Hey Terry, I LO♥️E all of your pieces. I use to run home from school every day to watch Teresa in “Get Chrissy Love” that was my favorite tv show after the movie. So sorry to hear of her untimely passing, she was still beautiful and Heaven only knows what all she went thru as an entertainer and actress, like you said back in the 70’s it was hard on black actresses and actors as well. Always look forward to your next piece. Have a great weekend and continued blessings in all your endeavors🙏🏽👑♥️
I always thought Whitney Houston favored her. I never missed an episode of Get Christie Love. I never knew she passed that way, may she rest in peace.....
I watched her when I was a little girl in the 70s. I loved watching her and Dihanne Carroll. It was so wonderful to see Black women in major tv roles. R.I.P. Teresa Graves.
I agree I kept looking like that can't be Theresa there nose is not super the same at all Teresa has a small tiny nose. They don't look the same. That lady look like she is in her late 60's . I compared the pics it can't be het
Yes Whitney Houston looks a lot like Teresa and if you see more pictures of Teresa you will say that she also had the same smile and mannerisms as Whitney, it's uncanny. I am not sure howTeresa started with the Doodletown Pipers and got to California. I know she was born in Houston, Texas but her parents relocated to Waco Texas when she was a toddler, not sure where she graduated from high school. She was definitely a talented beauty. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wjEv_hMkvtI.html. This you tube video compares Whitney with Teresa and it is uncanny how much they look alike and have similar mannerism although they are not related. Her speaking voice is also similar but not the singing voices.
Here's a memory of Teresa Graves. I was serving in the Army in Vietnam in 1969. Bob Hope came to Chu Lai with his show. On that show was Connie Stevens and Teresa Graves. Ms Graves came out did her part of the show which was outstanding. Then out comes Connie Stevens. Did her singing and for whatever reason they lined up some soldiers to receive a kiss on the cheek from Ms Stevens. Well one of the soldiers who was in line was a brother. Ms Stevens proceeded to kiss all of the white boys but when she got to the brother she stuck her hand out to shake his hand. We started booing that witch as loud as we could and we were getting up to leave that foul show when out of the back comes Teresa Graves who was dressed in a beautiful skin tight yellow jumpsuit. Ms Graves gabbed that brother and laid and big kiss on his lips. She then turned and chastised Connie Stevens, who was standing there with a shit eating grin on her face. We still walked out of the show after that. However, never forgot what Ms Graves did that day. It meant a lot to the black soldiers who were in the audience on that day. That's how I will always remember Ms Teresa Graves.
💅😲Are you kidding that was 1969 and you Brothers thought that lining up for a white woman she was expected to kiss you? She had every right to refuse kissing you black men that's her preference in support of her people to date or give an idea of dating . Just as long as they are civilized to us black people and treat us fairly and respectfully then we all can be friends. The irony that I find amazing is that you all had that beautiful black gorgeous woman way more talented than Connie Stevens performing in giving her best for y'all and y'all didn't line up to be kissed by her?! Y'all wanted to pout and carry on because that white woman chose her right to be able to kiss whoever she wanted to in a time that jim crow laws were just demantle by L.B. Johnson in 1968 but the racisms and black people using the back doors of white folks homes to come into to work in their homes the south was still going on and we were segragated in public movie theaters, and dranked out of water fountains for coloreds and water fountains for whites.
As a teenager, I had a HUGE crush on her! She was a very talented woman! I watched Get Christie Love every time it aired. I was sad upon hearing of her death, but I am sure that GOD has her now. So she is in a very special place! For a time, we had Christie Love. GOD has Teresa Graves!
Another great story Swoop ! I was waiting for this one! Whitney looks a lot like her. Way before all the plastic surgery today's stars get, we had natural beauty.
If she died in a house fire at the age of 55.. Why does she look as if she was much older?.. That had to be her mother on that picture because that lady appeared to be 10 or 20 years older than 55!...
Yes the only thing you could find is the movie, they said they made and TV series very hard to find, the TV series I forgot that they made TV series, they need to put it on DVD that would be awesome.
