In this video I review the DW 5000 Hi-Hat Stand. This thing is awesome. I got this stand on September 20, 2012, so this video pertains to whatever DW had out at that time!

The bolt that you twisted on your cymbal seat...is designed for your bottom hat to sit slightly off kilter...this stops the air pocket effect which happens when your hats are sitting dead straight...you probably know this...but for anyone who doesn't...there you go 👊🏻😷👌🏻

I have a 5000 from late 90's. these are bullet proof, many practice sessions and over 500 hours live and recording sessions. Awesome hi-hat stand.

hey Chris, yes they do swivel to accommodate a double bass drum pedal. If you wanted even more room you could get the 2 leg model that is made specifically with double bass pedals in mind.

Philip, thanks for making this video, especially since I've been looking at some DW hardware for my church kit. Tell me, though, do the legs on the hi hat stand swivel to accommodate a double bass drum pedal? Thanks!

The steel is heavy duty, but I have had more trouble with this hi-hat than any I have ever owned; and I have owned a bunch. Parts fall off, screws, the guts on the inside of the tube. Maybe I got a rare lemon, but I don't trust it for gigging.. If I use it, I bring another back-up hi-hat because I worry it may not hold up. I've had an old TAMA hi-hat that has been going for over 30 years and not the first problem. I've owned Pearl, Slingerland, Camco and other off brands. My DW has had more problems than all my other hi-hats combined. I called the company about a screw that fell off and they sent me a new one at no charge. I e-mailed them about other parts when they fell of and never heard from them. I might have to actually talk to someone.

I have the DW 5000 TD3, which is the more beefy version of this. Anyone looking for an amazing hat stand, look no further. It is a bit pricey, I think paid around $230, but it's so heavy duty. Every component feels super high quality and there are many adjustments available on the stand. Basically, you can't go wrong with any DW product and the commenter below must've gotten a lemon product, or he throws it off cliffs for fun!

It's a horrible, its about $200, I still have the tag on it & it already makes horrible sounds I heard that sound in my recording, bad, oiling didn't help, but maybe its because I play doublebass grooves with my hihat
