I watched a few videos on how to replace the cabin filter and your vid was by far the best. awesome job at explaining and showing exactly how its done.
Other videos I have looked at did not show the carbon fiber trim piece - yours did, and I could then see where the clips were for it. Once I knew that, it was easy to get it off without breaking it :). Also when I was trying to remove the glove box, there is a plastic support piece that runs underneath it at the back. Had I not seen that in your video, I probably would have been pulling from there and broken it. Once I saw where everything was, it was a 5 minute job. My dealer wanted $79 to change it (flat rate for all ford vehicles, not just F150s). I used a silver marker to mark where the clips where for the carbon fiber piece. Those marks are covered by the rubber trim piece. Next time I do it, I am guessing it will take even less time. Thanks so much!
Well done video. I changed my factory in cabin filter out a after first year (2018 F150 Lariat), and also went with the K&N. I found it easier to put all the items that have tabs, to use a touch of silicone spray on the tabs. It made it so much easier to install and remove the panels later on. Use some Ozium freshener spray on the filter before installing the filter back in place for a nice scent. 👍🏻
Your video was the best video on how to replace this air filter. Thank you! Your explanation of the mechanisms was helpful. This was nearly the same exact process for my 2019 F150 XL.
For the $40 the dealership charges to change it, I will happily have them change it when I get my free oil change. Then when they break that carbon fiber piece it is on their dime.
I'm guessing you should be able to get to it by just removing the section just above the glovebox. Dropping the glovebox down out of the way just gave me more room.
