My pony had these warts and was extremely painful. He stayed at my vet for five weeks while both ears were treated with this drug. He was treated every other day for a week, then a week off to recover, then another week of treatments, and so on for those five weeks. I am happy to say the warts cleared up completely and he is no longer ear shy. He does wear a fly mask with ears all summer because the virus is spread by flies and we don’t want to risk him getting infected again.
Poor Glimmer! The amount of wart tissue you took out of that ear is just awful! Thank you for taking such good care of him. I'm sure that medication can't be cheap, but it should really improve his quality of life.
It was supremely satisfying to see all that crusty wart build up come off. I hope the cream works so I can see you do the other one. He's got to feel better with all of that out of his ear. ❤
The amount you removed was surprising. Hope he responds well, you have access to plenty of boxes and during the course no transfer. Appreciate you sharing.
Sweet Glimmer, so happy to see that he will be a happier, more comfortable horse. All of those crusties you took out of his right ear just looked horrible. Poor guy!!
It's horse hpv; instead of human papiloma virus it's equine papiloma virus. Imiquimod (ihm-ICK-que-mod) is used in humans to treat hpv infections like genital warts, or other hpv warts. This cream stimulates a few different immune responses to help control the growths and hopefully help your horse beat the virus. Glad Glimmer got treated. Poor boy.
While living in N.Y. State: 4 of nine horses I owned (in pasture) acquired mussel warts from wild deer coming into pasture. My vet recommended try putting regular Avon Skin-So-Soft 2x a day first. If it didn’t work she said surgery to be done. So shocked. It worked by smothering the the warts with. Skin so soft. Gone within 3-5 days. It smothers the warts & benefits (mussel-face) the horses not needed surgery. It was amassing. Warts just shrunk & fell off. Cheaper repellant as well. I highly recommend you try this. Yes works on ear warts to. Much cheaper. Apply for 2-3 days after clear of warts. You truly will be shocked of results. Best of luck.
Not at all. Watching that stuff come out of Glimmer's ears was like watching a train wreck: horrible, but impossible to look away! He'll be so much better if the treatments succeed.
Good Grief…I have seen Ears full of Fungus but never so many warts….this poor Baby ❤❤❤…such a sweet Horse still after Years of Abuse he still trusts People….
I swear on a stack of comic books. Everytime I watch these videos, I learn something. Never knew about ear warts. Hope his healing journey goes smoothly.
Thank you for expanding what the vets are doing because I find it so educational, entertaining, interesting and love to watch. I got rid of cable I got rid of my TV and this is much better than anything I've seen on TV in a long time! 🎉🎉❤❤
LOL C.C. I was thinking the same thing 🤔. Nice job 👍 Dr. Nancy. Another outstanding procedure. Thank you for sharing with us 🙂. Blessings to all at HPH 🙌 Jennifer
So gross, poor glimmer. I hope this is effective and you are able to treat the other ear and that his quality of life keeps on improving. I would imagine the black flies would love getting in there and causing him so much pain and it’s not like he can scratch it.
Fascinating. I love this Horse Plus Vet channel. I wanted to reach in and pull a handful of warts out with her, lol. I am sure he will feel so much relief shortly.
In my nearly 50 years and over well over 100 horses this is something I have never seen. I can only recall having one filly ever having any warts at all, but I've never seen an ear full of them like that. That has to be very uncomfortable, if not painful for that poor boy to have both ears like that. I hope this treatment is successful for Glimmer to better enjoy his older years. I imagine he's still paying a price for being a big lick horse earlier in life. I know my old injuries are starting to come back and haunt me as I get older. Is this more common in certain parts of the country or in certain environments? Great job as always and I really enjoy this new HP Vets channel!
WOW! This video was very very interesting. I've never seen warts in these numbers on any animal. They had to be bugging the heck out of Glimmer. Dr. Nancy it is so educational watching your videos. You explain the whole procedure to us so clearly. You are definitely in the right place at the right time. You are a wonder.❤😊
thx for this update on Glimmer's ears. I wondered when I saw the video of Tawnee picking him up out of "witness protection" after the man who has led the protests about the big lick passed away. I saw the ears and wondered if this could be remedied .
Oh Lord, those warts are so disgusting. However, I'm so happy there's a way to treat this ear issue. Thank you all for helping him. You folks are the best.
I had no clue horses could get something like warts. I thought it looked like chucks of sawdust at first. Im glad you didn't have to really did dig into the horse's ear. I imagine that would be much worse.
What I don't understand is why Glimmer had not been treated properly in the past years. He was originally rescued in 2015 when I remember it right and since than in this "witness programme "... They should have cared better. His für is also looking terrible. Thanks, Dr. Nancy for your good care for him.
I never knew that a horse or any animal for that matter, can get these ear warts. How painful he/ she must of been in. Glad it's been taken care of ❤❤❤❤
