Renault Scenic (EV) - Probably The Best Family EV There Is! 

I'm loving that P button, personalising your dripping for alarms and warnings. Having driven a Kia EV9 it is a great car but my oh my doors it ding at you! 1km over the speed limit, look to the side door a second, dare go near a white line and you will be pestered by multi-time bells. Many can be turned off *deep* in the Settings menus, but it is a true ... annoyance. All cars should get a P button! Thanks for the review.

You two just chatting is pleasant to 'eaves-drop' on. Be it in a car, a bus, on a train, a tandem-bicycle or even during a walk.

Here in Austria these are the prices without incentices which i do not get anymore. Renault Scenic E-Tech 53.920,-- Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD 500+ HP best software, best safety, White/White 51.770,-- Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD White/White 48.770,--

This rooster drawn at the base of the windshield means that this car is made in France. And of course the rooster in a symbol of France : >.

This gets more real world miles than Y long range- and is about £200 a month less to lease and half the insurance price. No point comparing it to a RWD Y which gets about 80 miles less real world. The tech on this is actually better than Tesla (6 year Tesla owner) with not only Google producing the software but you can also run CarPlay Wireless on its own tab. 435 a month to lease with 3 payments down, 10,000 miles a year- a winner. Battery is 92 kWh, 87 kWh useable.

Heat pump as standard and 22kw AC as standard, which is a lifesaver when your in the north of Scotland or more remote areas with street chargers which are also really common in Europe. Just some more reasons to consider the scenic for the price it's great value, drives wonderfully, very quiet and android automotive with Google maps is excellent. Renault are smashing it just now in design, features and price

Another interesting family EV with some nice tricks up it’s roof! Great analogy of it being a Christmas dinner as it seems to tick a lot of boxes. However. Efficiency could be better.

You guys are correct, and i had almost forgotten it as sn option. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is actually more practical. 👍

Had a look at one of these at a dealer last week as was right next door to them shopping. Their demo was in the grey/silver colour which I thought made it look very dull from the outside - think these need a bright colour. Nice interior and roomy but the thing that put me off was the boot - odd shaped to me and too narrow with a huge load lip. As we have 2 big dogs would much prefer a wide flat space, more like an estate. Nice car and may test drive one when I change company cars next spring, but a Model Y looks more practical for the family.

It's so similar to my Nissan Ariya. You can see the alliance between the 2 companies coming into play. The Ariya seems more premium but I love the Scenic. Nissan is missing autolock after 7mph and does not have a mute button on the steering wheel 😢

Must admit I had this on a list with the Ioniq5 and Model Y. Model Y won for me and was a bit more spacious in the back for what we need. However, some massive leaps forward for Renault and nice touches that show they are in tune with what people want from a car.

Interesting and enjoyable video as normal, however, is it possible to boost your audio as even with the volume on maximum on my phone, and the phone stood in a container to boost it more, I can barely hear a word you are saying if there is any background noise at my end.

Get the larger battery version before April next year. The price difference between the 2 battery options will next year ( From April 2025 ), push the larger version into the "luxury" car tax bracket. Starts to look less of a good deal at that point, when you have to pay an extra £410 per year.

Nearly got one of these. The shape of the boot stopped us - tall and deep boot but very narrow. Great car for someone that doesn’t transport golf clubs a lot! Went VW ID7 tourer instead…!

Where's the Grand Scenic EV?!!

For me, this looks better than the Megane and probably the Niro and the Cupra. And hasn’t got that Krypton second head look of the Ioniq 5. But just the ability to easily turn off all the annoying bits at will, without trawling through multiple menu, that usually a winner in itself.

I have a similar sized remote for the Zoe. Since i have seen the exploding pagers i'm sort of going off keeping battery powered items in a pocket near my goolies 😮

Kia's 7 year warranty wins it every time for me, and it's about time every manufacturer did the same for their EVs.

Your price comparisons. I got an id7 tourer for less than these cost on a lease deal.

So you compared it to a ID3 but not a Model Y. Seriously? It’s probably been designed to compete with the Y. Same class. Them rear seats look awesome. But the boot is smaller than the Y. Very interesting car. Looks classy in person for sure

I've noticed several recent car designs with "square" rear lower corners, and I don't particularly like it as a design feature...

I wonder how long before someone is charged in a fatal crash if they have turned off all the safety features

Here in Norway the big battery version with some options is same price as model y lr with awd so its a tough sell.

No frunk is a pain. And no V2L. But otherwise it is brilliant.

The underpinnings of the car is the same as the Nissan Ariya had one as a courtesy car when you look under the bonnet its the same as My Ariya

Do you count Tesla Y as a family car? Even standard range is same sort of price range and RL range?

The Tesla Model Y is the best family car, the Scenic is a close 2nd! For me anyway, but the Model Y is the best selling vehicle so...what does that tell you.😅

With the panoramic roof, what's the sun's heat like on your head? A question for those of us without any thatch on top. Will the Megane get this software any time??

The only obvious gripe I might consider is the fixed central rear headrest. It might be that there's a good reason for it and I don't know if the camera angle helped or hindered, but I prefer less obstruction to the rear view. I haven't trained my brain to be able to use the digital image if it's in the same place as the traditional mirror. My 'auto focus' gets in the way. I guess I'll have to evolve.

Enyaq is RWD so no torque steer and better traction/less likely to light up the driving wheels.

The thing that i did love about the Scenic is that all of the annoying nags can be switched off in a "personal setting".

Still vastly prefer my Enyaq 80, but I have to admit there are some features in this that make me turn my head a little. Drivers display, quick deactivation of 'assistance' measures & that opaque pan roof are good touches & the displays look superior, but smaller boot, seemingly lower efficiency and the general look of the interior are a miss for me.

The boot length is drawback as a family car.

Unfortunatly, with the list price being too close to the £40k Luxury Car Cliff Edge the more practical larger battery model will be Taxed for 5 years as a Luxury Car

The only thing that electric should be is propulsion NOT DOOR HANDLES which is just a gimmick 😡 but maybe before anything else the manufacturers should find out why some of their cars CATCH FIRE !!!!!! I dont won't to become a wicker man 😂😂😂😂😂

Hideous interior. Too many buttons. Screens jammed together. The ariya version looks classier. The European are struggling with their car designs ... Same old......

Tesla Model Y? Starts at £44,990!

I was looking forward to driving the Scenic EV as it appeared to be the right range at the right price. However, when I borrowed one for a day the wife immediately rejected it.... She correctly said that the distance between the wheel arches in the boot is too narrow! Not at all big enough for the IKEA run! And I believe her to be correct. Also there is no false floor panel in the boot. So with the rear seats folded down, there is a massive step up from the boot to the seats. Not good enough. It if presents itself as the ultimate family car. Then everything needs to be thought of.

So apparent you are a Tesla driver! Took a model Y out before I bought this having been in a few Model Ys in the states. The Scenic is SO much better. More intuitive, better detail and more space. And how you got such rubbish mileage! I get 350m round town and country and about 320 on motorway. You must have a lead foot! Tesla are losing ground and others are catching up. The self drive on the Scenic is every bit as good as the Tesla. Bit of a non factual review I thought.

Why would anyone buy an EV? A massive fire risk, insane depreciation. Public charging issues. When you can bu an iCE vehicle that just works.
