Renault Megane RS Trophy review

Found your channel while doing my regular search for Megane RS reviews (I drive the 250hp-version myself...). Having watched several of your reviews now, I have to say I like your approach a lot. You take the perspective of someone who might actually be interested in bying a car like the one you just drive and then give an honest opinion from that point of view. Having said that, I absolutely share everything you said about the Megane RS. After one year of driving it I still enjoy every minute.

I've been watching this review over and over again. Just loving this car...wish one day I can get one for myself...

Great review simple but effective not like other i've seen

I'd buy the RS because it lights up the road without making a fuss, it also has usable back seats and a real boot. Should you want to go down to the local race track and beat everyone you'll do that too. The GT86 is brilliant but for a whole different set of reasons

Amazing review mate.....just brilliant....a review with a passion for an amazing car....in a Dublin accent I believe. I ordered a 265 CUP in black and this review really really helped me make my mind up. I'm just worried about comfort in the cup for daily use but I'm sure i'll get used to it as I always have my Scirocco's ADC on sport anyway. Renault should give you a commission lol. Thanks again mate.

Great review...very entertaining and presented with true Irish passion. In Australia this catorgory of performance car is usually dominated by the Japanese cars such as the Subaru WRX ,Sti, and Mitsubishi Ralliart and EVO. Ford is now making some in roads with the ST and VW golf Gti and R have dominated the European hot hatches with the Audi A3 and BMW 135i not too far behind. All in my mind great cars in their own right. I have just recently bought a demo Megane cup 265 and waiting fr it to be shipped up from Sydney. I am hoping i will be half as excited as this reviewer is when i am finally behind the wheel driving a back road on the Sunshine coast in Queensland. Will give an honest review on the car once I get it. Cheers

@Smokerspack I can confirm that the 2012 stock version will have all the Trophy Specs (265HP 360nM) + some minor interior/exterior changes (different LEDs, diff color head light casing). According to Renault, also engine sound has been improved. Only difference with Trophy is that it comes with 18" wheels instead of 19",which has the delicious Bridgestone Potenzas, so its worth upgrading. You can get the 19" Trophy wheels (with red striping and Potenzas) for a few bucks more. Ordered mine today.

I had a megane coupe 1.6 back in 2003,love the car from day one,but the car had many electrical problems and build quality!but even so with the problems it had and Jeremy Clarkson saying 'dont buy a french car it will break down after 5 miles'I still loved my megane and am torn between a Golf R or Megane 265 sport?

Maybe I'm too used to low profile tyres, because when I tried one out, the ride isn't that bad considering what it can achieve in terms of handling. Amazing really...

Amazing fwd car this one,the best i would say.

They had one of these at A unnamed shopping in Basingstoke, the guy told me they made 50 & 49 of these were in yellow only 1 was order in black the owner of the black is one of kind

That's a tough choice, if I was to go by the Drivers feeling its the Megane all the way. It's just a mad car but it's got a decent boot and real back seats so driving to the shops can be easy or an adventure!

discs aren't grooved for repelling water, they are grooved or drilled, some cases both, offering better ventilation for improved heat dissipation. good review though lol

I'm afraid I only really do new car reviews, there's no really way of getting used cars for test because of insurance and other stuff.

By now all the "Extra"-Specs the Trophy had (with the exception of the stickers ;) ) got included in the Standard 2012 Megane RS... So you can actually buy unlimited numbers...

How reliable is this car?

Renault still build the bare bones of the car but the Sport division do everything else to the car, they are in a different league

Good review,but you must try an Integra type R dc2. Its alot cheaper beening alot older, and also an excellent front wheel drive car with a L.S.D and 9000 rpm.

No big deal that there's no more Trophy versions. Get the normal RS which is, more comfortable, just as fast and cheaper, and better equipped with luxury equipment that is stripped out of the Trophy. Also, the normal RS doesn't produce 250hp as it says on paper, it actually measures at 275hp on Dyno. Its one of few cars that produces more power than manufacturer claims. It was measured by many magazines, including EVO.

It very much depends what you want out of a car. If you want your neighbors to like your car and be jealous. Buy the Audi. You won't be disappointed. It's a good car. It's fast, it's well balanced and build-quality is above every criticism. With the RS only a very special kind of people will admire you for your choice. The kind that likes cars that perform and visit race tracks. The RS challenges you to have fast fun with it ;) If you like that, buy the RS. I didn't regret my decision for 1s.

Cars cost ridiculous amounts of money in Singapore because there is a huge tax on cars. I think even a Honda Jazz is like $90, 000 or something like that.

So go buy it!

Four adults in the Megane RS without problems? Not with the Recaros at least. Maybe if two of them don't have feet. For shorter trips, yes, it works, but it's not comfy. Taking your shoes off is a requirement. :) (Yup, I own one. And I did actually spend a couple of hours in the back seat of it after a track day when I was too tired to drive home myself.)

i have simple renault megane 1.6, its falling apart -.- that car is bunch of problems, shouldnt have bought it, but i think renault sports are different from simple renault, i must give it a chance...

i like my trophy :)
