removing SCRATCHES from your glasses using toothpaste

If you’ve got SMALL scratches on your glasses, toothpaste has a very fine abrasive can remove the scratches and make your glasses shine. This only works on small scratches, however, it is possible to remove larger scratches but it is a lot more work. I’ve used 1200 grit sandpaper to remove the big scratches and then use the toothpaste to make it shine again. A little bit of automotive wax can also help fill in some of those scratches. Sure is nice when you can see again! Hope you enjoy the video.

You need to use non-abrasive toothpaste and you apply (and remove it) with a side-to-side motion, not rubbing it in circles! That's the trick and the info is missing in this video. Also, you don't use a toothbrush, that's asking for scratches, use a microfiber cloth.
@MiBurnout

If you've really polished anything, side to side is only one direction you need to polish any surface.. polishing must be done up and down, left to right, and diagonally in both directions. Any one direction will just scratch more without polishing.

@unclefester9265
@unclefester9265 2 года назад
To avoid scratches in the first place, you just wash your lenses with water (if they were dusty), but not hot water, because it can damage the coating on lenses, more coldish/warm water, and do not wipe them after, just blow air on those several drops that are on the lenses...the result, no smear, whatever. If you have oil on lenses or they are dirty, not just dusty, then use soap, and the rest is the same; just let the drops go away or blow them away; the result is crispy lenses with no scratches. Do not use any wipes, cleaners, cloths for wiping the glasses; it only leaves scratches and smears on lenses. Ofc, AVOID this toothpaste method; I've tried it on my old glasses, it doesn't remove anything, just creates more tiny scratches!
@Megalomaniakaal
@Megalomaniakaal Год назад
The whole point of polish(that's what toothpaste is too) is to scratch. It's an abrasive. Polishing removes matter. This is not to say I recommend polishing eye glasses, it's going to negatively affect the lens geometry, thus the focus. But creating more scratches happens precisely because the abrasives in the paste removes something.

I have a slightly scratched watch (Casio A168wg-9ef) can I use this method on the glass?
@livefree6878
@livefree6878 4 года назад
Toothpaste is pretty safe for polishing just about anything, I always like to try it on something similar that is less of a risk, I feel like it would be no problem, If the watch is really valuable, try it on the less desirable watch first see how it works and then move up to that. I’m not familiar with the serial number or what the material is. Some of the watches are glass, some of them are plastic. If you were my watch, I wouldn’t have a problem trying it, but of course it’s not my watch. I hope this answer helps.

actually if you use some Sensodyne whitening sensitivity toothpaste isn't that gooey like Colgate.. The Sensodyne whitening sensitivity worked quite well but don't use any Colgate or anything all that cheap toothpaste is real tough and if it smears on there like its real gooey that doesn't do anything but can mess with your glasses lenses and you gotta clean it try to clean it off to see through it and idk it could even mess it up even if you smear it on with your finger cause it can bug you and don't even brush it with a brush that's how you could ruin them.

When I used the toothpaste, I didn’t see any change in the prescription or the power of the glass. There are times I’ve gone a lot more aggressive than toothpaste. If the scratches are too deep or use Polish grade sandpaper and then buff on a high-speed wheel. This however does change the power of the glass slightly. Not enough that it has bothered me, but the toothpaste is so light and it’s abrasion that I haven’t seen any change in the power of the prescription. Hope this helps
