The 1st to 2nd shift is no problem at all, you just have to shift it a little earlier. I own a G82 M4 Manual and it is completely more satisfying to drive than the Competition and so too the previous M4, which I also owned. The new G82 is the classiest M3/4 since the original.

i agree. the g82 was my first manual car. took a few days to get used to 1-2 and now i don’t even think about it

Shifting earlier defeats the purpose of a performance manual car. I'd like to rev out 1st gear at least a teeny bit, instead of shifting it at 2000RPM like some kind of diesel.

I used to hate the look esp that grill but now I think it is one of the best looking cars ever made (not super car) 10/10 masterpiece

With the CS or CSL grille, or this Adro bumper, it's such an aggressive looking car. I'm looking at getting a G80 M3 as a family car in the future.

Absolutely hate that rev hang is a thing on so many new cars. Glad that it can be removed in some of them. M4 is cool but that 911 will do right by you ;)

Yeah...it's such a great daily. But it's gotten softer around the edges. An automatic CS is probably the way to go.

Adro is most likely the reason why I'll be picking up a G82... Of course a manual even though it won't put the power down like an xdrive

I have a ‘21 G80 M3 with 16.78k miles as of now. Around 11k miles I needed a new transmission and got it for free under warranty. It was faulty I guess. I posted it on the bimmerpost forum

KW Height Adjustable Springs. Previous owner had it on H&Rs which were awful and not designed for G8x cars. I swapped them out for the KW HAS kit.

Thanks for the info… I’m considering going for 2025 model. After your review definitely automatic transmission :). Lowering kit and spacers are first thing to do on my list and wondering is just changing the downpipes with stock exhaust triggering any check engine lights while possibly improving overall tone of the exhaust… What do you think?

@@DanielSkrbic You will get a check engine light with the downpipes. You'll need to tune it out, or get catted downpipes.

@@lockingdiff i am currently shopping for a m4 to replace my Boss302, which is very engaging, i fear to lose the fun, but wish to gain adaptive damping of m4 plus luxury and (full disclosure)some « brand prestige » . Also m4 has the power adder factory installed!

I'd imagine to preserve clutch life a bit more. Or because they just wanted to keep all manuals as basic as possible. Honestly, the gearbox isn't designed for a lot of power. The automatic is, though. There's only 1 manual on the market *today* that I can think of that's designed to handle a lot of power and it's the Porsche 911S or GTS. A few years ago the Hellcat would make that list too.

@@MrHawaiiboy510 Camaro is out of production though. New Mustangs make decent power, though, yes. But 911 clutches can handle serious abuse, over 600HP from the 3.0 turbo cars. And yes, I'm inclined to agree, it's just a marketing ploy for BMW to say "hey! we have a manual M3/M4!" They did nothing to make this a good gearbox. Allegedly, the Supra doesn't suffer from some of these issues, though. The shifter and throws certainly felt different from the car I sat in. I need to drive one to see if the rev-hang is bad.

It's definitely the purists' choice. But you're also limited to the options you can spec the car with. And the clutch can't hold much power if you decide to tune it. Whereas, something like a manual 911 you can add 150WHP without a whole lot of worry about clutch degradation...because Porsche. I would highly recommend the G8x platform with xDrive, though. The ZF is amazing, and the xDrive can still offer RWD thrills.

Those who want a manual also want a RWD and really don't care about power. You can get power that is more than enough for the streets out of these and if you need, bolt ons.
