Glimmer has warts in his ears, and Dr Nancy has been treating them for quite some time now. In this video Glimmer is laid down so she can really get all the warts she can so Glimmer can be much happier and live more comfortably.
Glimmer is comming along so nicely. It would be wonderful if this condition would heal completly. He behaves really well, as it cant be plesent for him having to undergo this proceedure regulary. I'm sure he knows its in his best interest. He is super sweet. I am so happy nothing horrible will ever happen to him again. You are all angels at horse plus! 🐎💕👼🏼
This was sooo satisfying to see!! The way she really took her time and scraped all the warts out is just amazing I am so happy for Glimmer and I know he’s happy too!! Makes my heart smile to see this knowing where he started…with both ears just FULL of extreme warts ughhh warts are sooo disgusting I hate them!! But again, I am just so happy for this horse that’s blessed with such good care!! 🐎💗
Haven't seen this type of thing before but I like that you have been working on it and then made the decision to thoroughly clean the ears so they can heal better, medication reach them, etc. Nice work.
Excellent Job Dr.Nancy and the horse plus team Glimmer 's ears are looking a lot better ! We love you all so much and what you all do for these horses everyday! 🤠❤❤❤🐎
Whoo-hoo. Dr. Nancy and Kimberly. Glimmers ears look sooo much better, since the first day you started this process! I know he doesn't like his ears being messed with, but it's going to be so much better for him in the long run 😀🐴. All those warts must have been so painful for him 😢. Love all the doctoring and attention you give to him. Y'all are amazing!! Love and Blessings to all at HPV and HPHS too ❤️🙌 Jennifer
I'm glad to see Glimmer getting better and I will be so happy when his ears no longer look like they have a bad tick infestation every week because that skeeves me out. He's such a sweetheart

Do you think Glimmer will be head-shy after all this treatment? Poor fellow. Thank goodness he has your team caring for him and addressing these nasty warts!
Hi. First time viewer from UK here and I just wanted to say how amazed I've been to watch all I can find on Glimmers ear wart treatment. I know a little of horse care but have never heard nor seen these warts. Wow how uncomfortable it must have been for Glimmer to have those on his ears. You guys are brilliant the way you treat him and you have educated me in a very positive way to another side of equine health. Totally brilliant thank for for taking the time to show this very skilled side of such a beautiful animal.
OMG Murphy's Law Right?? Big, clean fully padded room, the only thing you are wanting to get at are both ears; and he goes down with his poll against the wall so you can barely get to the left one, never mind the right one that is smooshed between floor and wall!!
How are glimmers ears doing now that you didn't have a residential vet for a while? Continuing the treatment now or reevaluating now that you have 2 new vets?
They are looking good! But...can I ask please...why didn't his previous caretaker treat his ears?! Glimmer has been suffering with this issue for a long time. I don't understand why it wasn't treated previously.
I think I remember in the beginning, Dr Nancy said he had received treatment over the years with Clancy but it was unsuccessful, so she was going to try a different medication and regimen. I might be wrong but I seem to recall that.
New here from yt algorithm. What is wrong with his ears? It was never mentioned in the video, just a better cleaning. Was it mange, like I've seen in cats and dogs?
Hiya, glimmer has a wart infection in his ears. It’s really hard to treat as they are extremely fast growing fungus. Glimmer has been receiving treatment since arriving at horse plus. He had been rescued from auction years ago and had come from an extremely abusive background of being forced to perform ‘The Big Lick’. He was in terrible shape and he was nursed back to health by his rescuer. Sadly his owner died recently and he was put in the protective custody of Horse Plus. He’ll live his life out now at the shelter in the capable hands of Dr Nancy and the horse plus staff. Hope this helps. ❤
It's a virus all horses eventually get, even foals. Usually the body will fight it off and it's all good, but like in Glimmer's case there are times when the body doesn't fight off the virus and it causes these warts. They're treatable so as soon as they start showing up is the best time to take them to a vet for proper treatment rather than wait until it's bad like Glimmer's were. They can also appear on other parts of the body, including the tail as Glimmer would have, so it's best to check all over if you do end up finding some.
