remote starter wont work? check if the valet switch mode is on 

I've tried everything I knew to make the omegalink gm7 on this 2013 chevy cruze work that I had installed 2 years ago. I bought an identical one so I'd know exactly how to plug and play it, it did not work either. I could get it to program and lock/unlock the doors but not engage the remote starter. I dug through several videos and found something about a valet mode being set on the car. I hit the lock and trunk open on the OEM remote and then it allowed my remote start to work. now I have a new remote starter installed and the old one as well.
