I love that you get how us Swifties think and see in her what we see. You understand her music and the still-beating-heart that she offers up in her hands. Thank you so very much my friend! Watching the very few male reactors who get emotional & angry both for what Taylor went thru & what you imagine so many others have gone thru helps heal some of the damage & trauma in me & I'm sure in many others as well! It's not just seeing you really becoming a swiftie but also seeing a man who clearly is an ally for women. It honestly just makes something in my heart a little bit lighter so thank you so very much for being open about your emotions while doing these reactions! I agree with your comment on us as swifties always singing right with her and feeling the songs with her. For me, Im a few years older than Taylor, we went through a lot of the same things around the same times- and she speaks on things that universally a lot of fans relate to bc of our pasts. I love that you really dig into the emotional aspect of the songs

The fireworks moment is incredible, but the moment that gets me is the look she's giving on that last "you should've known." That absolute hatred on her face is so powerful because it shows that she DOES really really know that it's on him, that HE should've known, not her.

I think a lot of Swifties connect w her music because it’s relatable and hits close to home. I heard Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve and had an intense emotional reaction and couldn’t figure out why. like ugly sobbing on the bathroom floor ima random Tuesday and immediately swept into a massive depressive episode. The song had triggered a flashback from my own situation that happened 10 years ago and I finally realized I couldn’t “just move on” was because I was so traumatized. I’d pushed it down and packed it in a box and stuffed it in the attic of my brain so that I could get through the day to day but I never could connect with someone romantically and never knew why I couldn’t get passed it. Feels super stupid that a song made me realize that but enough people told me I was crazy that I believed it for years.

For the record, the live version is almost always better than the studio version. Taylor is magic live - she was made to be a performer. I know you like to have the lyrics - imo genius lyrics is the best to have open while listening. You can learn a lot about the songs there and get some context as well. Great reaction, but you missed some of her facial expressions when you were fiddling around. I love Oreo and Kobe's new haircut, they are so cute. Haunted is another song that has a great live performance, there are all kinds of surprises on the stage, and it is a spectacular performance.

Although the age difference is super problematic, I think the worst part is his character- he is a classic narcissist and manipulator. She idolized him because at the time he was seen as a "real artist" by the industry and a lot of the media was writing her off as just a little country girl who had no talent. No one believed she wrote her own songs because of her age, so she wrote the entire Speak Now album solo (which Dear John is on). So when he paid attention to her and made comments about her talent and age (ironically) she was drawn to him. The part where she talks about not picking up the phone is because he would apparently call and break up with her very often and then send very very very long emails to entice her back in. He also dated other pop starts like Katy Perry and Jessica Simpson who were closer in age to him and in Jessica Simpson's book she talks about how toxic and manipulative he was and shared similar experiences to him playing mind games and putting her down. He is sober now and blames his behaviour on alcohol but to this day he is linked to a 24 year old actress.

Taylor was 19 when they “officially” started dating… But he slipped into her DM’s long before.. He contacted her on social media asking her if she wanted to do a duet with him. (Not her team, her directly) they did the song, then they went on tour, THEN they “officially” started dating… John himself called her a child in interviews.. several of his ex-girlfriends has talked about how abusive he was. When he and Jessica Simpson broke up he went on radio bashing their sex-life (slut shaming her) and he completely destroyed her reputation. I’m thinking that’s what Taylor is referring to when she says I took your matches before fire could catch me.
