Repairing the drive on a LS 150 New Holland Skid Steer

Please excuse my ignorance in the commentary. The rear pump supplies pressure for the bucket and the loader and primes the two hydrostic pumps for the left and right side drives. The hydrostatic pumps are variable displacement pumps that use a swash plate to control the amount and direction of fluid flow. I was able to buy just the shaft for the front pump and the drive plate and a couple of seals and gaskets for around $300.00 and complete the repair.

Seen this happen on two NH skid steers. Seems two bolts and bell housing a little flexible. Splines on on went bad even with bolts tight. I drilled a small hole in top of bell housing above spline to be able to squirt gear oil on them. Dry splines lead to early failure. I have a L 785 that has much heavier drive shaft spinning pump with grease fittings. Awesome older simpler machine never breaks down.Good video.

repaired a few same issue. Two bolts not stiff enough let's pump flex and splines strip. I added another bracket to support pump. This was back in 1997.

Hey Robert! Thanks for the video sir. I have a question that you might be able to answer. I have a New Holland l785. Do you know how to disengage the hydraulic drive mechanism to enable skid steering to roll freely?

As far as I could tell there was no by pass for the fluid to allow the machine to roll easily. I was fortunate enough to have a larger loader to pick up and move the skid steer until I repaired it.

Just did this same repair on LS160 with 2300 hrs not an easy job all bolts were tight so vibration and flex would have to be the cause.

That seems to be my only option. I would love to get it to roll freely so I can haul it elsewhere without having to pick it up. Is there any way to bypass it?
