At this stage of Leg 3, the boats, much like the sailors operating them, are really starting to wear from the constant punishment of the rough sea state. Niall Myant-Best delves into the ever-expanding job lists that the 4 IMOCA crews have limited time to complete.

Heart in mouth as a true sailor retrieves the drone on a bucking ocean at speed. As innovative daring and effective as Ukrainians and their drones. Explanation of why so many birds swarm to inspect Malizia at speed

The sailboat changes the wind a little. The birds like to play with the change in the wind.

I must be getting a dopamine rush from watching all the boats. My heart literally jumps and starts beating faster when I get a notification from this Chanel and the individual team channels. Just wonderful and exciting. Thank you again for this incredible coverage. I love the red reset button. I might need one when this race ends and I no longer have my daily Ocean Race dose.

Hi…, what happens if the ice line is moved and a yacht is now too far south and find themselves inside the exclusion zone? How long does a team have to exit and go north and clear of the line?

Great show yet again. Can't believe the damage these boats sustain without falling apart. Ugh, that reef tear on 11th Hour, not sure what you can do with that. Rope weave (stitch with halyard material) and patch? Struggling to think of a better way to cure that resin. How about to leave the stove on, seal the chamber as best as possible, and cook the repair like an oven?

Would be great if the cameramen could use some lightweight gimbles to keep the live pictures straight, but maybe the camera is attached to their head - and anyway they definitely need "one had for the boat" in these conditions!

The very last piece of video here answered to quite a degree how the drone operators are retreiving them after a flight. Shown here is a drone being captured via a vertical handle of sorts protruding from the bottom of it, which of course eliminates any chance of a deck landing which would certainly be impossible anyway. I also noticed that he didn't have a controller in hand, so apparently the cameraman was doing the flying and a crew member did the catching. As a drone pilot, how they are retreiving them has been a puzzle for me, but I still expect that there are several spare drones onboard these boats!

I had a DJI Mini 2 which I fitted a handle to, they definitely make landings easier, mind you I wouldn't try landing it above 4 knts on my boat! I have a Mini 3 Pro now, just need to find a handle for it.

FYI Sailing Uma had an episode on flying and retrieving a drone. Theirs did not havè a handle so she wore a heavy glove.

Remember the old racers racing frew Ice bergs at 20 knots at night staring at there radars , Feeling the air for cold rivers of air coming off Bergs & all out in the open actually steering the boats ... How things have changed ... For the better ???

Great coverage. I am both not surprised that there are failures on these boats and then surprised that there are so many and that they seem to be a result of underestimating the forces involved in sailing continuously weeks on end in the harshest waters the planet offers. Light is not necessarily right. Am I a naval architect or engineer of any kind? Nope. Just a daysailer on the Salish Sea in my 2000 lb 24 foot racer, and even on these protected waters suffered a deck separation from hitting a wake from a fast freighter. But it seems that there are areas of vulnerability that those who have done this endurance test many times should be knowledgeable of. Just as sails are triple laminated at the clue should they not be ultimately reinforced at these and other stress points? Shouldn't "slam" load points on flat bows be ultimately reinforced. Shouldn't known stress points on spars be engineered for worst scenarios? If I'm not surprised are the engineers behind these designs? --monday morning

Is it just me or are there more viewers who conclude that the VOR65 were significantly more durable than the Imocas? I haven't seen that many technical problems in the last two races together.
