Small washer goes on the inside of the bushing then the big washer over it. Its purpose is to keep the new bushing and bolt centered properly. Tightening that small washer to 74nm per oe spec destroys its integrity and this not usable.
@@nutter4butter his top mount was the one that failed, so I'm not sure how one would pull that off without the insanely expensive dealer tool. What I was curious to see was how he got the top mount in. Even with the subframe off, it's extremely difficult to get in regardless of whether you have a press or not.
this worn mount can make a noise when starting the ca, right? for me, one injector failed causing the engine to run unbalanced so it might have broken this mount
Great video dude! i think im having the same issue on my mk6. My bottom bolt actually fell out while driving, I replaced the bottom insert bolt.. but the same noise. Im going to check to see if there is play with the bolt tomorrow.
Why did you jump cut while you were trying to get the new bushing pressed in? I've been trying to do mine all day and can't get it in the way you said to, seems funny to me that you didn't actually show it on video
@Steve C after messing with it for a whole weekend I ended up just putting a big chamfer on the part that bulges out and brute forcing it in with a 3lb sledge, a piece of wood, and a friend to hold it still
on the GTI that’s how I did it and I didn’t have any issues. I’m not sure how other platforms from the MK6 Golf are going to be set up. Use your best judgment and pay attention to what’s attached to what if you have any doubts.
hmm, mine would only clunk when I’d suddenly put on the gas, I’m assuming from the sudden torque put on the failed mount causing the transmission mount to move. Easiest way to diagnose a failed mount is by getting up under the car and seeing if there’s play in that bolt, like I did in the video
Hey Carter, did you have to support the engine in any way? Also, did you have any problems with the installation of the subframe with weight on the wheels? You cut that entire part out of your video.
GO SkidMaRk I did not support the engine. Just had it up on the ramps. The subframe was relatively heavy and awkward to offer up to the car, so I used a jack. But everything aligned just as easy as it came out.
@@cartermaneki I just replaced the center piece without having to remove the lower control arms, but I jacked the entire front off the ground to remove the tension. It worked well!
Great video man. It was reassuring to hear you reaction to the increased vibration because people seem to complain about that after the insert. Has your opinion evolved after driving on it a bit?
I have the 034 metal mount with the 034 dogbone mount. If you're DSG first gear 50% of the time when taking off is gonna shake so bad it feels like your car is gonna stall. It does seem to be getting better after putting miles on it though
Calsin mainly because the bottom mount was good but the top one was bad. the mounts are in there pretty good, especially my upper one since the center was broken and seized onto the bolt. Taking the subframe out gives you a lot more room for tools and examining what’s going on
