I've done this with a 5000 and 9000 to get rid of the legs, now I've got to do it to another 9000. I could swear that I disassembled it from the bottom both times. This method is much easier and I'm kicking myself for not doing it like this before. Thanks!

@@ZackZweifel Just did it on a 9500TB. I hit it with a heat gun first. Saved me chunking my rubber mallet. It took me longer to type this than to take the legs off. Thanks again!

Easier way to remove the legs. All you need is a Phillips #2 screwdriver and remove the screws near the bottom where the foot pedal and slide the whole pipe up. You don't need a hammer at all

This is correct, and way easier.

I own two of these. The tube is riveted to the Black footplate assembly, so this video IS the only way to remove the legs without any drilling or cutting.

Unfortunetly still couldnt do it… it’s really hard to take the dw logo metal piece… doesn’t matter how hard I hit it
@ZackZweifel

@@sebastianguevaravargas3716 do you have any DW40 or any penetrating spray?! I'd spray it down and let it sit over night. Then spray it again and try hitting it again!

I tried it on my two legged HiHat (bought 2021 / DW 9500TBXF Hi-Hat Stand -2 Legs)! I tried to unscrew the upper level as showed in the video with a rubber hammer: no success, it seemed to be completely glued with absolutely no chance to loosen it. (I hit it like hell, believe me!) I also tried to unscrew the lower section (black) to the tube... no chance... also glued as hell! To my mind this has to be enabled in this price section hardware and quality-level! I really appreciate this video, but there seems to be a different in DIY with hihat stands of dw!? What i did: I simply removed the rubberfeet of the two-legged-hihat and was able to fold the legs closer to the main-tube. The effect is almost the same as removing the whole legs! Works great for me so far, but removing the legs as shown in the video would be awesome!

That's crazy to hear and I'm sorry it didn't work for you as I've removed the legs from three different stands the same way. I'm perplexed honestly! But mine are older than yours and maybe being newer they have changed their process and now glue them!?! I'm not sure but truly thanks for letting me know. I'm going to try another stand just for kicks now.

@@ZackZweifel Hi Zack, thanks for your quick response! Best wishes from germany! To my mind there should be a way given by DW 😀 Your solution is awesome, i thought that is the way dw wants us to remove the legs haha ;-)

@@stephan-by8lt I had the same problem, so I sprayed a little WD40 on the bottom part of the thing you hit with the mallet, and let it sit for a minutes. Popped right off

Can the third leg on three leg stand be removed to make it a two leg?
@ZackZweifel
@ZackZweifel Год назад
Yes you can. If you drill out the rivets you can remove one leg and then rotate the other two for support. I did that on my Yamaha and it's the same setup on the DW.

Thanks for posting. I am trying to remove a hi hat seat from a DW 5000. Does that come off like you demonstrated in this video for the piece above the legs. (Mallet and a screw? In the seat i see a deep hole, does that have a screw or an Allen wrench that needs to be removed. Also, Will heating or freezing the piece help free up the seat?
@ZackZweifel
@ZackZweifel Год назад
I also have a 5000... let me go look at it quick and tell ya shortly!
@ZackZweifel
@ZackZweifel Год назад
Just looked at my 5000 and it looks to be the EXACT same as my 9000s... So a small allen head and that's it. If you are having troubles removing and it's because of any adhesive they used, some heat will help loosen that adhesive up for sure. I wouldn't freeze anything.

@@ZackZweifel I got it off, thanks to you. Went smoothly. My standing is missing those 2 screws on the base that are higher. It looks like they are nut and bolt as opposed to the lower two, which just love in without a nut. Appreciate your help

Does this method works for all dw stands? I have a flat base and i want to remove all the legs to convert it into a no leg stand.

I would have to assume so but I've never played the flat base. I've done this with a 5000 and a 9000.

Would it be the same way for a Pearl Eliminator hi hat stand?
@ZackZweifel
@ZackZweifel 6 месяцев назад
That is a great question I unfortunately don't know the answer too.. but it did work the same on a Yamaha stand also... so with that said I'm sure they are all built fairly the same and so possibly!

Hoping you can help me here. I have the Pearl hi hat attachment. It hooks the hi hat to the bass drum. The hi hat legs are getting in the way. Would leaving the legs off hurt anything. I wouldn't think so but I'm a newbie.
