The more I watch restoration videos, the more I´m wondering - how much resources would be saved if MOST of the things wouldn´t go to waste and prolonged their functionality?
Wood is the best example of biodegradable materials. You're correct in regards to single-use plastic, but wood is fine to dispose of because it mulches quickly and we have tree farms. Just don't go chopping down old-growth forests.
Я обожаю смотреть видео о реставрации! Неважно, что за реставрация! Любые такие видео! С одной стороны, это очень расслабляет и приносит эстетическое удовольствие. С другой стороны, это приносит невероятное удовлетворение от того, что у такого предмета появилась вторая жизнь, а наша окружающая среда стала чуть менее загрязнённой!

I swear heat gunning paint is one of the most satisfying and beautiful things in this universe lol. I just love to see old cracked paint get softened up and scraped off, revealing nice clean wood underneath. I’ve done tons of heat gun work myself and I love it. It takes a really long time but I love it. Using paint stripper is great too. And sanding all the rough wood and any leftover paint is such a good feeling when you get a nice wood finish! Nice video
I did this very thing for the first 5 years of my 42 years in the trades. I went on to other restoration practices because there were too many chemicals involved in stripping, plus burning any old paint was for sure vaporizing lead which is very dangerous. This type of thing should really be done outside or in a very ventilated separated space with fans always running blowing any fumes and smoke to the outside. Respirators should always be worn. I did a lot of old Victorian entrance doors, shutters, and interior woodwork. In my retirement I will still, once in a while, take in an old piece of furniture to repair in my wood shop, but I won’t strip anymore. Yes the old pieces brought back to life look wonderful & will probably last another 100-200 years depending on the use. It’s a whole other world in knowing how to handle old materials and how they are finished, I wouldn’t recommend it as a career though.
Здравствуйте! Хорошая работа, по приданию двери второй жизни. Но, есть у меня одно замечание: по моему мнению, петли и другие скобяные изделия, лучше всё-таки крепить при помощи шурупов с полукруглой головкой. Так, они бы смотрелись более органично.

La porta é vecchia ma non così vecchia. Le modanature interne dei pannelli sono di tipo industriale fatte a tirar via. Anche i serramenti sono di tipo industriale economico.

That was a labor of love. I was also impressed that he got the four elements into his restoration. Earth (sand), wind (compressed air), fire (heat gun), and water.

You must have never seen the real old doors then... Modern over old, give me the crisp modern doors every time. You can make them look old but the sharpness of the rim on modern doors is very soothing.

Fantastic work. I see this old doors on the waste, what a loss. I'am lucky keept the old ones in my old farmhouse and since two years I'm working to repair them, getting better from foor to door. @@user-ei6ix2zr3d Вспомнилась подобная реставрация в Екатеринин.дворце в г.Пушкин...Там увидел канапе ,в котором было ...5% от первоначальной величины(самая конечность боковушки,основное добавка...),но древесина --та же порода,а работа мастера !..Терпение,мастерство и характер ...Такие "3 в 1-ом " редко встречаются !
@@tacit46mikhail я у себя парадную дверь заказал новую. Точно такая же по рисунку, только из новой древесины . А старая труха, и щепки. Там нечего реставрировать.
1. Почему всю краску сразу не удалить пескоструем? 2. Зачем трухлявую дверь вообще реставрировать? 3. Результат не оправдывает затрат - из окрашеной рухляди вышла лакированая рухлядь!
I'm not suggesting you're wrong to do it, but I've got so used to seeing restorers use age appropriate hardware I noticed that on a door, that obviously has some age, you attached all the hardware with crosshead screws. I appreciate they might have been the screws you removed, but it looks odd to me seeing screws that shout "modern" used on a door that shouts "old". I liked that you removed the minimal amount of wood, rather than replaced large areas of good wood, and I like seeing the materials and finishes people use in other countries, I don't know what the finishes you used were, but they looked great as a finished product.
Когда смотрю подобные видео, возникает только один вопрос нахуа? Зачем потрачено столько времени и усилий для придания лоска этому дерьму? Я бы еще понял если бы это была дверь из Букингемского дворца имеющая очевидную историческую ценность, ну или на крайний случай хотябы сделана из ценных пород дерева! А так это обычная убитая временем дверь из сосны со следами левых привандаленных явно позже железных петель и накладного убогого замка, которые горе реставратор опять приделал назад. За то время, что было убито на бесполезный труд можно было изготовить дверь заново и даже при желании ее состарить, результат был бы на порядок лучше. Потому дизлайк.
If you are gonna spend the time and money to do a restoration. Do it correctly and completely. You have the equipment and know how, obviously. The project ended pretty but structurally unsound. Rotted wood everywhere.
Un altro grande lavoro che per quanto possa sembrare semplice è invece, tecnico e professionale. Penso che dietro anche solo il lavoro a vapore sulle porte imbarcate, i calcoli e le palle che girano siano assai pesanti. Pulitura, aggiustaggio e finitura delle superfici. Professionale e metodico. Bravissimo come sempre.

I just love this restoration, better than last one I saw. He straightened the doors and squared them up, covered up all cracks and gaps, and smoothed everything nice and even. I don't know if he was able to get rid of all rotten wood but got enough of it to make door sound and reusable. I once again love that he kept natural wood look and beauty of piece instead of painting over it. Great job just like watching craftsmanship like this.
