I repeated this year, I’m supposed to be in 11th grade but im in 10th. I have been diagnosed with depression before the pandemic but the pandemic really messed me up even more. Had absolutely no motivation in my work which lowered my performance so drastically and it was so hard to focus. I just couldn’t believe this is happening but i just hope i catch on and will try to work better this time, even everyday is a very miserable life. Remember when you repeat a grade you’re not Alone, we all are human beings and we make mistakes, it doesn’t mean you’re stupid, you’re just broken or gave up on everything.
Im scared of disappointing my single mom. I go to online school and im a 10th grader, she put me in online school because I hated 9th grade in public school. She always told me ''don't be the best student, just be average'' and I failed to do that. my mom was an incredible student and same with my dad they were 1st in their class in all of their years and here am I about to fail 10th grade because I haven't studied all year and Im late on my history and programing classes. I just got a messege from my teacher a week ago that I didn't even see until now. it said ''im sorry''' Im just absolutely devistated I don't know what to do or what im looking for when writing this. And I just feel sorry for my mom, I could've just listened and studied her financial situation was always a bit above average until now. Shes getting 1 bad news after another and I haven't even told her and Im scared to tell her. I love my mother with all my heart and I don't wanna hurt her even more.

i was supposed to be a seinor this year but failed due to lack of credits i thought it would not dawn on me as much but when april came around i started being less energetic because i saw i was the annoying classmates to the seinors in my third period my teachers even wondered why i stoppped talking and stop being so energetic seeing seinors purchase caps and gowns and saying we are graduating this year made me hella depressed and whats even more sad about it is it depressed me even more seeing my friend graduate without me and then they shoved it in my face saying you should have worked harder so i did what everyone else kept thinking would he just be quiet and walk away everytime i walked up to my classmates i saw they were annoyed so i stopped doing work and started sleeping often in class and not eating lunch anymore seeing them be happy and chatting it up everyday as the perfect friend group dawned hard on me and it gave me a thought of damn i do not matter to anyone at this school at all i never thought i would ever in life get left behind a grade and what hits harder and worse is seeing people who picked on you watch your downfall while they live the good life seeing them drive cars and talking to people i cannot talk to is just like dang bro my high school experience really was trash and sad but being at peace is better than having people make fun of you for who you are
Looking back at my life i still remember that bloody 9th class oh god yea i failed in 3 major subjects i was asked to repeat the class i was 15 at that time and all my frnds got promoted to 10th class 🙂i was walking through corridor and was about enter the class (first day of 9th) suddenly i stopped by the door of my class i could hear the students giggling having a great time enjoying there first day of 9th class while i was standing outside preparing myself to face them , thinking how embarrassing it will be when they'll get to know I'm repeating so yeah these thoughts surrounded my mind but i gathered the will and entered the class, the eyes of every student present in the class were at me i walked to an empty bench but the class teacher stopped me asked my name and then she responded your name isn't mentioned in the class you don't seem to belong to this class , at this moment my heart started beating like a racing car then i got close to her told her that I'm repeating the class and then i sat on a chair Nobody knew i was repeating until a teacher arrived 🥺 and called out my name and said YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS REPEATING RIGHT? 💔 This moment shattered me into pieces i responded 'yes' and again everyone was looking at me giving the worst looks they can give i controlled myself untill the break period i rushed to the washroom as fast as i can and cried like hell over there, washed face got back to the class until my soo called frnds arrived who were promoted to 10th called me in their class i was happy to meet them but things began to change when they started making fun of me by saying things like : oye bro wo ladki dekh rha hai usko didi bulana abse🥲😔so jokes like these i left the class took my tiffin went to the football field all alone sitting there holding tears in my eyes and when finally my school got ended i went to board the bus as usual but but as i was repeating the class they got to know about me and the bully's who used to sit at the back of the bus made fun of me like it wasn't enough for me Note: I have currently completed my schooling and preparing for a competitive exam 😌

Man, I had to repeat the third grade due to some learning disability. For my second year in third grade, I did way better and I was in the clear to skip a grade, but my parents never agreed on it. They still kept me in the same school so, of course, I was bullied for it. It really took a toll on my self-esteem/self-worth which still affects me to this day. (I'm in 10th grade now) A takeaway for any parents watching this is if your child needs to repeat a grade.. *do not keep them in the same school.*

