I've found over the years that the only safe purchase from Autozone is oil. You've probably got it figured out by now but if not then it's either the sensor or a bad conn. at the sensor. Possibly a bad ground, because it's extremely important they are clean and tight and there are several of them. Just a suggestion. BTW it's not possible to change the crank. sensor without removing the starter on any Ecotech. That's a fact. Good luck.

@@c.j.s.2767 A MECHANIC THAT I USED WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE CRANK SENSOR WITHOUT REMOVING THE STARTER. 340 CODE WAS STILL PRESENT UNTIL I REPLACED THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE WITH AN AC DELCO BRAND. HOWEVER THE 340 CODE WOULD TEMPORARILY GO OFF AND EVENTUALLY THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED ON THE CAR AS PER GOOD YEAR.GOOD YEAR DID A COMPRESSION CHECK AND FOUND THE NUMBER 2 CYLINDER HAD LOW COMPRESSION. WE FOUND THIS OUT AFTER IT WOULD NOT START WHEN IT WAS PARKED AT THE CURB. MY ADVICE TO ANYBODY WITH THE MALIBU WITH A 4 CYL ECOTEC ENGINE IS IF YOU HAVE 100K MILES THEN YOU SHOULD BE CHANGING THE TIMING CHAIN AND WATER PUMP AND ALL GASKETS AND TENSIONERS IN THE TIMING COVER. MY MALIBU HAD 207K MILES. WE ALWAYS DID THE OIL CHANGES RELIGIOUSLY. WORD OF CAUTION YOU BETTER DO THE OIL CHANGES EVERY 3000 MILES AND NOT MORE THAN THAT BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. IT IS A MYTH THAT IF YOU USE SYNTHETIC THAT YOU CAN WAIT 10,000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.

Close, but not exact. The Impala would have a v6 engine but the starter would be located in just about the same location. Now if your impala is new enough to have the 3.6, it can be very difficult as a portion of the exhaust needs to come off to gain access to the starter. Here in Michigan, everything rusts up bad.

Fuse box issue when the fuse box is heated the copper contact expand and causes the connection to be lost infamous problem for the 3.6

Okay go try doing it in 30 mins it's a pain in the ass with that mount in the wat so U need to jack up the car and support the motor and also give enough space ... This video is upsetting because I know better

I did at 1:13 in the video.

Try pushing it on while depressing the the tab, then try pulling it off. If that doesn’t work, use a small 90 degree pick to release the locking tab.
