How to change rear brake pads on Honda Deauville
In normal way you need you need remove muffler pipe to access rear wheel and brakes, but it can be not so easy as it seems. Faster way is to lift up motorcycle and replace it all from the bottom.

I just picked up one of these Honda nt700 motorcycles in November 2023. It had 7500 miles not kilometers on it when I bought it from the original owner. it took me a while to get it sorted because it had been sitting since approximately 2015 in the owners heated garage with stabilizer in the fuel tank. I have a log of the ordeal I went through figuring out what it was, clogged, fuel filter and lots of debris inside the gas tank left over from the evaporating fuel over the years… The machine actually stranded me 40 miles from home because of fuel starvation due to a clogged fuel filter inside the gas tank. And once I sorted the fuel problem, I discovered there was a problem that turned out to be spark plug cabs, which is a worldwide problem with this particular machine. The NGK spark plug caps develop voltage leak when they get cracked from age and being baked. I replaced the spark plug caps, and that finally cured the occasional hesitation and occasional hiccup and stall issue I had. Now the machine is sorted. I have a video log on my RU-vid channel of the process/progress… as I get familiar with this machine, I’m learning that removing the rear wheel is more like a BMW, as in, difficult for no good reason, then a Honda… I know that BMW makes things difficult, and often meetings, very special, unique tools that only BMW dealerships have. I know this because I had one, and I know BMW dealership mechanics that work on the cars and a BMW motorcycle dealer.. I can’t imagine a motorcycle being more difficult to work on then Honda Gold wing GL 1800 that I had. Just to change the air cleaner was over five hours going by the service manual, to get the rear shock absorber off to upgrade the spring, was longer than that, because I had to start by removing the bezel around the dashboard instrument, panel, and remove plastic all the way back to the saddlebags and remove the battery. The voltage regulator the fuse box, even the fuel tank on the Goldwing, just to get the shock off, following the directions in the Ginuwine Honda service manual… I was lucky enough to get the Honda service manual for my 2010 Honda NT700 eith the bike.. I saw a video in which the guy removed the brake pads on this machine simply by removing the plastic rear fender that’s held on by a few screws inside each of the saddlebags. And he was able to pull the pin and extract the brake pads without bothering with the muffler… thanks for posting this video. I am glad that the original owner of my machine had new Michelin tires installed, probably because the original tires were dry rotted, and order that he could put the machine up for sale… I appreciate owners putting videos of their experience with maintenance on these machines and others as I have done on RU-vid. Thanks.

Effectivement, pas besoin de retirer l'échappement pour changer les plaquettes de frein arrière...

sur asphalte, sans palan ou autre appareil, il faudra retirer le silencieux) vous devrez peut-être également retirer le boîtier pour sortir la roue