I am reading many of your comments. I am a parent of a second grader. He does not have any diagnoses but has a later birthday in May. It has been recommended that we consider repeating. We love our school but I think it would be best to repeat at a new school. Kids can be mean and I don’t want my little boy to experience that as you said bullying. I got held back in 6th grade and then again in 7th grade. Getting made fun of by both of my former classes and then again with my current class. Thank God for athletics because then I graduated school. I’m 12 hours away from my bachelors. I’ve now had a career in law enforcement for the last 7 years. It’s possible to get through man you just gotta believe.
This comment motivates me so much because I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get held back again. The first time was for health reasons in the 8th grade and so I never wrote my end of year exam and this time I was unable to write one of my math papers for my end of year exam (9th grade) because I was sick and I wasn't granted an excusal or given the opportunity to write it. Over here if you fail math you fail the year so it's kinda important. I really don't think I'll move on to the next grade but I've really worked hard to do better and I'll continue to do so

Yes you did mess up, but it is for the best to repeat the grade. People should not be mean to you, everyone struggles with something. Saturday October 7th, 2023 I can relate to this video. I began my journey through CMS at the age of 4 back in 2003. I started the 3rd grade on Monday August 20th, 2007 but when it came down to the EOG, I did not pass, so I had to redo the 3rd grade for the 2008-2009 school year. Instead of me being a class of 2017, I became a class of 2018 due to repeating the 3rd grade. It was the only time that I got held back.

I failed 6 grade and they didn’t tell me i repeated intel the first day of school ( one of the most traumatizing and embarrassing moments of my life ) I passed the summer school class with 2 Cs for math and reading. I even had perfect attendance 😞 So why did I Waste my time in the first place to even try . So I gave up on life and lost all my motivation. I definitely died that day on the inside because I was already dealing with my parents getting a divorce and getting bullied at that so it was all too much for me to handle mentally and I’m 21 now and just leaning how to cope smh

My case is a bit different. Actually; at the time of stream selection, I chose humanities even though I got a very good percentage in 10th(94.06%) . My parents were very against my decision since I am good in academics and my father actually wants me to become a doctor and now I regret my decision since I understood I have the potential to become a doctor. So, I have decided to repeat my 11th with science stream.I do feel guilty for wasting one of the precious year of life but atleast I learnt something from my mistake and now the only thing I care about is fullfilling my father's dream.
Yes , in my criteria my major fault was to the change of board to cbse , I eventually realise that cbse is even deteriorating my performance so I may seek to convert to ISC again for class 11th

I knew someone in my grade who had to repeat 10th grade. This was 2009 when COD: MW2 just came out just in time for the holidays. He got really good at the game and tried to go pro by skipping school and practicing every day. He missed 120 out of the 180 school days and was forced to repeat. He never got anywhere in any professional gaming career.
I have to repeat (I think) 9th grade (in the us school system, I'm Dutch). How it works at my school you have the 'core' subjects: Math, English, Dutch and then everything else like history, geography, spanish etc. are just normal subjects. I was failing History, Dutch, Chemistry, Physics and Math... yeah my grades were fucked up but I fixed kinda and I was only failing Physics, Dutch and History. How it works just in all of The Netherlands is that you have 4, 5 or 6 years of high school, depending on your intelligency (more years of high school means "smarter") and I had to do 6 years because I used to be pretty smart before high school. But when I got to high school I always just kinda struggled to learn and study for school because you never really had to do that before, the teacher would just say like "Yeah, next week history test" and you'd get a 2 sided sheet of the stuff that you had to learn, would look the night before the test at that stuff and just get an A the next day you know. But after 3 years of high school you have to choose your "subject package", there are 4 options: Economy and Society, E&S Culture and Society, C&S Nature and health, N&H Nature and technical, N&T. I chose E&S, which pretty easy compared to N&H or N&T (C&S is pretty much just like art...) so it didn't matter that I was failing physics, because I didn't choose that subject, so only Dutch and History counted, which fits the requirements to pass the grade... At my school we have like 5 semesters and 5 "exam weeks", always the week before the holidays in between the semesters. And after I got all my grades back... I was failing Math... last minute... so now I was failing Math, Dutch and History. (Grading works like so: 1 - 10, 1 the worst grade and 10 is the best grade, to pass a subject your average grade has to either a 5.5 or higher, if your average is under a 5,5 your failing the subject.) And I tried explaining to the school that repeating 9th grade was pretty useless (because my dutch grade was a 5.4... only 0.1 away from passing) and that it would only destroy my confidence and motivation for school but they just didn't want to listen to me. School is starting next week and I just feel so depressed because all my friends, or just everyone that I even know at school in general DID pass, at school it is that grade 7, 8, and 9 are called "junior high" and grade 10, 11 and 12 are "senior high", but juniors and seniors don't have the same lunch breaks or time schedules, so I will just basically never see them, because of the different schedule basically when I am in class they will have lunch breaks, and when I have lunch breaks they will be in class... I WILL LITERALLY NEVER SEE THEM. I have been just really depressed, I just can't sleep at night anymore because I just can't get this shit out of my head... I'm actually typing this at 00:30 AM right now... I just don't know what to do anymore.

