Ever put those foam vents in a trailer with a metal roof? Same dinky toys r us trusses.. And i have insulation right against the metal roof and no vents..just a block inbetween the trusses at the end over the wall.. And im adding 2x6s like you so we can put up drywall..but i cant figure out how to add venting and keep the insulation against the metal so it doesnt rain condensation drops in my attic.. Any experience with that? Any info would help tons

You do great work. My brother-in-law has pretty much rebuilt the entire mobile home he and my sister live in. He even added an enclosed heated porch big enough for the laundry and the big freezer. It's also nice to store heavy winter clothing and hunting clothes. They live in an old mobile home that was supposedly the best of the best, but he too discovered the shell was built poorly. Also the manufacturer cut plumbing holes big enough to be super highways for rodents. Thate all been fixed. Thanks to him, a great carpenter.

The purpose of those vents are to prevent the insulation from blocking the soffit vents. The soffit vents allow airflow through the attic. In the summer, it cools the attic, thus keeping the trailer cooler, and in the winter, it keeps the attic space (unconditioned space) cold, so that the snow on the roof doesn't melt from underneath (because the water will flow down, and when it hits the overhang, it freezes, causing an ice dam. The ice dam would then prevent more water from flowing off of the roof, and standing water on the roof will eventually cause leaks.

Very smart on the plywood floor. Unfortunately I didnt think of that when doing some remodeling on different rooms in my house and I have the exact problem you are going to avoid. Ashley is so lucky to have a husband that has knowledge and does this stuff for her. My husband dont help me do anything. His excuse is he don't know how. So I have to do it myself. I don't know how either I just go take a RU-vid lesson and try.

I sold & installed flooring for the majority of my life. I installed carpet, vinyl, laminate countertops, but my specialty was tile. My favorite grout to clean after it's been installed is Laticrete Spectralock, & it's not as difficult to install as some people would have you believe. I'm 5'2 & weigh 128 lb, but I did have powerful rotator cuff muscles for a woman, according to the masseuse who told me so. You never have to seal it & I had white grout for 16 years & 4 people took a shower in it almost every day for those 16 years & it was still white. If I would have known about the Schluter Shower System in '96 It would have lasted a lifetime. I have had many a DIY customer come back time after time for information. I am very familiar with the Schluter Tile Systems. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Also, the videos that are on Schluters Website is very informative. Anything thing you want to know that I can assist you with just ask, I enjoy your videos I would love to help if I can.

@lyndastrait
@lyndastrait 5 лет назад
@@sherrysearcy1409 I used Epoxy Grout, to begin with, which is non-porous so no grime can get into it begin with. More than likely your original grout was regular sanded grout which is very porous and requires resealing once the sealer stops beading water, the only way I have found to successfully revive the grout is Aqua Mix Grout Colorant, it's an epoxy paint that coats & colors the grout & it looks great afterward. The grout will clean much easier and is available online. It costs around $30 to $35 & worth it. My Customers loved it.

This would be the perfect time to run extra wiring for a separate ceiling fan switch and recessed lighting. You also might want to think about home network wiring and even wiring for a wall mounted tv. You may not have a need or want it now, but later its there if you do, also an added value if you decide to sell the property in the future.

We got to see your your "Thought process" and your "How too" but did not have to watch all the sawing and cutting. I told my husband that your trailer will be built better that some houses. May I ask are you a carpenter by trade or something else? Good job. Suggeestion for the rest of the house. You should also glue the new joist to the old when sistering them. The old ones are so flimsy that they may split under any stress. This will also add additional support to the new ones, not that it is needed.

I love that your trying to do it right since so many people have an attitude that mobile homes aren't worth fixing the right way because they think they won't get it back out of the property. 👍👍. Glad to see plywood roof decking. Your house is better built than people think. They need to research the history of the manufactured home industry and regulations. There haven’t been “trailers” manufactured in over 40 years when the US Congress passed the Mobile Home Safety and Construction Act in 1976. One of the easiest ways to differentiate is, crank out windows were banned from new construction when the 1976 Act was passed due to fire hazards. In 1980, more safety and construction regulations went into effect and the name “mobile home” was eliminated and replaced with “manufactured home”. By the time you are done with this upgrade and remodel project your house will be every bit as sturdy, maybe more so than any site built home. You’re doing a WONDERFUL job!!!! Thank you for sharing your journey 🙂

Your the only you tuber I wait anxiously for the next video! I do wish tho, not a criticism, your videos where numbered, ie., EP 1..I also am glad you home school! I'm 56 and learned how to figure the angle that I'll retain! Blessings to your entire family, missed Ashley in this one!

We have been numbering the mobile home remodel videos to help keep them in order. Our videos can be a little random at times so we don't like to number them all. Thank you!
