The Resident Evil 4 Remake is almost here, and fortunately, Capcom released a demo to give players a chance to go hands on with RE4: Remake. Join GameSpot's Jean-Luc as he takes control of Leon S. Kennedy, encounters Los Ganados and Las Plagas, and makes his way through Resident Evil 4's infamous village section. Resident Evil 4 Remake releases to PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S on March 24, 2023.
In the Chainsaw Demo, Leon S. Kennedy has been sent to an isolated village in Europe after the traumatic events of Raccoon City from Resident Evil 2. The demo includes a quick recap cutscene of the events leading up to RE4, and then launches straight into Resident Evil 4 chapter 1.
This chapter is notorious for introducing players to Los Ganados and Las Plagas. Ganados being infected villagers who act smarter than a typical Resident Evil zombie. Of course, the demo wouldn't be complete without the village and mob rush section of the game. Here, players are introduced to the chainsaw wielding enemy, previously known as Dr. Salvador.

I like how at close range he pulls the gun to his body like a sam fischer when the enemy is close. It looks more realistic. The guns sound fantastic.

And to think, there will probably be people that play this game and weren't even born when the original came out. Dang. Well, I hope this is good. I wouldn't call it better or worse, but I appreciate how it's darker, creepier, and overall more realistic. RE4 is one of those games I can play today and still enjoy like I originally did. The VR version was great too, but too easy. I hope there is parity between the PS5 and Xbox versions because I assume the Xbox version will have Atmos, but if it's like recent titles where PS5 runs and looks a bit better, I'll have to get it on PS5.

Very strange they removed the laser crosshair, it was a huge staple feature when the game came out. I hope you can enable it in the settings.

this demo is actually very well-optimized. I played it 1280x720 with a low setting and it worked better on my 930mx laptop with i7 7600u and 8gb ram. Capcom did a really great job. Hope the whole game will run the same........

I tried that. Thanks. I think it improved it slightly. The resolution on Leon’s character model still looks like 720p to me. I’m hoping the final product is better, but I’m not holding my breath.

They need to fix the aiming sensitivity it was frustrating it feels like some sort of default deadzone which makes the aiming feel slow and sluggish the re2 remake and 3 remake didn't have this issue same with re8 i hope Capcom will fix this by the time the game releases

@@markdesselle5572 u dont wanna know how many hours i Experimented with the sensitivity settings but got no satisfying result the aiming in re4 just aint as good as the other remakes and re8 its sluggish and slow and u can feel some kind of deadzone which u cant adjust Capcom needs to fix the aiming

Well actually he is still the first enemy, when Leon is coming back from downstairs after seeing the police body, this same granado tries to ambush him and you do actually have to shoot him.

I find it weird that we have the intro narration, which is good... but then we have a short summary, and straight into the chapter 1... like we just got spawned into map instead of having another introduction cutscene where we see Leon actually get into the area. I get it's a demo and hopefully Capcom devs can remedy it. We only like 2-3 weeks away before this game gets out to the world

They likely won't need to remedy it, since it is likely not how the full game will start in the first place. They did the same thing with other demos, where they skipped theshort little intro sequences such as Leon/Claire arriving at the police station in RE2, or Jill's apartment in RE3

I played the demo now and I'm delighted by the graphics & the makeover but very annoyed by the lacklustre aiming. The aiming is really bad. It's like the didn't implement the improvements & the very good aiming mechanics from RE 2 & 3??? It's very stiff & clumsy, just like the original but it's not 2005 anymore. That's very bad and I'm somewhat upset & disappointed. That needs fixing fast.

Looks good all right, but I'm concerned that it's nearly the exact same game as the original. What made the re2 and re3 remakes great was that they were entirely new experiences of the same story, this just looks like re4 with fancier graphics.

Graphics on the ps5 were very disappointing. The outdoors was extremely hard to look at. It looked like a huge mess with the grass resolutions being so low. I was really expecting higher resolution graphics on the ps5. *sigh*