I switched educational systems from 844 system which is basically 8 years of primary school and 4 years of high school to the british system which is from year 1 to year 13. If I had stayed in 844 I would have finished school in 2025 as I was already in my second year of high school there but now I'm finishing school in 2027 and I was taken back to Year 9 in the british system cause in this particular school they don't allow students to join Year 10 or 11 because at those stages you are considered a candidate and cannot join mid year which is the time I transferred schools due to family issues not only do I look to stupid to my peers, no one wants to talk to me, I don't have any friends and I am constantly being picked on I am so tired and now I'll be finishing school when I'm nearly 20 and all my friends from primary will probably be in there 2nd year of college I am so embarrassed.
I have to repeat Spanish 1 and biology during my junior year. On top of that all of my classes are failing. The reason why I am in 2 freshman classes is because my homeschool credits didn’t transfer and the reason why my classes are failing is because I’m losing hope and can’t focus.

I’m not from the us but I had to repeat a year in school this year. My old school was so terrible that we had no teachers in classes and for the whole of year 9 we did no work. when I left , 15 teachers did too. I go to a grammar school now but the kids are convinced I’ve moved down a year because I’m stupid. I’m not doing so well at school at the moment, they have all the proof they need. The immigration part (before the flight) for me was scary since i had to go alone without my aunt to help me (im an unaccompanied minor). But hey, i made it through and now im here. Ive got around a week left before i start school (face to face) and honestly im quite nervous since i dont know how to speak arab and im about to meet new people that i dont know. Well, wish me luck i guess.

@@snowie7318 I am also repeating but it won't cost anything in the future I consulted many people who already got jobs they only told what matters is 12th percentage and sometime the may ask why is there a year gap but it don't do any harm to your future. Honestly i don't really know how it's gonna be for me i got caught up in family issues like very serious ones i have shit mental health the whole year was a complete waste of time since i was just barely trying, i was hoping purpose would come and find me after most of the stuff was settled i realise how badly i messed up ofc i don't wanna beat myself up over the past i wasn't in the best situation to study actually to function either i performed really poorly in my 9th grade examinations the final result has yet to come but I'm sure I'm failing because of my poor performance my cousins my dad my relatives, I'm very sure they're gonna make fun of me, insult me in every way they can

With me i had cancer and celiac disease “gets really sick from eating gluten ehich is in almost all foods”, so ive been sick often, and my grades gotten worse because of it, they aint letting me through to the next grade sadly, i didnt choose for my health to suffer and they be lying with just dont go to school if you cant

