I found a new catholic channel! This is refreshing.

Hey Taylor thanks for the video I often see you commenting below Gavin's channel and was surprised to see you have a channel. I'm a recent convert to the Catholic church from protestantism. I still find it "intimidating" for lack of a better word, to watch videos like those from Ortlund or other. For example concerning baptisimal regeneration or the eucharist or others like it. I simply don't have the time to be a full-on theologian, and I'm currently reading into the Catechism. It seems that all side have very reasonable and charitable men (also some that really aren't charitable or reasonable ofcourse), this makes it hard for me as to determine "the right direction". Perhaps you know some good things I can look in to as a layman with limited time. Also, one small thing, I believe Gavin isn't "simply a baptist" but a reformed baptism, perhaps there's a distinction there in him not being in line with baptists. Though I'm not sure about that. Subscribed to your channel, I found it very interesting!

protestants see original sin as equating to concupiscence. eg lutherans see that og sin=concupiscence. Catholics see concupiscence as an effect* of original sin, but not original sin. correct me if im wrong. also can you help me do a simply summary of the accurate catholic view of justification as opposed to the protestant view?

Well I'm not sure Lutherans would reduce original sin to concupiscence alone but they certainly view concupiscence as mortally sinful, whereas Catholics would not view it as such when it exists in the regenerate who have been given love for God and this struggle against concupiscence. Hope that makes sense. I've made several videos on my channel about Catholic and Protestant views of justification, if you want more, I would suggest viewing some of them. The key differences between Catholics and Lutherans comes down to imputation/concupiscence, and the concept of condign merit in relationship to salvation.

@@taylorbarrett384 ok thanks. I think if it is quite correct to say that protestants view original sin as the same as concupisence. It also nicely lines up with why we see protestants insist for imputation, since og sin=concupisence=separation from god, hence our corrupt natures that cannot be made rightous in this life, apart from some alien righteousness pasted onto us. Catholics see og sin as an effect of og sin, but not the same, n og sin is removed in baptism, so we have a "good" nature (not completely depraved) that can be infused with sanctifying grace
