I really hope that Gordon put the girlfriend in her place. Yes, the owner is responsible for the business, but the cook is the one responsible for the food going out and if he's putting out shite, then yeah, he needs to be blamed for it.

I was born and raised in Long Branch, NJ and have been to Max's Hotdogs many times over the years and they have been declining. It's a historic staple in my city and always attract the tourists which keeps them in business in the summer. I think they charge like $8 - $9 per hotdog now and what you saw here is literally what you get. Less than desired for sure. I think these are either Sabrett or Nathan's dogs. Great for a food truck, beach or amusement park dog for $5, but not at a renowned restaurant that's been in business for almost 100 years. Don't quote me, but I think they used to use Schickhaus griddle franks with natural casing. The best hotdog in the world, period! Probably switched just like The Windmill did because it saved them money. Sad.

They use Sabrett at max’s hotdogs because Windmill got an exclusive contract with Schickhaus that they couldn’t sell to max’s anymore or anyone else on the Jersey shore. My grandfather knows the family that founded max’s because they grew up with my grandmother. The daughter runs it now and got the business from her father a little less than a decade ago. She’s completely run it into the ground.

Never has it been Nathan’s or sabbretts. Has always been the shickhaus hotdog and in 2020 Wenning bought the distribution and production rights so now they are called wenning hotdogs. Same product since day 1

I've never understood how waiters can't correctly explain Gordon's criticism to the chef. Like he says "it's bland and rubbery", and they go back with something generic like "he didn't like it. It was disappointing" I've seen this happen very often on this show, and could be why these restaurants are failing, at least in part.

I was always a fan of all beef hotdogs, mainly soubrettes with natural casing. And I like them boiled which you have to do for a low simmer anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending how the casing is. Do you want it to pop but not be rubbery. Some people love grilled and deep-fried hotdogs, I don’t knock it it’s just not for me. Gordon Ramsay may be some kind of an expert, but it’s not something he would have developed back home because I don’t think England is really known for gourmet cooking. Everything is cooked to death and they boil steaks. I guess that comes from the years of bad refrigeration.

Its a hotdog. In germany those things called are brühwürstchen. You can eat them out of the glas, or just reheat them and then eat them. Its nothing special, if you ask me. So to make it delicious, you have to change the mainpart of the hotdog, which would be the hotdog it self..... When you go to a burger shop and expect something other then a burgerpatty on your regular Burger, you should rethink why you are eating there!
