By gosh, I had mine apart, pulled fuse and no continuity. My fuse says 250V 30A. Looked on phone to see where i can find a fuse that size and found your video. Low and behold it's the exact microwave your working on. Amazing.

Thank you! all it was was a fuse. Thanks for letting me know that I could replace the fuse at the front where is a bunch of other places had told me I would have to remove the microwave from the wall to access the back panel

I have the same microwave in the rental house that I am living in and the property manager refused to fix the microwave. Thanks for the video and it fixed my issue 👍🏻

Good video but a caution to viewers: High voltage is no joke and I definitely raised an eyebrow with him bare-handedly removing the fuse without (presumably) at least a quick voltmeter check. Microwave capacitors and circuitry can kill. Always take proper safety steps and measure your circuit with a multimeter / Fluke to verify it dead so you will not be touching a live HV source directly or indirectly.

Thank you very much for the tutorial. Followed the guidance and the unit is up and running again. Saved me $100 deductible on my home warranty that my wife thought I should activate instead!

To check the outlet you could also just plug in a light and see if it works.

Heck yeah - thanks Sam! I have confirmed that my fuse is indeed eff'd! Also, it appears that we have the same microwave dude! I totally cringed when i heard the beep at the end - it's SO annoying :) I didn't bother with that screw on the top tho, since it would have been a pain to remove due to the way mine's installed. Luckily, the aluminum cover/plate comes out easily w/o messing with it.

Did you discharge the capacitor? Sometimes if you don’t discharge the capacitor it can blow a new fuse upon starting again. Also just a reminder that capacitors can hold A LOT of charge LONG AFTER THEY ARE UNPLUGGED. so please don’t anyone die over a microwave!

How do you discharge the capacitor? I replaced the fuse with a new one and blew it when I tried to test the microwave

I would not mess with the capacitor as they can be very dangerous and even kill you if not discharged properly.

Microwave door latch switches is one common source of the main fuse blowing. WHY? just imagine how many times a day those door switches latch on/off , this wears them out after a while. So any issues with microwaves, look at these switches first!. of course use safety and caution when working with electrical appliances. Just replacing the fuse without knowing what made it blow is not a good approach as the fuse may blow again for the same issue. I say this with experience. I have a very similar microwave (Kenmore) and on mine one of the 3 Dongnan brand door contact switches was bad (Note: not all the switches are NC and these have to be tested with a continuity tester or VOM , and replaced back in the same location) actually the contacts had worn out on the NC one and fused together making the switch stock in NC position when the door would latch closed, this particular switch should have open the contacts in the switch , in the door close latching operation, so because the contacts had fused together, this was pulling too much current and blew the 20A fuse on my microwave, ultimately, initially the main breaker on the house AC power distribution panel would open , because the MW switch in this picture was going bad. Dongnan are microwave door latch switches are available through Home Depot, similar ones would also work provided they are of the same rating and style, but best to get OEM ones for trouble and worry free operation.

@@walkgood4092 No. I replaced multiple parts starting with the switches, Nothing worked. The switches were after market, that could've played a role. I got tired of tinkering with it and purchased a new microwave.

Hi there Sam. What if my power outlet for my microwave reads "Open Ground". The 20amp fuse keeps breaking as soon as I start the microwave. Would the Open Ground power outlet cause this? thanks, sir.

I have a question! My microwave blows the fuse when you open the door or start it. There is power to the outlet. It use to blow the fuse, we would go downstairs to flip the switch and it would work until you opened the door again. Now it won’t work, but turns on after fixing the fuse downstairs. I can’t find any info online for a criterion microwave. Do you think it’s the fuse or door switch. I’m sorry, I have no clue what to do.

So, all under cabinet microwaves seems to be the same. Standard. However, why the fuse had been blown in a first place? What you showing is a fuse on a RF noise filter board. There is no guarantee it is going to fix the problem in a MW unit and some other part will have to be replaced. In my case replacing this fuse had no effect. It keeps blowing the circuit breaker on a main panel. All these MWs are made in China or Malasia. Mine is saying Bosch on a label but I didn't find a single part yet in it that is made either by Bosch or some other US company. By the way. The board you are replacing a fuse on says it is made by GE. Hold on, didn't GE sold all its home good division plants to Hoyer long time ago?
