Dont be a sheep. Sometimes Chael gets it wrong. Dan's job is not to stop show boating and make it obvious who he dislikes. Entertainment is entertaining, and it's what a lot of fans pay to see.
I only try and come up with ones that have a glimmer of a giggle, i had a great one on the last video but it got pulled for language... let me hash out some of fun, thanks youtube... Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to show his girlfriend the d**k helicopter and actually take off. Edit : don’t any of you comment thieving weasels steal it, i’m saving it for the next video, lol.
Guess Dan can never ref a Nate Diaz fight without taking points cos nate flips the bird willy nilly xD or how bout masvidal landing huge bombs after he kos askren and then bangs the canvas in a wwe tapout manner. what would Dan done then? or when ronda refused to shake mieshas hand? jeez xD
Cheal is wrong though it's about the point being taken away there is no rules about unsportsmanlike what if they did that to kabib and stood him up vs conor
The reason he said he wasn't going to ref his fights anymore is because; while he did apologize for saying rude things, he still thinks ill of mvps attitude in the ring. the truth is he doesn't respect mvp and that's why he had to go beyond the apology and say he was going to step away from involvement with mvps career as a whole. I think its the right call because if he ended up taking points from him and he had lost the fight due to this, it would make for a very dramatic and controversial story.
So before fights fighters are encouraged and almost have to talk shit to get in the spotlight but in the cage its oh no you cant say that boo hoo, its just so double sided. Fucking let them talk shit who cares? They are trying to bash each others heads in for christ sake but a swear word is a big no no? Either its all ok or none of it is, jeez.
@@overflow6004 Lets be real i dont think you understand where some refs are coming from. From how i heard Herb Dean describe it, he says theres a difference between having words and in the case he gave of a fighter ground and pounding a guy and saying things which made it seem like more of a mugging than a competition. In the case of MVP idk if you saw all the antics he does but theu usually aren't appropriate for the octagon. The last one i saw was him on top of a fighter pretending to do a selfie? I mean it's like there is showboating kinda like adesanye does where it teeters the line but i think there's a point where it gets out of hand.
Smart move for sure. I don't think BD would abuse his position, but now that there's a known personal issue between him and MVP, if BD makes a call that MVP or his corner or the fans don't like, it could cause an issue. Best to just not be involved with MVP anymore and head off any potential future controversy.
@@overflow6004 dude no one is forcing fighters to talk shit to make a name. that is only 1 philosophy. it works to hype a single fight because it sells to casual fans on the outside who think if two fighters hate each other, they will fight harder. In reality they can only fight as good as they can, animosity has nothing to do with performance aside from the fact it can tilt you into making poor overly aggressive decisions. In contrast, look at GSP, and other fighters who always respect their opponents. they do this because it brings a lot more legitimacy to their victory. if i said someone is complete trash at fighting, then whoop their ass, it actually diminishes the achievement of beating them. There is more than one way to approach the sport, and honestly i prefer the fighters who talk well about their opponents and give respect because it reflects their gyms attitude to practicing the arts and shows how training martial arts actually makes one more humble. the people who showboat and show their huge egos in the ring are easily unlikable and simply don't represent martial arts well. it doesn't reflect what its actually like to train martial arts; sometimes winning and sometimes losing. Through training we learn and become humbled by the adversity of defeat and picking ourselves up and finding growth. that's what real martial arts is like, and prize fighters who just gloat about money and success are annoying because they are a different breed yet get clumped together with real martial artists, who most of which, don't prize fight or receive any glory aside from self recognition.
I think the issue is that dan unnecessarily took a point and removed mvp from a finishing position, all whilst enforcing a rule that almost no other refs enforce. Also probably has something to do with the way mirgliotta acted whilst reffing Greg Hardy.
@@connorvandeventer3107 no I dont think hes trying to get the light shined on him at all. I think hes trying to clean up the morals and ethics of this sport (which I agree should be done somehow). I think the perception of him wanting attention is not only misguided but unfounded and totally out of left field. Its clear his intentions are to clean up the sport but the position hes in and the way hes doing it is not the proper way to go about it. Hes still hands down top 5 refs in the game.
@@fionncooney2813 Also he shouldnt be apologizing to us, we are outsiders. He should be apologizing to the fighter who's fight he could have compromised.
What we do is choose to accept or reject his apology. And, for the most part, we reject his apology. And here's why: 1) He has had history with MVP in the past, and he did not apologize to MVP when it was private. 2) He, unprofessionally, carried those negative emotions into the octagon and allowed for it to grossly impair his judgement against MVP. 3) He went on to further interfere with the match by unlawfully and begrudgingly deducting a point from MVP in an attempt to rob him of his win and take food off his family's table. 4) He has had a history of unacceptable emotional biases in the octagon, particularly against fighters of non-Caucasian extraction. (ex., one recent example shows him shaking his head in disgust against Khabib when helping security to escort Khabib out of the octagon during UFC 229) He clearly has anger issues/emotional dysregulation that he is unable to control. It's not an apology we want; it's either behavioral change, or suspension. We can't have fighters, who are already over-worked and under-paid, fight an uphill battle with biased, and possibly racially-charged, officiating against them and potentially being robbed of their hard-earned money.
