It's indeed a good repro, but i feel the prices are not on pair with what you get... I wish Mattel would get real with their pricing instead of bleeding their fans dry for no reason other than greed...
Loved it. They really did an excellent job faithfully reproducing both Outfit and Doll. I wish I would've gotten a chance to get my hands on the Busy Gal repro as she popped up in TJ Maxx stores here in Europe for a measly 30 bucks a year ago. Next time I will have to act faster. Oh and get well soon, hope the cookie monster helps your thumb recuperate. 😘
30! wow good price! Haha my mom always called me a cookie monster so it’s very fitting. Hard to be a “hand model” these days… i have to be careful with everything I do!
Whoa! She came with music too!? 😂I loved how the must started the moment the box was opened. She is actually very pretty. I prefer her to the silkstones. The silkstone repro dolls just don't look right to me for some reason. I love the prong stand. The glasses are hinged! 🤯I had repro glasses once but they were solid. I am wondering now what doll they came with 🤔 I think this repro is rather fantastic, but you can't beat the vintage magic of the genuine article.
I’ve been having fun with music in my editing 😂. The silkstones do look a bit different I agree, but i still prefer them when it comes to repros. Something about the porcelain-like skin makes them look and feel special. I love the prong stand too! i didn’t use it in the video though since I wanted a fair comparison with my #4. Vintage Magic 🪄 yes!
@@somelikeitvntg That's awesome! I find it tedious to be honest. Where do you source your music? I just take it from the audio library here on YT. I guess the touch sensory thing is important to some people right? Some people probably think they actually look better too. I guess it is good Mattel is catering to a few different audiences. I prefer my dolls to look pretty more than anything else. And also not to smell bad. Oh! I didn't notice you didn't use the stand. It is good you thought of that though! Attention to detail! ❤🥰
@@DeanReen I use thematic for music. You can find the links in the descriptions. They are free all you do is credit the creator to avoid a copy right strike. And yes! touch sensory is very important to me! Especially with fashions. You can tell a lot about a fabric by the way it feels
I’ve never been in to Barbie, but some of them are pretty cool. I do have the Star Trek set and a few randoms that struck my fancy. Great video. Subscribed!
Nice! I wasn't aware they made this one I have the Busy Gal repro from 1995 but she's not a number1 I tried the outfit on a vintage Midge and it looked great I buy the representative for the outfits not necessarily the dolls
I got the reproduction from the early 90s. She has longer fuller hair and resembles a #3 Ponytaul. I like the reproductions more then the originals. Also I noticed that my vintage dolls heads have discolored due to age. My #5 ponytail has a discolored body plus she tends to get greasy so I have to clean her more often. Her head looks good though. Don't have to worry about any of this with reproductions.
Congratulations - they did great job on recreating this iconic fashion set. Unfortunately, do I have the earlier repro from the late 90s why I would have preferred her as a Silkstone. Still, I bought her because she is the first black haired repro with the "original" doll stand. Besides, she was a great opportunity for all those who missed the first Busy Gal repro. Congratulations to yet another informative video.
Hi! The two featured in the video are the best by far. I have seen other vintage collectors say they are the best repros too. If you're looking for another good #1 repro, you can try the Mattel 75th Anniv Silkstone doll. It's not a carbon copy of the original, instead it is a great tribute to the #1 in beautiful Silkstone material.
Busy Gal always captured my imagination. Although it is not one of the 3, Easter Parade, Gay Parisian or Roman Holiday, it was almost gone before Barbie rrally kicked into focus and stricken from the fashion booklets. It is just snappy, eye-catcing with the portfolio upping the intrigue. I have an original and a reproduction which is not this reproduction. Yours is BG reproduction 2. As is almost always the case the reproductions are absolutely great! The fabrics match. The collector should be happy. Really top notch.
I would say the reproduction doll is nice but a little bloodless. I am taking note of your idea that the My Favorite Barbie Wedding Day repro is excellent. I have that but had not stopped to observe that over the other reproductions. The My Favorite Barbie line in particular are incredible reproductions. I have your gingham Dancing Doll pink dress from that series and although I have never held the original in my hand it seems a perfect match.
Wow! The reproduction is great and I love the outfit! Do you sew, or know someone who can sew? With your knowledge and appreciation of Barbie, I feel like you could design and create some stunning ensembles for her! My grandmother sewed me some Barbie clothes from scrap fabrics the year my parents got me my first Barbie (60”s). Bless her heart, she did it because she also had 20+ other grandkids to buy for, or make things for, and couldn’t afford to buy real outfits from the store. But she was an excellent seamstress and the outfits were beautiful, and they were just amazing, to me. I was so thrilled to get them. How cool to be able to design the outfits for Barbie, throughout the years!
I do sew! I used to work in costume shops for 4 years. I haven’t sewn anything for Barbie yet though. I think eventually I will get into sewing, however I guess I just haven’t been feeling as inspired to sew yet.
Some of the reproductions suck! By that I mean the dolls themselves like the hands and seam lines are terrible. The clothes always seem very well done. I myself also have 2 silkstones, the quality on those is amazing. I saw alot of backlash on the recent silkstones like the tea one and the black and white dress one. The tea one had a terrible quality outfit. Ugh. Mattel needs to up their game
Definitely much better than the reproduction from 1995. I only wished it came on a reproduction silkstone. Thank you for an Honest and Pleasant video. PEACE ALWAYS🙏 Question: Do these repro Navy OT shoes fit the vintage dolls? Thanks!
How does this doll compare to the 1995 reproduction with you? Also where do you purchase the doll stands? I have a collection that I have decided to unbox and display. I love this doll.
The 1995 dolls are okay. Not very accurate to the true vintage dolls. There have been better repro dolls in my opinion. I’ve never seen the outfit in person, so I cant make a judgement on that. I do think that the 90s repro dolls are a great starter for those looking to get into vintage barbie, because they are not rare and are priced reasonably on ebay. My stands are called Kaiser Doll stands. I buy them from ebay and amazon.
