Thanks for video. This helped me replace my friends camera's LCD. I was able to remove the lcd from the frame with a hair drier and a bamboo skewer. I salvaged the existing adhesive by ensuring it remained on the frame side using the bamboo skewer to separate it from the lcd by gently prying and rotating the skewer to roll the adhesive onto the frame while separating the lcd and frame. I had problems with the ribbon cable connection when I put it back together. But I was successful after several attempts. I had to keep the two parts separate and slid the new panel closer to the slot to give the ribbon cable more slack and used tweezers to push the ribbon into the clip. Thanks agin
Great video -- just wanted to say that there's a protective plastic cover on the LCD which can be replaced without dismantling the screen. (if the issue is scratches on the screen)
Thanks a lot...for a few euros and your help, my screen is now as new. Just a hint: it is very difficult to detach and attach the lcd cable. But if you bend the metal plate, it is much more easier. You can bend it back after attaching the cable and it is not a problem, because you can then fix the metal plate again with the 3 screws. Will spend you a few euros on paypal. Thanks again.
This is the LCD with backlight. If the cameras on but does not show an image on LCD get a bright light and shine on the LCD and see if you can see the image. make sure you play an image that has good contrast you can see it better.
i just dropped sony rx100II to floor and screen just popped out with electric wire tape loosen and i snapped it backinto the grip but screen not working, i just watch your vidoe , i am impressed how you do the video for repair but i could not do it myself, could you fix it for a fee for me? i don't know how to order screen and how to fix it in detail, is there a way you can fix it and i can pay you a fee ?

+Otherstuff Nice work on this! Great attention to detail and willingness to dig into the thing! I have a bad screen on my M3 unit. Do you replace them for others? Or, know anyone that does? Google searches don't seem to lead to good repair options.
Thank you very much for your video, I was just able to repair an RX100 M3 which had a smashed display. But I ended up with two tiny pieces of magnetic steel which I don't know where they go.. one is about 2 by 7mm with a tiny hook on one end, the other is rectangular 3 by 8 mm... any idea?
+Philipp salzgeber i think they go in display case. i did another video like this one for the M2 that i took more of it apart and also did the M3 but never had anything like that fall out. they might be to hold it firm to the body when the display is closed. I'm in the process of replacing the screen and have lost the little auto light sensor - does it matter - will it just mean that auto light adjustment not work??? Thanks for a great video
@@sebastianurrea5947 I dont know what it would be called but or if you find a replacement, i do have one but i think it's from a newer rx100 model. its set in the lower corner of screen frame but the plastic piece might be the same part.

@@sebastianurrea5947 is the backlight working? can you see a image if you shine a bright flashlight on lcd screen? maybe the backlight cable is not plugged in good.

+Otherstuff - I not only need to replace my LCD but also the flex cable that runs between the panel assembly and the camera body. Can you provide any insight on which screws to loose for proper disassembly? I can't find a service manual anywhere online and I hate cracking open delicate electronics without a guide... +Grant Burke you have to take the whole back panel off. all the screws you see , top bottom, sides. i just did a m3 and that video shows the back panel off, it might give you an idea.

+Arnette RTW yes.. this is why i made this video to help people replace their LCD. If you can get the LCD off saving the sticky tape thats on the frame try to do it that way
