I’ve got the same type of scarifier as you Matt not used the solid blade attachment as I thought it would be to brutal and do more damage to the lawn.You’re idea is to penetrate the soil deeper for the seed to have a better chance of germination,makes sense. This Autumn I will give it a go and see how it goes.Thanks for the video.

Excellent video Matt, thank you very much! Can I ask, is the compost you put on lawn dressing, or potting type compost or is it a specialised lawn compost? Also, is there an alternative method to spread the compost? I do have one of the weed/feed lawn spreaders. I think getting a compost spreader would cause a bit of tension at home, especially after buying the swardman hollow tine aerator, recently😀

Hi Matt, I've done lots of garden work but looking at getting into the renovation side of things, can you tell me how you charge for that type of job, Is it a set price, Or is it materials + labour, and what would be a reasonable hourly rate, thanks @gardeningonabudget
@GardenLawncareGuy
@GardenLawncareGuy 2 года назад
Hi bud, I don't tend to do alot of client work mainly friends, family and reccomendation plus I take into account the merit of taking videos etc so I'm probably not best place to compare against. Though as a starting point, write down your annual overheads, bills, insurances, maintenance as fixed costs and divide them by how many weeks you plan to work, then work out a typical renovation cost of materials say 100m2 will give you an idea of your costs

WHen you're repairing a lawn, do you not follow the 1/3rd rule the first time?
@usables4028
@usables4028 2 года назад
I was thinking the same. I just bought my first lawnmower and in manual it says that first cut should be by the 1/3 rule.

For this lawn actually yes I did

@@GardenLawncareGuy I saw a video by the owner of allett experimenting using peat free compost and just soil for seeding and the compost test produced amazing results compared to just top soil. Love the videos, keep them coming. Overseeding reno on my own lawn starting soon, I'll try the compost.

Great video. Defo needs the follow up. Struggling with my lawn now, it's going really yellow in patches and getting deaf patches from all the ant's nests I keep getting. A few months ago it was nice and green and now it doesn't look good at all.

Yes Glen- use this lower N high iron for colour. It's what I use and can guarantee your results will be great gardenlawncareguy.com/shop/fertiliser/granular-fertiliser/glg-autumn-dark-green-fertiliser-10kg/

Note you don't need a a landsie to do the top dressing they cost a bomb and most don't need them. If you don't have a scarification machine use a garden rake.
@stevebabiak6997
@stevebabiak6997 2 года назад
Sure, you can use a rake. But from my experience using both a rake and a machine, the machine wins hands down. Faster AND better at getting the crap loosened and removed. And if your grass area is large enough, using the rake makes little sense if you want the job finished before you get worn out.

Quick question - what can I use instead of the Landsie? Any alternatives?
@jamescharlton924
@jamescharlton924 2 года назад
@@rawdah786 personally I use a good old fashioned shovel make piles of top soil and on shovel level amount of the soil and as if your doing a sweeping cricket shot spread the soil
@stevebabiak6997
@stevebabiak6997 2 года назад
@@rawdah786 - I just dump a bit of the top dressing and rake it level. The Landsie will filter some of the bigger chunks, so you get to pick those out yourself if raking.
