@@restingsadfacevery freaking true or just watching them or looking up at the TV again at live TV and finding something different and or interesting or unmuting the TV after not looking at it for a while and actually finding something that you really like or are interested and intrigued in. Like that's happened to me a couple of times before when watching TV usually when I'm watching AS(Adult Swim) after CN transitions into AS. Most of them that I do find interesting are usually just commercials for like adult products or adult necessities products or adult cleaning products but idk I just like the tame and chill nature of them a lot and some of them just are actually quite ingenious on top of it all too and sometimes funny sometimes even whenever they implement they're comedy it's like in that subtle manner and I quite honestly really like admire and respect that. That and the chill and tame ones that I watch and tune in to view for it's like what @awesomecassiejean said which is sadly and unfortunately very true a lot of the newer ones are often times just a sensory overload in some spots and channels especially and I think that's another reason why I have come to love and appreciate the calmer and tamer ones now more too especially and also kind of because I'm a adult so yea the sensory overloads; that's a no for me fam(not to be rude but that and I just in some cases REALLY don't want to experience a seizure or anything anywhere near close to one ._.")
There is something endearing about nostalgia for old commercials, rather than the ones we avoid now. Maybe it has something to do with how much time we have but now do other smaller things with it? Also, the quality of the commercials have a different feel. They seem too sterile. Nothing that seems to grab the attention.
Also the fact that a lot of these things from old commercials aren’t even sold anymore, so it feels less like you’re being advertised to. It’s just a mundane, yet at the same time, fascinating look into the past.
@@actioncapitalist6521 we're just aware of the ads being shoved down our throats in a way we weren't when we were kids. And yes, ads were still shoved down our throats. Just in less intrusive ways, and not quite as many.
I've seen unrestored movies from the 70s that look worse. But this commercial was probably recorded only as high as 480p (and I doubt it's even that high,) so that'll explain why it's low quality; it's probably 240p.
I finally got my hands on one of these in a thrift store out of box. Had to show my family this commercial to jog their memories and justify my impulse purchase. MY CHILDHOOD DREAM
Could you imagine if they had mentioned Black History Month once they showed the watermelon cake? Cause that was the first thing that popped into my head when I first seen it.
I remember being 10 years old, wanting this so bad. I just knew I was going to be baking watermelon cakes on a regular basis. Here I am 20 years later watermelon cake-less and full of regret 😭
I actually got it when I was around ten and I used it a few times for different birthday parties! Best one was when I made a pokeball cake for my yoinger brother. This commercial is top tier nostalgia
I remember staying up late in middle school watching toonami on the weekends and having to sit through these commercials. I remember the zoo books too.
same! It's the only reason this commercial lives rent free in my head, I think it stands out the most cause most of us were like "why tf is that cake on fire" as a child.
I once heard that the older you get, the more excited and appreciative you get of appliances. I thought it was bullshit until last year at 29, when I got really excited over a portable washing machine.
This commercial is the literally the only reason why I wanted to try ice cream cake so so bad today as an adult I finally tasted ice cream cake for the 1st time of my life thanks to my daughter & her bff now I am here retrying to find this product so I may recreate this for my daughter
Someone identified the song in a different thread, the song is called "Sun Roof" and there's more than one version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z3sR76jqzjU.htmlsi=XyEnahda5GwAqiL5 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gI1T-QIV8-E.htmlsi=qhuorhTCUDUuR6CC
A lot of TV shows and commercials from the early and mid 00's have an ugly, unsaturated tone to them. It was some weird trend to make things look more "real".
I always assumed commercials like this were from the 90s and I would wonder how many years they've been airing, but it's crazy because now stuff from the early 2000s looks like how stuff from the 90s used to look in the 2000s.
I remember knowing it was safe to use the bathroom when this commercial came on. It lasted a while and you knew the show wouldn't start again until this was over at least.
