Ren met Sam when Sam was busking on the street with nothing but his voice and a hat for tips. Ren was on his way home from his own busking session and stopped to listen. He then offered to set up his kit and accompany Sam. The rest is history. In this video you watch here these people likely do not know they are witnessing history. Roll forward to 2024, Ren has a No1 album on the UK charts, and Sam recently opened for and played with Justin Bieber and is currently touring Europe with his own concert. Ren's newer tracks are so 🔥🔥 and doing really well. Back on 74 /Message in a Bottle and Nas Halftime Retake are just a couple. Ren has a new original track coming out next Thursday, called Troubles (Inspired by the 1937 song Trouble So Hard by Vera Hall) t's is a big one for him. The 1st time they went busking together, the police were blocking the road, and as they saw the police, they thought they'd come to stop them, as there were loads of people. But the police had actually turned up to block the road from traffic, so they could play 😊 ❤ from Northeast England ❤️

If you're going to talk pause it. You miss so much otherwise. Always rewind a little, after pausing too. That way you ensure that you don't miss anything. Ren's vocals, immediately after his big introductory note, were absolutely beautiful and you completely missed it!
Sam's ok but he's a bit of a one trick pony for me. He does that one trick reasonably well but that's all he does, over and over and over again... He has no understanding of vocal light and shade. He's also frequently flat or off-key. Those moments when he gets it right, it's good but I find myself quickly becoming bored with it. Ren's on another level entirely! ...And we're just talking vocals here. Add in the seemingly endless list of Ren's other incredible talents and it's not even a contest! You'll find a Sam, or two, on every tv talent show going. You won't find a Ren there! Ren's a unique artist! A musical genius! A once in a generation talent. :) Btw, Ren would tend to post on social media just a couple of hours before turning up. He also wasn't well known back then, although he had a following in Brighton, where this performance took place. Most of these people just heard the music and stopped to watch/listen! :)
Soon these old busking videos of Ren busking in England will be all that we have left to watch because Ren is moving. So there won't be any UK Busking for Ren for the foreseeable future. Reb did an interview with Knox Hill the other day and said in July he'll finish his treatment up in Canada. Then he said he will head home to England for about a month to play a couple of shows, hang out with family and friends, then get his affairs on order because he's moving to The States! He wants to move to the New England area so he's thinking Connecticut, New Jersey or New York City because of all the musical opportunities here AND he wants to be close to an airport so just in case he needs any medical treatment because of his illness Calgary where his doctors are will be only a two hour flight away. He was here in New York a few weeks ago visiting family and friends. He also went to New Jersey and Connecticut. Im going up try to sell him on where I live, Long Island!
Northern states of the US and within a 2 hour flight of his Calgary, Canada medical treatment center. He will be going back to treatment off and on for the foreseeable future. He also wants to be a close plane flight to LA, California. He is working on some Netflix pilot programs and has a producer friend there, he likely wants to use equipment etc to finish his album as was as busk in Venice Beach. So that will likely be Washington or Oregon. This was mentioned in his latest interview with Knox Hill. Ren can change his mind just as fast, so you never know.
I love this performance….right up to the later part of Ren’s guitar playing where he goes “experimental” playing with discord and harmonics. He’s good enough to make it work…but it always looses me a bit in that last 30 seconds. I know many people still like that bit and I don’t hate it, it’s just not the same soaring excellence in my book.
