People at my polling place today applauded for the first time voters. It was a two hour wait to vote. There was a real spirit of democracy in the room. I don't believe people who truly believe in democracy will be voting for Trump. I live in a Blue State so its no surprise, but the early turn out was absolutely unprecedented. People are fired up!

As a kid growing up almost all of the dads in my neighborhood, my teachers, politicians, etc had served in WWII. Many women I knew had been active in the war effort against Nazis. It was real to us, and frightening. We are 80 years out from our defeat of Hitler. Many Americans have forgotten, or never learned about the threat of fascism. Some even deny the Holocaust. Fascism never really disappears. It goes into hiding for a generation or two, then raises its ugly head again. I wish more people were aware of this.😢

Luckily its not half, thats a common misconception because if your judging the electorate, thats 80% of the citizen population at the BEST of times and many of the electorate dont vote. In reality, conservatives in general are around 40% of the population, with the MAGA base being an even smaller vocal minority. The problem is that the Electoral college dilutes the vote of big states while amplifying the vote of small states, and so many state populations are locked in to their side now, that the vote is decided by a micochasm of the population in several "swing states". In the swing states thats where a vocal minority of a minority can have real political weight.