Not a chance...Dan has a problem with MVP's show boating...nothing MVP does is officially illegal, it comes across as arrogant but so what....do ure job and ref..
Huge deal mvp had the postion on the ground about to finish fight and Dan stood him up for taking a fake selfie. He could have changed the outcome of the fight by doing that lol he even took a point that changed the score cards. He just had a personal issue with this fighter and he acted dirty because of it. The fact that chael said he did nothing wrong during the fight is ridiculous hahaa
Yeah I find it funny people have not gotten the fact that mvp said Dan will not ref his fights first..dan is just trying to look like he is taking the higher road..dudes a douchebag
@@coloradocheeseman1145 exactly people keep ragging on MVP he's not my cup of tea a lot of the time. But I'm 100% on his side on this the ref should let the fighter be himself when he's fighting like when big John was telling Diaz to stop goofing in the Anderson fight when Anderson was doing fuck all. Let the fighters do their thing as long as they're being active. People aren't paying money to see the ref and some refs need to check their ego.
Chael tell that story about how you would get the club sandwich and the Diet Coke sometimes as a ritual. I can’t remember it exactly but u gotta talk about it again real quick sometime. - The 2nd biggest arms outta West Linn High
Dan was out of line called MVP a POS for showing off, he has every right to show off dan shouldnt had taken a point away because MVP took a illusional selfie
You are the only other person calling this for what it is. Dan's job is to be an impartial ref and keep the fighters safe. Not to be the arbiter of entertainment, that fans pay to see.
MVP had problems with Dan before though, in his second bellator fight Dan told him to take off his sunglasses that he wasn't in Hollywood and then this so it's not as if it was just slip of the tongue here
@@brucepapuni5372 yeah what I meant was it wasn't just a once off slip of the tongue type thing, he has a personal issue with MVP, he'll never referee MVP again though so it's all good I suppose
Nothing wrong with what Dan did. MVP acted like a piece of shit, and thus Dan called him a piece of shit deservedly. It's not personal; it's calling a spade a spade.
Chael I love ya but Dan was wrong PERIOD. WEIRDLY I agree with Brendan Schaub and his point of view on the whole thing & I don't care for Schaub. I DO however agree with this being over with. Dan apologized and that was that and dont ref MVP'S fights. I'm ok with it lol 😁💯
Dan Miragliotta is a class individual, full stop. Can you imagine what the world could look like if we all followed his example? Wrong someone. Immediately apologize. Remove yourself from any advantageous position you’d have over that person. Simple, forthright, honest, old school. Well done, sir. 👍🏼
Dan calls MVP a piece of shit Chael OK Great, i havent the foggiest idea why anyone would be mad. WithHout question Dan apologized. Not for nothing but thats meaningful and Connor might call Dan out for apologizing.
Very fucking surprising hearing this from you Chael, when you are all about the entertainment factor. WHY did Dan take points away from MVP in the first place and warn the other guy. They were both actively engaging in fighting at the time. Dan is there as an impartial referee, and to keep the fighters safe. Not to stop them from show boating. A lot of fans love the entertainment factor and this is why people are still talking about it. Dan also had an issue with Greg Hardy for his post fight celebration. This guy is a great ref, but he is also a pos, making this about him and his feelings.
It's being made such a big deal because many ref don't do anything about this rule, the same way they do nothing about eye pokes. Personally, I would rather a ref step in and take a point (without warning) for eye pokes, instead of making a statement about cussing or "sportsmanship" in the octagon.
He has nothing to apologize for. MVP is a pos. How can someone be so cocky when they dont have a single top 10 (maybe even top 15) win and is coming off a KO loss.
I was at that and me or no one around me knew why he deducted a point at the time. I was under the impression it was for showboating and couldn't understand why you'd get deducted for that. Obviously, from my seat, I didn't have the luxury of commentary to tell me what was going on.
Venom could put a sour look on anyone's face but I think Dan miragliotta did the right thing by apologizing Fighters lives are in his hands personal feelings could get someone hurt for life or even killed I'm glad to see him Rise Above it Dan miragliotta is a good referee Fighters trust him I hope he can regain that bond with MVP they really have to be in the cage together again someday honestly as a fan that's something I'm going to have to see
i was there, and MVP was showboating, which i dont think is against the rules, while he had kielys back. Dan stood them up and took a point from MVP. I like dan cause he shook my hand after the event but he made a bad mistake there
