Don't forget your Cub is Z Foam and regular CA compatible. Page 23 in the manual. The earlier mentioned lightweight spackle to smoothe and Testors model paint to finish and after a couple crashes mine still looks almost new. Good luck, happy flying!
The stock transmitter connects to the flaps using the 3-position switch above and a tad left of the throttle/rudder stick. To find the right channel I just plugged it in and urned on the radio. Mine worked on the last channel. Glad I did not have to purchase a fancier radio! Nice repair!
Awesome. After twenty two flights and many runway hops mine was in perfect conditions. I knew the wind was swirling but I just didn’t heed the warning signs. Kept trying one more runway hop and lost control. Cross wind flipped me and resulted in broken tail wheel, rudder control clevis, and worse a fractured rear tail to fuselage junction. Repaired everything with glue and small over patches of gorilla 🦍 silver tape. Made me sad to see her on the runway like that and it hurts pride. But it’s good to know I’m not the only one with crash damage. Haven’t flown since but I think she should be good to go. I like to fly in low wind conditions but I broke my rule with to much feeling invulnerable but it brought me back to reality. Thanks for the great video and happy flying.😊
Looks like most of your vortex generator strips are on backwards. I'm temped to turn one set of my vgs around to see what kind of difference it makes. If the vgs are as effective as i think they are, it could be the reason why one wing would drop at slower non stall speeds.
Hey up buddy, I've got one of these thats been hot glued more than anything, quick tip for you, with any foam model. Put the wrinkled bits in boiled water! ;) it expands the foam back to its pre set state. Making gluing hard to see. ;) just a lil tip I got told. Happy flying mate 👍
The popsicle sticks may have went inside while putting the tail on. Not sure but may be worth a try if someone decided to hit the pole again . Lmao⚡️⚡️⚡️😁
I used 4-5 bbq shish kabob sticks (they're made from bamboo... I think??) to reunite my completely severed tail section to the main fuselage. I first mocked it all up dry with about 2½" - 3" of bbq skewer slid into the foam parallel to the fuselage on either side of the damaged area to basically create a butt joint that is now arguably much stronger than it ever was thanks to the addition of hot glue as well... slight overkill on the repair due to the guilt of my first crash of that caliber 😅😂 Good news is that I learned a lot more about my plane, and general repairs, etc through that experience lol
OutdoorMentor no, the hot water just expands the foam to it's original size/shape, don't let the water boil tho bc if it's too hot it will give the foam surface a popcorn like texture Wich is not bad it just doesn't look good
OutdoorMentor. Thin carbon fiber spars to reinforce the plane help a ton. I also use a hot air gun on a very low temp or a hair dryer held back a bit. After the wrinkles are out put a spar in each side and secure with a bit of glue. They will be inside the foam and lighter than the popsicle sticks, looks aside.
Had my first accident with my Carbon Cub S+. Went too wide on my landing approach and caught a low branch from a tree. It caught the plane like a soccer net and then it fell down to the ground. Broke off the tail section of the fuselage and stripped out the rudder servo. I used two thin 3 inch long steel rods as internal braces between the body and tail section. Stuck them through the foam and glued the tail back on with gorilla gel CA glue. A silver sharpie is a perfect color match but I'm having a hard time finding a color that matches the yellow. I wish I knew what color it was. I also discovered that the stock servos are weak cheap junk and I'll find better quality servos to replace them with. I also have a few chips in the leading edge of my main wings that I need to fill in and paint. After all of that it'll look like nothing ever happened. It's been a great problem free flyer so far. Really fun! It's gotten me back into the hobby. Now I want to buy more models. Lol
Nice video, thanks for the tips. One thing O have noticed is that you do not have a spektrum transmitter? Can you tell us why? Do you have a review on the transmitter you have? Thanks a bunch.
Hi! Thanks! I use the Flysky i6X radio. It's cheaper and works better for me than Spektrum. I talk about it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MBPElWhdbR4.html . Thanks for watching!
Great video. I have the same plane. Still learning and I already broke the tail off same exact same exact spot as yours broke. I bought $14 zap ca foam safe glue and it gelled up in the bottle after 1st use. I should switch to hot glue. Is there any certain glue stick to use? Thanks
@@greeneking77 It looks like the one above. Hot glue and cellotape. The tail is now re made in thin aluminium too. LOL. But she still fly's ! And this is why ru-vid.com32AXR5UXKDs
Crashed and burned (not really) mine a couple weeks ago. Want to blame it on the GPS, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, since this is my first plane and I have no clue what I'm doing. Anyhoo... got away from me, flew behind a tree, crash! It was in a pasture that I couldn't get to, so wrote the owner a letter, he called me the other morning, invited me over, and I found it in pieces at the back part of his land, next to his family cemetery. Hmm, good place for a plane crash? At any rate, nose is off, tail section is off, wings are torn up, at least one servo is stripped out. So, I've got my work cut out for me. It got rained on since it was outside for a week or so, hoping the electronics isn't shot. Battery is about 2.4v, so I think it's toast. Don't dare plug it in, as I don't want to burn my house down. Thanks for the tips, I've got Foam-Tac, so I'll be using that. Everything else, I'll likely do the same as you. Wish me luck!
Shit, sorry to hear that, were you able to repair it? I just bought one on sale yesterday. I bought the simulator as well so I hope that can help me not crash too much
Whoa that plane is torn up!! I just watched a different video with the same plane, the guy said it flew off on its own and the radio wouldn't respond at all!! I'm starting to see why this is an expensive Hobby lol
If you want this plane without the bull sh*t than buy the sport cub s2!!!!! It's cheaper, flys like a champ and it's tuff as shit! It's also slightly bigger
So the receiver has the controller built in as well? Is the ESC also built into the receiver? Total beginner so my questions may seem dumb but I just don't know these things yet.
I've been in many a tree. I've learned over time that 'don't fly near trees' can really minimize that problem...until the next time I need to learn it again.
Lol its an rc plane not like it'll cause any deaths if it breaks again, let him find out, some people don't have the time or money to redo the whole motor or fuselage or prop, let alone buy a new one, we just want to fly.
@@FrostyA113 I ain't sayin' that he's gotta redo all that stuff but it's pretty common knowledge that you don't mess around with a questionable prop. Spending $10 could save him having to replace the plane. Sometimes you can spend a little money that'll save you in the end and allow you to fly longer.