She's smart, she valued God to be given an eternal life as opposed to Hollywood for a short-lived career & the difficulty that comes with it,she made the right choice and she has my respect, love her,may she rest in peace 🕊️
If you think that Hollywood and Christianity was not one and the same I got a bunch a gnomes, fairies and goblins running around in the woods near where I live to show to you but don't tell any one else hear.
thank you so much for remembering this beautfiful talented woman. it really bothered me when Tv host and I mean afro americans would not give mrs. Graves her recognition. it was always another beauty, Pam Grier. Theresa Graves was our First female fighter on tv as a cop, detective and had her own show. i was so hurt to hear she had died in a fire. had she hotten divorce and she had no children. awwwww. what of relatives, would definitely love to hear from some of them just on their memories of her also. Again thanks so much for including this beauty of a woman.
Every time I get a notification from your channel, I stop what I'm doing and watch your latest goodies. I greatly appreciate it, me going back to memory lane, THANK YOU, TERRY!
Great video. However I wonder if that last picture is her? That pic to me looks older than 54 plus the nose is different? Just a thought but great video.
Thank you for letting us k on what happened to Teressa Graves. I always enjoyed her and was proud to see a beautiful black woman play a strong role as her character in GET CHRISTIE LOVE.! Whitney Houston reminded me of Teressa so .much. I was sad to learn that she died in a house fire.she was a beautiful and humbled soul
That was very nice story about our spiritual sister. You really showed her respect and her choice in her career. Please look into what she did after retiring.
Wow Teresa Graves was a very beautiful talented black queen she most definitely was a triple threat I heard about her becoming a Jehovah Witness that older pic wasn’t her though🖤
Black women in the 70's and 80's we're so fine. If dating apps would've been out in those times it would be hard to pick a woman because they were so beautiful and natural 😍
EXACTLY..I grew up in the 60s and 70s..We black females had our own thick, long natural hair..Some wore wigs however most wore their own hair..No long, heavy, nasty weaves.. and we ate better food back then..
Back then you would see soooo many just Naturally Fine AF Black women all around you and even if they were a bigger woman they weren't obese, they carried their weight well...
Absolutely, she was a beautiful woman and you're absolutely Right, women in Hollywood were treated bad and unfortunately black women had to be two times better than their counterparts. I'm happy not only for this report, but for her to walk away on her own terms, not fame and fortune driven. That's having a moral compass. Great report
She also appeared on “Laugh In” dancing in a bikini. Talk about knock out figure, she had one. Hopefully, religions now allow members to have tasteful entertainment careers. RIP
THE late Teresa Graves was a devout JEHOVAH'S witness and I believed this hampered her career. There were certain things she was unwilling to do because it was a against her religion just FYI
It didn't hamper her career far from it, it made her realize that putting God first was the most important thing in life, everything else in this world was secondary.
@@andrewforte3852 Well it hampered her career in the fact that its teachings clashed with what she was currently doing at time whicg was acting "PATNA" so yes I believe at the end, she finally did have to make choice however thats just my opinion, Okay
@@jacquelinerussell8530 That's your opinion which is not based on any tangible proof, you're bias and prejudice is due to the fact she chose to be a Jehovah's Witness.
Being a JW hampered her career, plain and simple. She could not reconcile the Hollywood business dealings and lifestyles with being a JW, and a pioneer to boot. She had to make a decision to choose fame or her faith-she chose faith. Michael Jackson was a JW who chose fame.
Yes, I remember her, she died in a house fire in Los Angeles, on Crenshaw, not far from when Nipsey the rapper died. She was a Jehovah's witness, at the time of her death, so I know she is alright 🤗
@@jacquesminor6781The point made. by @Valerie johnson was that Jehovah Witnesses believe in Jesus, and also have high standards and respect for the Bible. It would be so much better if ppl like you would jump to reason first, and not look to judge. Most times you'll end up wrong.
