gamepad support. But i play these games with only my left hand on the keyboard. You don't even need the mouse. And these two games work unbelievably fine with just one hand. But when you now try to make them work on a Gamepad, you will realize a 1&1 copy to gamepad will not work. You run out of buttons, despite using less buttons on the keyboard to play these games. How can this be? Its simple, key combination for doing Actions and combat. Like holding the attack (action) button and insert combo commands. You can't really do that the same way with an anal stick. A compromise could be made in the design, good developers would do that. But no. Every single game since then has to be designed first and foremost for consoles. And old school developers left the industry, so the $hitheads who came after don't even know how old games were designed. Entire game design philosophies were lost over the past two decades. Since 2013 every year after was worse when it comes to video game quality. With 2021 hitting the absolute low, yet again!

I mean 15 to 20 years is eons in the video gaming world

A little late I know, but here goes: I think you are partly right but I think we might not get a total crash but more like a partly crash in the AAA space. Both EA and Ubisoft are making moves to be taken over by a larger entity. I think we might see the AAA space being consolidated into a few (2-3 very large publishers) and the vast majority of "developement" being mobile P2W, unti such a time that legislation catches up with the industry. But that is just my theory.

They mostly left due to working conditions. Extended crunch periods, mandatory overtime, working through holidays, terrible conditions.

the hilarious thing is that they destroyed the game, hollowed it out to sell skins... and have worse skins and customization than BFV!

They tried 128 players back in BF3. And what did they said? The game can run w up to 300 players but they stayed at 64 Players bcs it’s the best for the game.

One thing they should've done, in particular, to adapt to 128 players is increase squad sizes to like 16, more in line with real life sizes, which are often up to 15 with sometimes teams attached to that like machinegunners. That way, you have actual groups of people moving around that can fight together, instead of the gameplay being a mix of hiking and battle royale.

You talking about Ravenfield? I love that game. You can fight whoever you want, wherever you want, with whatever you want thanks to the community made add-ons and maps. Toss in the multiplayer mod, and you and your friends can take to whatever battlefield you desire. The lasguns in the 40k add-on sound fucking divine when all your dudes fire them in volleys.

I remember telling people that the game is going to be bad if you ignored the trailer hype and looked at what was going on. Now I feel vindicated and have been rubbing it in people's faces for pre-ordering the game lol.

@@andreivaldez2929 I had low expectations but was excited until specialists were announced, that was the nail in the coffin for this franchise for me. Coming from someone who's last BF game was BF4, although I enjoyed playing BF1 I never bought it as I'm more into the modern genre. Been picking up indie/lowkey games lately and even though most are free through game pass, I find my self actually purchasing them as they're way more enjoyable/put together than any AAA title these days.

2042 has nothing on BFV, nothing

BFV had a bunch of good qualities like the gunplay and movement, which are both the best in the BF franchise (I'm serious, fight me), the graphics are stunning (although the art style is slightly worse than BF1) and I had an absolute blast playing the multiplayer (I didn't touch the campaign). 2042 doesn't have any of that

I came back to 2142 through 2042. Thank god there is reclamation 2142 with an active multiplayer!

Apparently Battle Bit does Battlefield pretty well. You should check it out. There's also Planetside 2, but that doesn't have destructible environments.

A bad game/movie, with a nostalgic title, might make money now but it will sour people's perception of you. That soured perception doesn't just "go away." The pre-game/loading screen tracks ooze Battlefield aesthetic. The electronic chatter eluding to a larger conflict, the slight distortion that implies gritty/intense conflict. All tied in with the ramping hype of iconic rifts/licks.

Two major issues with buying/playing multiplayer games a year after released: 1) Larger ratio of hardcore fanbase and/or sweats. 2) All the DLC packs and niche content is basically abandoned, and only the fan favorite maps are played. Ie. Good luck trying to find a match on that DLC pack you paid for when everyone is running Operation Metro and Siege of Shanghai. This is why products need to be complete on release, because no amount of post day 1 patching will cease the day 1 player boom expereince. It's a flashfire, and if yoy blink you miss the opportunity for the game to be a success.

Bf4 is my favorite but bf1 had lots of fun toys to make people mad with that reminded me of bf4 only thing I hated was sniping and zeroing (I do get bf5 and 1 mixed up alot)