well Im not really repeating a whole grade but I was supposed to graduate by 2025 but due to some personal stuff happening, I'll be graduating in 2026. I was going to high school as a junior back in like october but suddenly my family had plans of living in another country so I had to stop going to school. Now Im taking a gap year and preparing to retake math in october/november and note that I did pass math last year as well as other subjects but for math, I was planning on studying it 11th and 12th grade so I want to improve my grade right now since I'm basically 'free' right now at this point. It still kinda sucks my friends will graduate before me but oh well.
i totally understand you, I'm in a similar situation, all of my friends are gonna graduate this year but I have to stay and graduate a year after. I'm still in the same grade as them this year but they are already planning their graduations etc and I am here just left out. The worst part about it is I blame myself. Last year I had 4 brain surgeries and my memory was affected. I was in the hospital for 2 months and when I got out my doctors told me to take a break and not go to school for another 2 months. But I didn't listen to them because I was scared that I would repeat the year if I didn't go back and learn everything. and this year I had a memory test which came back as "severe memory damage" and I just am so annoyed at why whilst all of my friends are graduating, why am I being left out?
This year I might repeat an grade I was doing good on my grades then when I got sick really bad for month and my grades started slipping slowly to an Straight F I might repeat my grade I'm upset because most of friends tried helping me but my account was disabled when I started doing my work. so now I gotta wait till I'm not sick. I've only heard of two times where someone had to repeat a grade or go to a way lower grade. People say repeating grades is becoming less common, but it seems to maybe be needed for some people. It's better to redo a bad year than to struggle even more in the above grade. We always hear how embarrassing it is to repeat a grade and that the people who do it are stupid, and although this is sometimes true, other factors like the school failing the person and stuff like depression also need to be taken into account. Someone messed up big time somewhere, not attending school at all is bad, schools need to help students instead of making them struggle more. We need better actual real mental health resources in schools, we need attendance to go up to help y'all indeed.
I failed maths and science tests and i am in 8 th grade, that was actually not a really important test but still my parents and my brother they always put me down and insult me and tell me that i'll not be able to pass 8th grade although those tests aren't gonna add up to the percentage, half yearly exams are approaching and i haven't started studying for it, i feel like such a failure and what they talk about me is true:(
i had to repeat 8th grade im so ashamed of myself like i couldve worked harder but the school i was in made me not do two exams they were in the same day btw due to me having hot temperatures and they thought i had covid but it was just a sick like i was fine and i got tested and all turned out negative then when i was prepared to redo the two exams in summer they told me u didnt get covid so u cant do the exams thats how i had to repeat the whole yr and seeing my niece whos the same grade as me in a upper grade just makes me feel more ashamed oh and i was late in school like i joined first grade when i was supposed to be in 2nd grade that rlly sucks
I personally chose to keep myself back because of Covid and online schooling I just dipped then so I did it again and I’m taking a field trip to the high school on Friday this week and it is gonna be so embarrassing 😂
Hi am from jamaica and its pretty hard in the education system, i was supposed to do cxc this year and i didnt get the chance to do it because i missed the due date and i know i wasnt prepared and also my teacher hasnt even covered half the ciriculum and as you know my father is very angry but never the less i know ill push through❤
i am going into grade 11 this year, but i had to repeat my grade 10 science all because of my grade 9 teacher, he failed the whole class, who were all forced to be pushed into the lower class, (i need the higher science in order for the uni programs) i know that all it is 1 period a day for a semester but i truly can not stop stressing over it, i know its just a little bump in the road for a few months but it messed up the rest of my schedule.

Repeating 11th grade It sucks it REALLY sucks today was the first day i joined +1 again sitting with my juniors and i felt so so embarrassed idk how i held back my tears Due to some severe injury i had to skip school for months and couldn't give my finals thats why the school didnt pass me even Idk how things will go on

Currently I'm repeating my class 9th And it's a weird story but i was giving my final examination of class 9th and i gave 5 exams but these days were so difficult for me that i can't explain i was going through so much I have exam phobia due to which everything was going on very weird and my mental health was worsen And the biggest mistake i did is i chose bio in class 9th And i hate bio actually So today is my bio exam but i skipped it because i don't want to study bio next year in 10th too I have interest in computer science and i want to study that but if i want to change the subject now i have to repeat grade 9 And i decided to do it Because i want to continue with what i like instead of pushing myself everyday next year too then crying over it because i can't do it Then getting an exam phobia Feeling worse about everything and about myself too It's a difficult decision for me but i hope that i don't regret it

Well yesterday was my maths final exam and i literally worked so hard for it I studied for it like 7-8 hours but it didn't went to well and i am really scared what if I failed in it what if I had to repeat although my other subject exam went really good I'm in 9th except maths i did good in every subject from start but i am really sad and scared right now i just pray i don't have to repeat

