These Dark Vengaence models were kinda ahead of their time, so nice that the rest of the CSM range is finally catching up. Awesome restoration as always!
He's actually the 'Champion' of the Crimson Slaughter's Chosen, which never made sense. There were five in the box, plus him, and the squads only come fives. I have mine as an Exalted Champion, which is what I think they might have meant. I don't think he is properly equipped to be a chaos sorcerer, but that's a good choice too. He is supposed to have divination posers, what with the third eye he grew upon losing faith with the emperor.
Something you said really resonated with me. I’m very new to the hobby, and the phrase “let the scuplt speak for itself” just really hit me different. Every model as a story, from the box to the battlefield. We create the story as we build, play and paint. Fucking hell this comment turned into a stream of consciousness. Thanks for the inspiration
Wow a rescue and a new army project! Gotta say, hearing you talk about your process in this video is so inspiring and uplifting and just positive. You have to be one of my favourite youtubers because of your approach and giving these minis a new lease on life, while showing others how it can be done too. As a particularly new/inexperienced painter, it would help me having you explain where you think the last owners might have gone wrong in their process, or what may have lead them to giving up and selling. A sort of miniature post mortem or autopsy if you will. I don't know if it would help anyone else, but I think it would help me. No matter what you do I will always watch. Thanks mate. ❤
That's actually something I'm shooting for in my painting; I may use someone else's color scheme, but I'm trying to find ways that I can make it my own as well, in the ways you mentioned. It's not for nothing I call my painting my Zen time; I'm getting better at and about letting the very thing you mentioned in the video happen and lead me to where the model needs to be. The end result was pretty awesome, I really liked the way the cloak ended up in particular! The face has a Frankenstein Monster vibe about it with what appear to be stitches on it, I'm digging that a lot. Nice work as usual, Casey!
I really like the darker red over that purple. It’s a lot more what imagine khorne marines looking like than the almost blood Angel red I usually see. It’s like a bruised rose color

cool to hear you talk through your process about seeing the lines in your paint job. I think this part of watching other painters paint is one of the most valuable things, and also what makes this hobby so infinitly rewarding. What I do isn't what you do, isn't what the next guy/girl does. Good good stuff man. I'm here for the philosophy :D

I started my Ossiarch Bonereapers army last month. My tips are that they are currently in a rough spot. They do not get to enjoy a lot of the new stuff the new edition brought in at the moment. That may change when they get a new book. Models that could be fun with be the Terrain, the Boneshaper to heal, and the Soul-Mason. The cavalry is also a strong unit, though a bit pricy points wise. The Harvester can do some damage and heal your army as well, but the healing is hit and miss. Their underworlds warband has one of the best models in the range, who is also a hero and a wizard, so that is a fun tidbit lol.
A real cool and effective paintjob on that red CSM. I got the content of the DarkVengeance box three times and everytime I gave most of it away, always trying to reduce my pile of shame. Luckily your video came out AFTER I gave away the last of the CSM, otherwise I would maybe have started another Chaos project, right while I am finally at the last steps of my Deathguard project :D

Very minor point but that mini isn't a Sorcerer. It is from Dark Vengeance, but it's the Aspiring Champion from a squad of Chosen. Your paint job looks great either way.
Hey Casey, I have a problem with stripping some minis I got in a pre-painted status. It looks like the former owner used some heavy artists oil paints to "paint" them. I used Isopropanol but I can't get rid of this stuff. Do you have any tips for me? These are plastic minis btw. Great video btw 😉

Can't go wrong with the Mortek Crawler and the Boneshapers/Vokmortian from what I've heard listening to Doug at 2+ Tough. For me, I will always be more of a fan of 4th-6th Edition Fantasy. I think 4th/5th were the best days of magic but the inclusion of new units, Tomb Kings and Ogre Kingdoms in 6th was nice. I definitely wish there was a rule set based in 4th but covered all the newer units from pre AoS. (6th-End Times) I think for that it just ends up being house rules though, like mages being able to pick their spells instead of having to randomize them (because why wouldn't a lvl2 or higher mage know what his spells are?) and Black Orcs being able to use heavy armor etc.

@@eBayMiniatureRescues Question 2, after you pull the mesh basket out, does the inner tank holding the liquid come out too, or do you have to drag the whole unit over to a sink to dump the cleaning solution when you're done with it?
A quick and not terribly artistic question -- I have the exact same ultrasonic cleaner that you do, but I'm not sure whether it's malfunctioning or what it's supposed to "do" and sound like. I get a high-pitched squeal/buzz and no "bubbling." I use LA's Totally Awesome as well and I've noticed that I don't get much more cleaning of models out of the ultrasonic than I do just leaving them in a tupperware full of LA's overnight. I noticed that the degas light comes on on yours and I haven't done anything with that -- might that be something I'm doing that's boneheaded? The manual doesn't do a whole lot to help, so I figured I'd just ask the expert. Thanks for your videos all around, too -- I'm new to the hobby, but rescuing really painted-up minis has quickly become my favorite part of Warhammer and given me a nice entrance into the old Fantasy gaming community, too. Would never have thought to do any of it without your vids!
I’ve seen some really clever conversions to get the helmet on. It is much better on than off, but the work looked intense! Re sculpting half of the head and figuring out what goes in the now open hand. Still, probably worth it
Yes. He is extreme expensive. But i find his Warscroll really good. With my Nighthaunt i cant him set....He is too expensiv for an ally.....i like this model really.....too sad 😞
Ah yes, the new Nagash thing - stack up as many casts of Arcane Bolt as possible; then if anything charges him, reduce them to dust. But yeah; he is literally half of your army, and it's a fun semi-competitive thing in the latest edition. Not as unique as they were now that CP works like Relentless Discipline, but still solid.
