The ren faire I used to go to was amazing. Ours had jousting, and I, being the absolute nerd I was, brought my rescue horse I was working with to one and signed us up for it. The horse got adjusted after a while and it really helped socialize them to better people than they were used to. Had people come dressed up in Star Trek Uniforms, and pretty much everyone bounced off the "wait what're you doing? You need to be under cover! Otherwise you might blow ours!"
@@XavierMischief There's a jack sparrow cosplayer who does it too. saw a vid of him the other day. though I can't remember if the Crocs were pink or not
@@Nol. I was actually JUST trying to find where I posted this comment because I saw a video of the same guy at a Ren faire with the same people on their second day wearing pink Crocs, and a Deadpool costume underneath a medieval soldier costume. Thanks for saving me from scrolling too far 😂
@mar-ui2sr because ren faire is walking all day on dirt and gass, so most people's shoes are for comfort, not for costume, so we just pretend our shoes match
Unless of course you're just there to see what it's all about and dare to go in every-day clothes. The only one I've ever been to, I went with my boyfriend. We wore T-shirts, shorts, and sneakers. We're walking around holding hands, just looking at stuff, and someone comes up to us, goes, "Ew, straight people. What are you wearing?!" and walks away.
My go-to shoes for medieval markets are 'Bundschuhe', leather sandals which are appropriate for the Stone Age admittedly, but also work if you are not a historical reenactor or something. They're sooo comfy because you can change their size. This way they always fit, even with three layers of socks or barefoot.
I absolutely adore a Ren-Faire ❤ Wish I was crafty enough to make my own costumes or accessories, but I also like supporting the pro crafters who have stalls!
I have always wanted to go, but I have neuropathy in my feet. And because of my auto immune diseases, my feet swell so much and Crocs are one of the only shoes I can wear that allow my feet room to swell and air to flow so I don't get infections from my skin being to wet for to long, because having bad circulation and stuff losing toes to infection is super easy. But I've been to embarrassed to try to wear Crocs because I don't want to be judged. And for some reason this made me feel so comforted. Thank you. Thank you for making me feel included even with my disabilities.
I love going to ren faires and a fair margin of people end up not even dressing up, you'd be completely fine wearing crocs! Last time I went I brought a gnarled wooden cane to lean on, helped immensely and since I have mobility issues with my knees at times it was a life saver. Nobody was weird about the cane at all, and someone I went with has fibromyalgia so they wore comfortable shoes and nobody was weird about that either. People will understand! If you have a beige or darker pair that could blend in with ren fair colors on your outfit people may not even notice. Ren faires are for everybody, I hope you go and have a great time. If you can find a cool walking stick if you need to lean on something nobody questions it either.
At my local faire, anything goes. I dress as a fairy, we have a Captain Jack Sparrow (which is 100s of years in the future), & people dress anything from goth, normal clothes, Medieval, Renaissance, Viking, pure fantasy, and all kinds of in between. Foot wear is one of the most common “anachronisms”, I’ve seen decent knight outfits worn with Walmart sneakers every year (over a decade now of going), & I wear modern boots because I need ankle support. Dress however you’re comfortable, & you’ll probably get compliments no matter what you’re wearing.
I've been going to the Ren Faire since I was a little kid, and let me tell you, no one cares what you're wearing! However, the one near me has a costume tent outside the gate, if you want to rent a costume for the day. You can also buy really cool pieces once inside. My oldest daughter has always dressed as a fairy, and over the years, I've gotten her some really interesting pieces to add to the look. My son has always gone as a pirate, and when he was 7, his Bumble Bee Transformer shoes were a big hit! Oh, and my husband usually wears a kilt, while I go for more of a gypsy look. Some people wear hardly anything, and there's always a bunch of normies who just go to enjoy the food and festivities. Seriously, no one is going to judge you for your outfit ❤ the Ren Faire is for everyone.
As a PATRON, you can wear WHATEVER YOU WANT! So long as nudity laws are covered. As a person working the faire, there's gonna be dress code but not for anyone attending. Go however you want. But make sure you GO
This is why I have two pairs of hooves for my first ren faire visit (The day I'm going has a mythical animals theme). My fancy hooves are not comfortable, so I have a second pair that goes over my tennis shoes for comfortable walking
Crocs are great but if they’re the only shoe you’re comfortable in you might wanna consider going to a pediatrist because you probably have arch imbalances that need to be correct with inserts. Wonky feet can cause a lot of health issues, even heart problems, so don’t just ignore pain if you’re feeling it.
Points to you for making the crocs look forestry and fairy cute but I can't understand how anyone finds those things comfortable to roam around in. I thought I was crippled for life after wearing crocs for a few hours. Maybe it's just me. Anyways I hope your day was as fun as you were cute.😊
And this is why when I do Ren Faires again. My ass is getting custom made boots! I had a pair as a child for my Ren faire costume, and while they only lasted a few months, those were the most comfortable boots I have ever owned.
First off, I've been going to the same Ren faire for like, 15 years. The variety of costumes is insane. Historically accurate, pirates, samurai, wizards, trekkies. You wanna go full immersion? Do it. You want to wear jeans and a corset? That's cool too. You can wear the crocs out in the open or hide them. I've worn my converse under long skirts. You could make boot covers to go over the crocs. Your fix was super adorable though.
It’d be really cool if you made extras to give to people who compliment them/like them or if they have crocs. Like you could offer them a jibbit from a bag or something. Idk 🤷🏻♀️ you probably won’t even ever see this.
With all due respect if you’re not gonna be comfortable it’s not worth it. If you have to sacrifice your comfort than that’s terrible. I’m so glad the ren faire is chill. You deserve to enjoy it
I legit feel like ren faire is just medieval or fairy cosplay. So wear whatever you can be comfortable in and save the fun or fancy shoes for photos if you want
Honestly it’s creative people like yourself that make those events more fun. Or else I wouldn’t go. I took My daughter in Dec and she had the best time just talking with people.