@Trerry Swoope Videos Teresa was always hands down one of My favorite actresses of the time. I had heard about how She passed and I am still broken hearted over it. Thank You, Terry for all that You do remembering Our Loved Ones. Another great video. Keep up the good work!
She was a delightful and beautiful woman. I miss you, my spiritual sister . Christopher and I will see you in Paradise. May our loving Jehovah God remember the love you showed for his name and your hard work in preaching the Kingdom of God as Jesus did. Love from Nancy
Hi, terry man, I love your content, I met Teresa graves when she was in the doodle town pipers as a dancer the girl, that I loved at the time had a sister in that dance troop so that's how I met Teresa graves this was long before she became famous.
Thank you for sharing. I too wondered what happened. I loved Get Christie Love!! ❤ It was my Saturday show as a kid. This is black history as well. Rest on Queen Teresa!!! Thank you for your BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I love Teresa so much. I was introduced to her through reruns of Laugh-In in the 80's and she instantly became my favorite cast member. I was crushed when she didn't return as a regular after the third season. I have a copy of her album - I wish she had recorded more! I only have the movie of Get Christie Love! The TV series doesn't seem to have an official release, which is sad. I wrote and directed a stage version of Laugh-In back in 2007 and in the program I dedicated the show to the memory of Teresa and the other cast members who had passed. My favorite bit she did on Laugh-In was the segments with Jack Benny: "Keep it movin, Keep it movin! OW!" There will never be another like her.
I'm 42 and most of your videos are on the cusp of me being born in '79. But I'm glad I subscribe and watch. Its great to know about some of the history before I was born. #salute 💯
I'm beginning to believe the rumor about her being Whitney's biological mom...😮😮😮 They sound the same, she also had a beautiful singing voice, and their resemblance was uncanny.
Wow, a great Queen actress, icon. So many of today's young do not know about these wonderful icons. So glad we have you tube to tell the real struggle and history, especially personal to me being age 58 now. I grew up watching many legends. RIP/GOD speed in heaven Queen Teresa Graves.
Thank You Terry the video. Theresa Graves was a beautiful actress. Loved her on Laugh In and Get Christie Love and other movies. I knew she died but didn't know how until you mentioned how.Back then my Mother got the jacket style then, had a afro. Wish they had made dolls from some of the 70's actresses all were beautiful.
I always watched Teresa Graves she ,Diane Carol, Pam Grier along with all the others I haven't mentioned were the highlights of black entertainment. I was always fascinated with their characters such brilliant and talented actors and role models. I loved them all. To God be the glory 🙏❤
This is a great video, about one of the most beautiful and talented Black women of the 60's and 70's, however, I'm surprised you didn't mention she was a regular on Laugh In. That I believe is what brought her to national prominence. Not saying it was the case for Theresa Graves, but for some performers, leaving showbiz is literally a life or death decision.
I first noticed her on Laugh-In. I loved her and Goldie Hawn as the Sock-it-to-me girls. I also watched Get Christie Love. One reason that she left was the studio she was with showed mad respect for her new beliefs and morals. They allowed any interested staff to pray and read the Daily Text with her every morning. There was no cursing on the set. She no longer carried a gun in her roles, and they allowed her to leave when she had meetings and time for her ministry. When new people took over, they didn't acknowledge those things. She wasn't allowing anything to come before her service to Jehovah.
Teresa was in the congregation that my family was in, she was such a nice beautiful sister. I know that Jehovah will bring her back in the resurrection. See you my dear sister in paradise!
We loved Ms. Grave's movies, her TV series as well!!!!!! Teresa was a beautiful, talented, intelligent, gifted actress, very much, unsung!!!!!!! Goodnight Ms. Graves, we miss you!!!!!
if you see more pics of her and video you will see that Whitney really looked like her and they had the same mannerisms. Check out this you tube video where the two are being compared. But no they are not related as insinuated in this video.
Thanx Terry, I appreciate you doing this one, I missed her and I know You would have added her to your 70's best looking black woman, however your 10 were perfect right down to Vanity, so Thanx for hearing me, luuuvvv Theresa...
