incredible, with this exercise I was finally able to FEEL and experience the breath control, I always admired how beautifully you could sing any thing out, manipulating the notes at will, now I understand how
"Remember get the hell out of the way!"😂 You rock so much, Eric!! Thank you!! And thank you, Michael AKA youtube.com/@VelvetWhispererASMR for reminding me of these series of videos when I so needed it. 🥲💜🎶🙏
Thank you for that great video! I can really feel the opening-up at my upper back, ribs and epigastrium. How does inhaling and exhaling feel at the lower back and lower belly area? I know it should not be tight but is there some kind of tension or are they completely relaxed? Somehow I can't really root the breath as you often refer to - do I need to change anything in my posture or do you have any other experience with that?
You want to allow the breath to literally drop into the lower back and into the pelvic floor. When you do this and "root" the breath, the chest and back automatically expand and the belly will come in. One way to practice this is to pretend you're smelling a rose and you'll feel this kind of breath drop and expansion. Eventually you'll want to get to a simultaneous nose and mouth breath which gives you optimal free air intake.
By “the floor drops”, I meant that the larynx lowers. I think of the soft palate as “the ceiling” and the larynx as “the floor”. It made sense in my head. But sorry for the confusion 😄. Lol