I remember as a kid begging my mom for this constantly and her trying to explain to me over and over that it doesn't actually come with the cakes in the commercial. I thought she was lying and I could eventually break her. Patience of a saint that woman
considering i can get twelve betty crocker batterwitch multipurpose cake mixes for the price of an old fashioned i think she just didn't want to spend the coin on a appliance that takes up space next to the 12 different varieties of tupperware that dont stack
I found 3/4 pieces of this set at a thrift shop for $4.99 total, the only thing it was missing was the base pan, but you can use any good 8-inch round baking pan. Believe it or not, it works. It blew my 6-year-old nephew’s mind the first time I used it 😂
What's amusing about this situation is that I clicked on an advertisement for a cake pan, even though I detest ads on RU-vid. This serves as a reminder of the nostalgic aspect of ads from that era. In contrast to today, when we can block or skip them, we were previously forced to either endure them or find alternative activities like fetching a snack, using the restroom, or going outside for fresh air before continuing with our programs. Nowadays, we often take these conveniences for granted, as we were unable to bypass ads in the past.
I wanted it when I was 8 years old also. Baking was so much easier and faster back then. Now baking is a 4-5 hour process with layers and different shapes. I just wanted something simple for my family. 🎂
The background music is so nostalgic Wish I could go back to those days, coming home from school, watching Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon as I ate dinner, then playing Wii and not doing my homework till the last minute
As a kid seeing this, I always thought the music was so depressing. Seeing this 14 years later, I realize now it's just stereotypical mid-2000's infomercial music.
Honestly I find the music for this commercial is actually really mesmerizing, takes me back to when I was a kid watching these commercials and always wanting to know what the song was called
Always got a warm, summery vibe from it for some reason. Even "tropical" believe it or not, which doesn't make much sense lol. Def had Florida on the brain when watching this for the first time during a cold New England winter.
This was the only infomercial product I could ever get my mom to buy. She made a cake for my birthday with it and brought it to school. Then like every other infomercial product, it got put in a closet and forgotten.
Ah yes…always hated that. Still do. Mom got a chocolate fountain. Used it once. I would always ask her to use it again. She always had some excuse. Made no sense. She always loved cooking and baking. I still don’t get it.
When I saw this on TV, I was young and had never baked a day in my life. But hell I wanted these pans so badly. And then when they threw in the dome pan for free, holy moly. Never wanted something so bad in my life😂
It’s basically a dome of ice cream on a layer of cake that’s then covered in meringue before being browned in a 500F oven or with a blowtorch. If browning it in the oven, make sure the ice cream is rock solid before doing so of you’ll end up re-enacting #bingate from the Great British Bake Off.
I found one of these at Goodwill last week and my inner nine-year-old self rejoiced! I still haven't used it yet but I'm trying to decide on what to make with it.
i think the comment's meant to be ironic but this is a great example of why nostalgia can be dangerous. progress looks ugly through rose tinted glasses.
@@kingcrimson4133 damn i forgot about this comment from 4 years ago. But you're right. I was just expressing how nostalgic this commercial makes me feel but I guess I felt like being cheeky about it.
0:01 "did you hear that Brenda uses the Betty crocker bake n' fill cake pans ™️" "Ughh she's so tacky" "I heard she and bill are going through a divorce, now she's just becoming a try hard and overcompensating for everything" "Honestly I feel bad for Brenda, but they should call cps on her, all she does is feed her kid cake"
@@georgelopezmemes so I made this comment and forgot about it, and I still can't find the exact soundtrack. I swear it sounds like the character creation music in the Sims 1 for the PS2 specifically, but I can't find it. But for the same type vibe ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bs5QGN-zhwM.html the og Sims PC soundtrack is very similar, but not quite right.
@@Deismir Hi! Late answer but I thought it'd be cool to look into this; The music stuck out to me as well and made me think of The Sims. It reminded me particularly of 'Neighbourhood 2' ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1nVAg8VujGA.htmlsi=RSR7MWnTerzfsHnA And also a bit of 'SHD_dt_cheap4' or 'Two's Company' ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8hJi8YtGx5g.htmlsi=YBGGt7kD4v6YDCsd Going through the 'Cheap' or 'Muzak' part of the soundtrack to Hot Date is great in general, lots of old timey 60's/70's Production Music. The song in the commercial is called 'Sun Roof (no horns)' btw! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z3sR76jqzjU.htmlsi=6-D3sDXRnpl4QljB
