Love it! My first car was an identical coloured 4cv which did many thousands of miles in the Outback here in Australia. I followed it up with a blue and white Dauphine with "Ferlec clutch (Electromagnetic: - gear lever but no clutch pedal)and then a yellow R8 Gordini. Saw 2 4cv's on a rally on Yorke Peninsula in South Australia last weekend! Brings back memories!
As a Renault-man myself, I enjoyed part one...and am looking forward to the next episode already. I think another 4CV is well saved, and gives honour to the great heritage of French motoring. At one point in the late '90's we had a 4CV in our showroom next to al the new cars....it gave such pleasure to "older" customers..... Some of them used to have a 4CV once, or someone they know had one.... The alterations to the car (when done like seen in this video) are (or will be) tasteful. Thanks for uploading! Kind regards from the Netherlands
Une vraie démonstration de compétence: Quel Plaisir de voir cette vidéo. On exactement d'où l'on part et l'on sait exactement là où l'on doit arriver: Bravo!!!
Nicely done video showing the workmanship of the restorers. I worked with a man who had one with a lot of newer Gordini running gear in it- Quite the sleeper!
My first car was a 57 4cv, we rebuilt the engine and it ran fine, it seemed like the rebuild made it a "Gordini" with 28 hp. I may be wrong. It always started easily, broke an axle, broke a throttle cable, the muffler disappeared one day, the radiator leaked and blew steam on the windshield through the defrosters, the steering would freeze up when it got cold out so you couldn't turn the wheel, electrics all worked fine, somehow got air in the brake line and smacked into the car ahead of me which crushed the boot latch into the spare tire and flattened it, a little work with a hammer and block knocked the front end straight and even the headlights came back into aim. Didn't hurt the other car at all. In cold weather the handcrank got it going easily. If you got a flat you could put the flat on the right front and drive it home, there wasn't enough weight there to push it down. I never owned a car that produced so many stories! Eventually sawed it in half and turned it into a snowplow.
Great video; small piece of additional info; many overlapping technologies/DNA with the VW Beetle assuming Ferdinant Porsche influence, being held prisoner in France at the time...
Hi, the French version of 4CV have their fuel tank under the right rear seat, not in the boot. You have to fill it by opening the motor bonnet. I didn't know that. I've had one from 53, with the same color (954). great job. Stephane from France
Great restoration. One question - did you not consider upgrading the front brakes to disc brakes? I think Dauphine hubs/discs/calipers fit (with some modifications to make them fit of course)
Toutes les restaurations que je montre ne sont pas toutes faites par moi. Celle-ci ne l'est pas. Generalement quand ce n'est pas mon travail, je le mets dans la description de la video.
granskare I don't take any credit for the work that's not mine. It is clearly stated in the description of the video when it is not in the video itself. Plus I don't say what I do but show what is done. And to finish each time someone mistakenly thinks that it is my work in the comment I make clear that it isn't.
I am sorry, that they didn't stay with original Renault green, it was so elegant color for this car ,out from factory...pity. This paint make it look like Barney Circus is coming to town....really pity...change it ,if you can, price will go up for sure.
NOT a restoration but a customization! Restoration means the car was RESTORED to it's original condition and look as when it was built. Nice job, however,.
Great !…Congrats. But with the sporty look of the dashboard the car looses its authentic look and lacks personality : it becomes one of those cars … too bad.
Sorry to hear you don't like it. I find it pretty nice and not considering the fact that I like it or not, it can't be denied that it is a job of great quality.
There's Always some one, claiming that a car is ruined, because it wasn't restored to factory. This same person probably has a concourse condition YUGO that He worships.. Fantastic job, on building a nice sporty car, out of a rather bland, ugly grocery- getter..not a fan of this brand, but I, myself, would drive your creation, with pride!! Good job!!
