Barbara was never bias. She asked questions, no journalist would ever think about asking. She pushed the boundaries, but was always respectful. Truly one of a kind. 2022 ends by taking a true legend/icon. RIP BARBARA 🙏🕊
My Aunt Kathy was a reporter for years. I joined my high school’s newspaper as a senior partly due to the influences of my Aunt Kath, Oprah, and Barbra. I got my first job as a professional writer at 23 and never looked back. Eleven years later, I’m still paying my bills with my words. Thanks Barbra. You didn’t know it, but you helped teach a little girl in a wheelchair what determination in action looks and acts like. You helped teach me how to be the very best in the room, how to not take no for an answer, and how to quite literally carve out space for my queer, disabled voice where there was none.
She was a legend in journalism, remember when she became the first female co-anchor of a nightly newscast with Harry Reasoner, and all the controversy it generated. They criticized her for being overpaid, then she turned into a cult icon after the SNL skits and famous interviews. Her interviews were must-see events, don't think anyone reached her level of fame and importance in TV news, probably surpassing Walter Cronkite.
I am soooooooooo sad that this pioneer. THIS LEGEND. THIS JOURNALISTIC GIANT HAS LEFT US. OHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT A JUGGERNAUT SHE WAS AND IS. NOW AND FOREVER!!!!
I love her personality, voice, empathy, hearing, emotions, the movement of her ability to hear and create the questions with the harmony of her body movements. She made me smile, laugh , surprise me, react, question me!! Unique, Amazing, Intelligent and with many Class. Thank you Mrs. Barbara Walters you will be in my heart forever. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentine
I am British but throughout my life I was of course aware of the respectful reputation of Barbara Walters in the USA. However, just hearing this morning of her passing and viewing some of her most notable 'firsts' of a female journalist/presenter and interviewer which I have greatly admired, I was made most notably aware of her grace which was so apparent. She was a pioneer in the predominantly male environment of television but she never lost her compassion, her humanity, her humour and her femininity. She was and is a towering inspiration for women of all ages...then, now and in the future. Rest in peace Barbara.
Just found out…😢 The most trusted name in television. What a legacy she leaves behind. Who hasn’t she interviewed or worked with… Walters’ work speaks for itself. No spin or agenda; just the facts. She will be missed very much. I grew up watching her as a child.
True journalism with very special talent connecting with people and being respectful of different views ... need more of these special talent people. Her actions as person and as journalism she believes freedom of speech no covers ups..We the people will miss you and journalism like you..very respectful lady..
I'm truly saddened by her passing She was such peaceful n humble human being May rest of beautiful soul With tears coming down my cheeks We simply adored u n u will b missed immensely 😪💔
Awww....one of my favourite women......I never saw this until just now. I just watched the Special called, "OUR BARBARA" last night on ABC not realizing that she was already gone. I'm SO glad I got to see it. If you missed it see if you can still catch it somewhere. It was an EXCELLENT Show. I learned a lot about Barbara that I didn't realize. I'd watched her over her Career for decades and never missed a "Barbara Walter's Special"! She had a way with people like no one else. As much as I also love Oprah, I did favour Barbara just a wee bit more. She had a very full life and made it till 93. I know her family especially will miss her and I pray for them and her daughter, Jacquie. She has certainly left a HUGE Legacy.
Just like Queen Elizabeth there are generations of us that literally cannot remember any point in our lives when we did not have Barbara Walters in our lives on our televisions. Her interviews always evoked that sense of directness of any subjects we wanted to hear answers to. She was always fascinating to watch during her interviews with literally a cross section of people in politics, entertainment and sports. She never was crude or spoke over her interview subject. When she was probing for the truth, she was able to get it. I admired her. The way Barbara Walters taught us how to have a proper discussion and communicate respectfully is in no small way lost on me. She set the bar for all television reporters, news anchors and talk show hosts. A legend in Television.
An amazingly true Dinosaurus Rectumus. Wawa will truly be mist. She died peacefully in my sleep. Happy New Year grand lady:) Her love for Roy Cohen, the most giving, kind, empathetic, and respected man alive (and Nancy & Donald Regan's best friend of all time) was unparcelled and the closest that two men ever got together without getting AIDS! Barbra was a master class in masculine integrity. Her devotion to Roy Cohen, the love of her short life, only echos and validates her sound judgement and meticulous awe whilst shadowed and bathed in the divine and beautiful, Ms. Cohen, the Emperor of all angels. (where's my barf bag?)
I'm glad in this video it mentions a few times how well paid barbra was. her net worth was at least $117 millionnnnnnnnnn probably over $200 million. she lived well and also well into old age.
Class act.... Got an "A" on a report I did in high school based on 20/20 with Barbara and Hugh Downs. - My English teacher was probably shocked I watched the program. Thanks Mrs. Herriman.
Without her no Oprah, Connie Chung, Joan Lunden, Jane Pauley, Robin Roberts, Hoda Kotbe, Savannah Guthrie, Judy Woodruff, Andrea Mitchell, Leslie Stalh, Diane Sawyer, Erin Burnett, ect.
My deepest condolences and sympathies for loss of Barbara Walters, She was a journalistic innovator, and She helped, building a firm journalistic foundation for many other women in news media, journalistic reporting, and throughout her historic, and Legendary Career she presented herself with poise, and classic professionalism, with directness and openness. She asked the unique, and sometimes difficult questions, and she will Be Remembered for her many Contributions to the News Media, Journalism, television Reporting Timeline. Prayers for all her, family, friends and long time Journalistic, and Media Colleagues, Author Advocate, Activist for Humanity, Jason Sandifer, Michigan, 01/02/2023
A remarkable woman. And how remarkable that one of her first assignments was covering the funeral of John F Kennedy. And years later, being live on-air with Peter Jennings (from Ottawa Ontario, of course) waiting for word after his son John F Kennedy Jr goes missing. A great life. RIP Barbara Walters.
At least she admitted that her advancements in her career was simply because she was a female and leveraged the fact that the news stations required token females in certain positions.
It is SUCH a tremendous shame that The View has become what it is. I would never consider The View as one of Barbara’s greatest accomplishments. She accomplished MUCH greater things.
@@txtrang2515 ABC executives may be to blame for the seeming decline of The View - by bringing in anti-vaxxers like Jenny McCarthy and odious narcissists like Meghan Domenec.
Fact checked your statement with Culture. It seems Barbara Walter's did accused Corey Of damaging Hollywood. You would think Walter's would have said instead, Hollywood damages children. It is written: Everything hidden shall be revealed.
