finally got to replacing my rx100ii s flex cable. this is a massive help, thank you so much. it didn't work at first cause I didn't seat the lcd cable correctly on the new flex cable, had to disassemble everything again afterwards, but it finally worked at the end

Hi, great channel. I have an RX100 M2, and the pop-up flash suddenly will not stay down. I took it apart and figured out what I believe to be a little solenoid that links to a control arm to the flash latch. I was able to temporarily fix, but after putting it all back together, it failed again. Do you have any insight into this issue? Also, I couldn't figure out how to disassemble the upper left portion of the camera in case I need to remove/repair some parts in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me. The M2 doesn't have a popup viewfinder, it has the popup flash in that location. In my first attempt to take it apart, I couldn't figure out how to remove the flash assembly from the camera frame. Your tip that something was likely misaligned was what I needed to try again. Tore down the whole camera this time; basically, if I saw a screw, I unscrewed it! Figured out how to remove the flash assembly. With that removed, I could tell there is a small solenoid in there that actuates a lever arm that moves the tiny plastic flash latch. The side of the lever that connects to the solenoid had become dislodged from a retaining groove. Though I suffered several uncomfortable shocks from the flash capacitors, I'm happy to report it is fixed! All I can say from this experience is it was a terrible design choice for Sony to utilize a solenoid to push a lever to popup the flash! Thankfully, in subsequent models, it seems they have moved to a strictly mechanical release mechanism! Any idea which cable controls the top panel? Tried to clean the sensor on my RX100 M2 and now I get an error code e:95:01 and I can only power it on from the 'review photo' button on the back of the camera. My guess is that something is off in the connection of the top panel, maybe
if i remember its under the first motherboards you see, on the main motherboard. you have to remove the first motherboards to get to the main board. then you should see a cable coming from the top going into the main board.
I just fixed the screen of my Mark 4 with the help of this video :) It gave me the confidence to open it up and try it myself. Turns out the problem was a cable that slipped out. Easy peasy! Thanks so much again! :)