Well this year I was promoted to 10th grade but because of changing schools I had to repeat my 9th now I became a girl who's 16 and still in 9th and u know what hurts? I’m ngl I’m repeating and I’m not mad I’m just sad because my 9 year old brother also is making fun of me he says that he’ll be in my grade soon and he just brings it up randomly when someone asks me about school and repeating doesn’t help when I gotta repeat the grade that my friends already didn’t talk to me and talked behind my back in I literally had no real friends my only real friends were the ones that didn’t live in my state now I’m gonna repeat and know anyone, “your gonna meet new people” well I don’t wanna meet new people because they are all from the grade that’s supposed to be under mine but I’m staying back so I’m in the same grade as them now so why would I meet new people? They all know each other even the 3 people I do know they’re not gonna talk to me. I’m only staying back because I missed so many days the only reason I did was because I was diagnosed with a medical condition which made me forget a lot of things, have to eat salty foods and Gatorade, and more things then I’m thinking I’m depressed because of this so this is just gonna make me more depressed, my friends used me, everyday at lunch they’d ask me for food even though they got school food (I brought food from home) and because I’m nice I gave them my stuff, my gatorade, and my chips, I gave 2 friends my 2 gatorades I always brought and 1 my chips but then I had nothing to eat so I thought I’ll just eat at home, I never ate breakfast, never ate lunch, I only ate when I got home, I barley ate, and this summer was sad too my brother broke his arm so we couldn’t go to the beach (my mom said it wasn’t fair because he couldn’t go) or the pool or a lake or go hiking literally anything so now it’s august and his cast is off and his arm is healed and we went to the pool once I’m only including this because I didn’t really go outside which made me even more sad because I saw all my friends doing something and I didn’t do anything, but over the summer I got into music but that doesn’t help still I don’t have any motivation anymore and I can’t really trust anyone I only trust my partner, the fact my best friend I met in 4th grade and my best friend that I met in kindergarten met in 5th grade and I had to introduce them to each other and now they’re like just best friends and pushed me aside that messed me up. I really like don’t believe repeating is good it makes the student sad and prob depressed yeah they might not understand anything and if you push them along they won’t understand what’s happening still but what’s better mental health or learning things you’ll never use in life? I only go to school for half a day and the kids in school think that’s so good they always be like “take me with you” but it’s really not good because then my schedule gets cut and they mixed all my classes up making me go to guidance for 1st period and then my 2 classes english and math then lunch then history they changed my schedule soo much I didn’t understand what was going on then my friends go and say “I wish I could be a teachers friend” you guys are? You guys always just go up to a teacher and talk to them and laugh and stuff I’ve never had that and then they go cry about getting a B on their test and then I gotta convince them that it’s not bad because people get lower grades than you so why are you crying? And staying back makes me wanna try to change how I dress and stuff because I don’t really want anyone I know to know it’s me (I’m also sorry for my grammar lol I don’t really use it)
me i am so failure i failed my grade 8 because i was so lazy to study and i pass by telling them i made a surgery so i cant write re test and i went grade 9 then i did the same thing i falied al my terms in all my subjects i didnt care much because i had a re test and also if a failed they will let me pass because i made money that is what i heard from my friends in the school and also failed my re test and my father was so angry and the problem i fail all the time because my father was always saying to me that i was a faliure and you will never be sucessful in life that is why and still i failed so what should i do can anyone know what should i do can also anyone know someone can help me
Yo i dont really comment on videos But i jus wanna Tell everybody that is going tru this to just not give a fuck about it. I didnt repeat one class But 3 . If you want to get rid of those feelings of being left out just change schools And make new friends or shit like that. It might feel like its a big thing But it really isnt. Its all about what you are doing after. Most give up And drop out or shit like that. Btw after repeating 3 grades i just finished highschool this year And Im really happy about it. I reapeat 7th in corona it was not my mistake but then also i need to reapeat because of family issue all were corontine and the admission get delay so i need to reapat that year...iam felling so lonely from that My class student are now in 10th and iam in 9th i feel so bad i get deppres everyday and regreat that thing why i do repeat and iam so introvert so i cant share my feelings to anyone and it was not my mistake just family's problem and i need to reapet that whole year and my parent take it so lightly but i cant 😞😭😭
