REFINISHING mid century elm! CUSTOM STAINING with Odie’s Oil

Double the fun in this video! I'm taking two mid century elm pieces, a credenza and a dresser, and giving them each a separate and unique new look using Odie's Oil and Mr Cornwall's Creative Colours (pure pigments). Elm can be difficult to stain so you'll see how I deal with that while bringing these two beauties back to life with a modern twist.

Jaw dropping isn’t even click bait. I’ve been refinishing furniture since I was about 13 and this is the most stunning work I’ve seen. That’s high end, pure class. Your work is exemplary, and you have a wonderful artistic eye. You could see a huge return if you auction those pieces.

I think auctioning is an excellent idea. Angie showed us a piece axfew videos ago that she said was just sitting in her shop and not selling. But it was _beautiful_ ! She said she priced it at $125. I was gobsmacked. Auctioning might be a good idea - with a reserve, of course.

Oh, thank you so much Steve! To answer your question, yes, I scrape veneer tops all the time! It’s often safer than sanding old finish off them, especially if they are thing. WOW!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Very Impressed Angie! Two beautiful transformations….just top notch….my father refinished furniture….I mean the no paint kind…stripping….sanding, staining etc….He would get discouraged from time to time because of course you never get paid adequately for the time and patience you put into a piece! I would just say Dad you will never get paid for the love you poured into it….but you have the satisfaction knowing you did a great job and your pieces turn out beautiful🌟🙌🏻 I’m 60 and boy I wish I had him here to teach me…he passed 24 years ago….I worked as a Nurse for 33 years and I have always had a love of old furniture….I still have a lot of pieces he did for my hubby and I when we were first starting out 40 years ago….I cherish them knowing the hard work he put into them❤️ When I hear the passion in your voice when restoring the pieces you do….it reminds me of him. So I’m retired now and I tinker and am enjoying trying my hand at it….thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with us every week…I always learn so much😊kim

That wood is AMAZING!!!!! You couldn't have had a better color choice to stain it. Now I'll be looking for elm furniture! Another exquisite flip!

Thanks, again. The "Up In Smoke" coloration reminds me of the sleek fur of a tabby-abysinian mix cat. Great.

Another great work! I appreciate you restoring wood back to a more natural finish! I get tired of others just slapping a coat of paint on a piece and calling it a day, thus ruining it! You on the other hand, bring back the beauty of the wood!

That train popping on the stretcher of the necessity the curved drawer fronts. Omg, that is my favorite piece! Look how gorgeous that bit is! Fantastic all around, but that grain was absolutely hidden before and that stain really made it stunning!

Love the elm pieces. I adore the stain on the second piece. The way the piece absorbed the stain was stunning and dramatic. Thanks woodwoman.

I love how the up in smoke stain really brought out the contrast in the grain. Looks almost like TV static. Both excellent looking pieces. 👏🤙

Angie, I LOVE that you sanded underneath where no one will see. If I am painting something, I always paint the undersides that no one will see... it just feels like doing that has more integrity... and then, it's about my relationship with the object (I often feel as if inanimate things are living!) and not about what anyone else will think. I feel the piece will be happier!
