Paul Sagan picked up his new car from Max Hoffman's service facility on East 76th street in New York. Herbert Linge from the Porsche factory was in attendance at Hoffman Motors on the day Sagan picked up the car.
The car was already out of the crate and a couple of mechanics went to start the car, but it wouldn't start and they hurried off to get jumper cables. Linge immediately stopped them and had them first drain and then replace the engine oil because it had been fouled with fuel.
Shortly after taking delivery of his car, Sagan piloted 550-0073 to a first place finish at Thompson racetrack during the 1956 Labor Day weekend national races where this photo was taken.
