Im not shure if you know this or not but you dont need to wire in an extra cap instead of useing a dual run. You only need 3 wires to hook up a condencer fan motor. The white (or yellow) common wire and the brown/white are connected inside the motor. So you dont need one of them. Check the continuity to see what im talking about. An example of wireing would be black to L1, white to L2 (or to common on the cap) and then brown to fan on cap. All other wires are nutted off and zip tied up in place. I see allot of guys doing this. Hell i use to do it till i started reading into motors more. Keep up the good work! =D

The capacitor looks like it was just about to explode or wrapped with something that is just odd??? Maybe a new duel run capacitor would have been a good idea 💡 just a thought 💭.

If you wrap it tight enough, they won't bulge/fail.

I have (4) 11/32" nut drivers for just that reason, lol One for each of 3 bags, plus one stuck to my magnet bar in the back of the van!

9MM is very close, only talking 0.354" to 0.344" so about 0.01" larger in size than an actual 11/32 :)

I love those little tiny Carrier ~ Bryant 2 ton units. They're so tiny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me those little guys aren't the coolest. Next one i find during a change out, I'm fixing and painting up to keep and just look at. They're so tiny!!!!!

I have one of these units with no real problems since it was installed in 2005. I had a filter drier and txv put on 2006. It cools well. Rubber washers where the fan grill mounts to the machine take care of any vibration issues. I also switched to a quieter 4 blade propeller that moves more air and is less of a strain on the motor. I measured current draw to make sure.

I reckon the BIG question for the experienced HVAC techs would be, are there OEM motors that will direct fit these older condensers and would it be best to use ball bearings vs. sleeve bearings? Its usually the bearings that fail first so my concern is which is failing the earliest, ball or sleeve? Also, are there universal motors that can be ordered to turn the correct direction without having to use those with the "exposed reversing wires" which I hate to look at.

Just a thought but have you considered changing the dual capacitor in that situation. The fan capacitor needed to be changed anyway. Just a thought. But good job at getting them running.

if you have a cordless grinder, just cut the shaft of bad motor right above the fan hub, it's much quicker than fighting the rust on those long shaft universals :)

Thats what I use and then I just got some hollow tube I carry with me and beat the blade out if still wants to give me trouble.

That is a harden steel, more work, let a rust penetrant do the job or puller.

Question about replacing a condenser fan.. I'm looking for options to replace my ac condenser fan motor and not sure how to find the correct part. I have a Trane system model 4TTR5036E1000AA that has never been serviced since new. On my service facts sheet it says I should have a motor with an 850 RPM rating although when I read the label on the motor itself it says it is an 835 RPM motor.. Also, I'm not sure of what part numbers I'm looking for. The service parts list shows an OEM part of MOT12750 however on the motor label I see different numbers which are: 5KCP39MF AC66AS -- and then CPN D154950P01 any help of what to look for would be appreciated, thanks.

That's a sad old-looking mini-Bryant. Can the rain shield on the shaft collect water and feed it to the lower bearing? There might be a case made for removing it.
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 6 лет назад
the bearing should be up high enough for it to not sit under water, but I suppose wicking up the shaft is possibly. any water sitting on the back side would get flung out as soon as it started of course

People can criticize all they want. Bottom line is this: Look at the unit, its complete trash, if the damn thing runs the rest of the season they will be lucky.

Sleeved bearing motors are junk. Buy a ball bearing motor and it will last much longer.

First... At least get the right tools to perform the job Second you can't uploading this tipe of videos where people can think they can perform the job by them self There is a lot of risk with electricity and even whit the unit thalking about refrigeration You should behave as a technician and not just try to get more views or likes You lost one followers
