Reggie deserved every ovation, every compliment, every accolade he got! I am a MJ fanatic for life but I have never seen anyone who could shoot quite like Reggie.
@@thomasdaniels6824 I mean, Detroit took them to 7, and Indiana on paper had a better roster. The season before, Tim was 2nd in MVP voting while JO was 3rd, Artest was the DPOTY, and Stephen Jackson was in his prime
Reggie was wise to retire while still in great shape and still playing well, scoring 27 points. I've seen many greats hang on a little too long and then are forced into retirement when they're over the hill or injuries start plaguing them. But with Reggie he left still on top of his game or close to it. And he's a class act, never discrediting a team when he loses and shows respect when beating them. He's a rare specie. And I will always remember those killer 3s. Hitting them time and again with the game on the line.
Agreed. This was a great game for him to have gone out on. One of his best games of the season, in front of the home crowd .... Beautiful. Sad, no question about it .... but still beautiful nonetheless.
I remember watching Pacer games with my Dad especially during the playoffs on TV. I started to play Basketball and wanted to be like Reggie. Though now I don't play anymore, I still believe a lot of what the Man stood for in not giving up has helped me become who I am. Thanks for the Memories #31. True class act.
i was a 13 year old pistons fan at this time and i balled my freakig eyes out... hell, im 25 now and damn near teared up all over again watching this just now.
As a lifelong Hoosier and die hard Pacers fan it broke my heart Reggie wasn't able to get a ring. With his greatness, leadership, loyalty, work ethic, and his unwaivering class he deserved it. "Reggie Reggie Reggie!"
I remember watching this very game back in the days and its an emotional moment. The recognition is well deserved. Truly one of the best to play the game.
barrack ocommas uh yeah. reggie knew it was the year for the pacers or pistons. to much toughness and defense for the lakers that year. with artest and oneil they were number one at the time as defenders inside and outside. i remember hearing about lebron hype and artest always dominated him.
Reggie is my childhood idol! I remember being at the game where he hit two 3's and two Free throws in 8 second with his Indiana jeresy in Madison Square Garden! Reggie hold a special place for me, he gotten me though some hard time in my life with awesome play.. he will be miss!
@@woo_shynen8805 LeBron is the superstars that always needed the most help win and still was only 2-2 with the most stacked team in Miami. Reggie got 10x more guts and heart than that tinman LeBron
I was at the game. I grew up watching Reggie and he will always be my favorite player. This video still brings tears to my eyes. Simply amazing player/person. He's FOREVER a Hoosier!
One of the important players that defined the generation and also the franchise, despite not winning the title. I was the Bulls fan, but how he gave his heart and soul every night was legendary, especially those 3s he made to put fear into Knicks/Bulls fans.
As a pacers fan…this still hurts my heart. Reggie miller put his heart and soul into every game with the one goal…win a championship. They had such a talented really good team with Reggie, Artest, Jackson, O’Neal, Tinsley and Foster. If that stupid mallace at the palace didn’t happen they would have won it all and Reggie would have gotten his ring and sailed off into the sunset…and that hurts big time.
Being from Sacramento(Folsom)we knew where all the Kings players lived. One of those players, Reggie Miller, had a full court in his back yard, and my sons would play there all the time. He is such a great guy, opening his home for the boys that really looked up to him. He made a huge impact on many kids lives.
Hubie Brown always there to carefully detail the important moments so that we can all realize just how important Miller was to his team - and the game of basketball
Almost got tears out me man i hated him back then but hes a great guy and he gave indiana everything he had never left and was ballin out i salute that guy man hes great
man, i was entering college after that summer, hard to believe this was 7 years ago already, legends never die and reggie definitely deserves a ring and to be in the HOF!
Reggie, Nash, Stockton, Iverson, Barkley, Baylor, Malone, VC, Tmac, Ewing - These are the greatest players to have never won a ring but should've won at least one.
that's competitiveness he's getting his Farewell Standing Ovation and he's more pissed off that they lost he really wanted to win and that year I think the Pacers would have won it all tough break that he's definitely a legend and the local IE guy
Before the 07'-08' season, Boston reached out to him to join the roster but he declined because there wasn't much time for him to get back into shape to play again. He attempted to get in shape but in the end it was just another story of how miller could've won a title
Steven Huizing reggie said he tried but i assume those ankles he had fixed he was done mentally. so when he tried to shock his body he just couldnt get it going. once u let the fire go out its over. tobad
warriors fan here, miller time is miller time and Reggie delivered most of the time. with the game on the line i'd rather have Reggie shoot the last shot than steph.... I've never seen anybody hit more shots at the end of a game.
@Greg Hubbard so what? Just a few players became HOF without a ring, and reggie is one of them. Ray allen better them Reggie? I don't think so, but is your opinion i respect that.
@@patrickoriley6791 Ray was traded. And the league blackballed him for the Miliwakee/Philly series. Also how Ray conducted his contact without an agent.
Aaimah Yes we would have. Well. The Pacer fans back then would've. They hated him for the first years he got to the Pacers, after that, they loved him. It's like what happened to Dwight Howard. He was beloved all his time in Orlando, but the second he left, everybody in Orlando hated him. If Reggie would've left, he would've been the most hated player in the NBA
It’s just the culture of the league back then. There was loyalty to a team, fan base and city that isn’t there today. Today’s casual fan can’t claim a team when they only know the 1 or 2 players that the media will talk about because players are chasing the money above winning.
Shaq leaving Orlando in 1996....Charles Barkley forcing his way out of Philly in 1992...Moses Malone leaving the Rockets in 1982 to join the defending conference champs....how far back do you want me to go? Get out of here with that "culture of the league back then" BS. That's revisionist history.
